  1. I believe a point the man from Ohio was making centers on the computerized strength of schedule. Talk to someone from Ohio, where football is king, and they grow up with these computerized rankings. They take their football more seriously in Ohio than we do in Tennessee, and they live with the computer rankings. Go figure! And the games are at night. See below. That system offers a more impartial means of determining who is in the playoffs, etc. FORMAT: Thirty-two teams in six divisions (192 total schools) have qualified for the tournaments, with selections based on the OHSAA Football Computer Rankings. To qualify for the tournaments, schools must have finished first through eighth in their assigned region. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 6-7 Regional Quarterfinals • Regional seeds 1, 2, 3 & 4 to host seeds 5, 6, 7 & 8 • Friday 7:30 p.m. - Div. II, III, V • Saturday 7 p.m. - Div. I, IV, VI If a similar system was used in Tennessee, I don't see how an "Oakland" could meet a "Mt. Juliet" in round one.
  2. No one would schedule Ooltewah; thus Maplewood, Franklin, Austin East, and Tyner. No one out of region schedules Maplewood. They are tough. My memory could be wrong, but I think Franklin was #1 or close earlier in the season. They are tough. Who wants to schedule Austin East? No one out of region. Tyner plays everybody, public and private because no one wants to play them. Outside of Murfreesboro teams, Ooltewah probably had the toughest schedule in the state.
  3. 1A Championship games probably have the2nd largest attendance in some years. Do not diminish the crowds that 1A championship games can created.
  4. I have no problem with that idea, but once you put privates in a higher classificaction that does not have any privates, there will be another set of publics entering the debate. Do you think the TSSAA and administrators will go for dropping two (or one of the old) classifications? Can you ask them why Ronnie Carter was not retained as a consultant to help with the pairings? They tried the multiplier. How about apply the multiplier and then whatever classification they end up with bump them up one more? That way zero privates in 1A where most of the rural school are at? What do ya think?
  5. This does not resolve the private-public conflict. Eliminate D2 and put privates in every classification. How do you think that idea would fly? No public wants to play a private in the playoffs. If you do not use that factor in the playoff format, it will cause an outrage every year.
  6. Does anyone know the official logic that the TSSAA applied to forming the brackets?
  7. One factor, if not the major factor that helped created the present system is the private school factor. The smaller schools wanted to get them out of the lower classifications, especially 1A. The process of trying to find a solution created political fatigue. When some schools saw that they could get into the playoffs in the new (present) system but not the old system, they brought into it. The major reasons we have six classifications are to spread out the impact of private schools and increase the probabilty of getting into the playoffs. Why did Ronnie Carter want this plan? Was it his attempt to do the greatest good for the greatest number? Another factor was travel. This system was supposed to cut down on travel and save money. Some people felt that they had to agree to this plan to save money. Has this plan actually saved travel expenses? Has it increased gate revenue? (Bad year to measure gates with all the rain). Go back to the old system with five classifications and the private - public debate will dominate the debate.
  8. This is a clear opportunity for Columbia to win what may be it's first playoff game in history.....not sure on the history, but it has been a long time since Columbia advanced in the playoffs. Someone grab a tissue!! Would you rather play a 7-3 Craigmont team from Memphis or a 3-7 Cleavland team? Good grief I believe you know what you can do with your tissue.Winning your district,Getting a 32 seed and having to play in a tougher brackett with Clinton, while the team you beat for the district championship geta a #1 seed and homefield advantage is STUPID.
  9. Congratulations to Riverdale's coach, Ron Aydelott: Aydelott wins award: Riverdale's Ron Aydelott was named the Titans high school football coach of the week after leading his team to an upset of Farragut, the top-ranked team in Class 6A at the time. One week earlier, Riverdale (5-1) beat Oakland when the Patriots were ranked third in 6A. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20091 ... 910020358/
  10. Working now. Thanks! Sorry, didn't know you were having a problem with it. Try again now.
  11. When I click on Plus Boards, I do not go to Plus Boards. I thought I purchased the 5-year deal last year, or something similar. Are the Plus Boards and Private Messages operational? Have not seen them since the new switch in the summer.
  12. Jake Logue #54 coming on the field last night. May God be with him and his family.

  14. Coach Smith would be a great choice!
  15. May 2, 2009 Football coach will remain at Brentwood By Jeff Lockridge THE TENNESSEAN Brentwood High football Coach Ron Crawford has turned down an offer to become the new coach at Cleveland High in East Tennessee. Crawford said he interviewed for the position after being contacted by Cleveland officials, but said that his happiness at Brentwood, the time of year and the task of trying to sell a house in the current market convinced him to stay. 16. Riverdale's offense led the region in scoring and yards gained last season.
  17. knoxnews.com blogssearch site web Web Search Greeneville football coach? Not yet, says AD An internet poster put up on Coacht.com Friday night that Greeneville assistant (and interim head coach) Caine Ballard got the job left by Steve McCurry in mid March. Greeneville athletics director Randy Richards went all Lee Corse and said not so fast, my friend. Well, he didn't use those terms (nor did he have a pencil in his hand or mascot face on), but he said something pretty close. Richards said Friday night (via the cell phone) that interviews wrapped up Thursday night and that they hoped to have a coach in place by Monday. So check back on PrepXtra.com Monday night. Could be an announcement up by then. http://blogs.knoxnews.com/knx/preps/archiv...ville_foo.shtml
  18. A true analysis of Cannon County Football would conclude that Chad Barger did a great job in Woodbury. Anyone who was in the room when Coach Schrenk was interviewed would know that he is cut from the same cloth as Coach Barger. Knute Rockne could not have done a better job that Coach Schrenk did at Northwest. Anyone who truly cares about Cannon County football should get behind this new coach. The man can coach. Will he be Barger 2.0? No. He is different, and he will do well. Congratulations on getting a great coach. Cannon County, you don't know how lucky you are. Show a little love, and you will be surprised. You got a real football coach.

  20. No idea what happened, but anyone who watched Greeneville Football the past two years knows that Coach McCurry is a heck of a football coach. Greeneville football is better today than it was two years ago.
  21. This is nonsense. Coach Barger is a professional. No one doubts what a great job he did at Cannon County, and no one can question his conduct.
  22. NO! Go back to your thread.
  23. Reading this mess of posts is an accurate portrayal of Williamson County. Why would any self-respecting coach want to coach there?
