  1. Saw Hillwood scrimmage Station Camp and the Hilltoppers looked pretty solid on both side of the ball. SC was big and athletic and I think HW scored more TD's, but it was a scrimmage as both teams were testing out players. HW is much improved on offense and will move the ball down the field with deceiving small QB that is a good passer and will run it as well. HW has a really good TE that is the best receiver on the team that has great hands, that if not accounted for will catch a few in the end zone.
  2. A couple of players that were hurt last year are now playing but basically, the same team as they only had 7 seniors last year. I know they finished 1-9 but again Goodpasture wasn't as bad as their record indicated last year. Like I mentioned in an earlier post they had a pretty tough schedule. GP played 3 teams that made it to Cookeville State Championship game(Friendship, DCA, South Pitt), 3 teams in the regular season went 10-0(Friendship, DA, South Pitt) with 2 other teams going 9-1(D2AAA Briarcrest, BGA). Not saying they will win a Gold Ball and still not at the level Goodpasture has been in the past yet. They need more meat and depth on the OL and DL but have some athletes that can make up for size up front. They are much improved on both sides of the ball compared to last year from what I have seen so far this year. Still havent played a really good team yet and next week travel to Memphis to play D2AAA Briarcrest who has 6 or 7 D1 recruits. We'll have a better look at what the Cougars can do against a really good team compared to last week. stay tuned...
  3. My2 cents. GP QB has potential to put up much better numbers this season. http://www.unapproved website.com/athlete/dylan-brooks/5ocXKxXDEeWrOKA2nzwY6g/gendersport/football-stats.htm He is a 4th-year starter with new OC that knows how to score points and now the HC can focus on Defense. I bet he has a better year than he did his 2016 Sophmore year with over 1300 yards with 13 TD's. That year GP lost in the Semi-FInals to CPA in Double OT. GP has another tough schedule like most in the D2AA region. Region foe CPA probably has the toughest in the state again this year. Last year was interesting for GP as they weren't as bad as many think they were. Last year GP played 3 teams that made it to Cookeville State Championship game(Friendship, DCA, South Pitt), 3 teams in the regular season went 10-0(Friendship, DA, South Pitt) with 2 other teams going 9-1(D2AAA Briarcrest, BGA).
  4. Yea this game was never in question. Running clock 5 minutes before the half. DCA only had 23 or so players dressed out. Might be a long year 2018 season for DCA.
  5. Might be a different type of game this year compared to last year, as DCA lost a few players. The Cougars little older and have many returning players that have been starters since they were freshmen.
  6. Looks like FC came ready to play tonight and the passing game of NC was their downfall at the end. Good win for FC, and still unbeaten.
  7. Agree I think both teams will score more than that. Did some video of both teams from sideline/endzone and both teams have decent size are athletic. Both teams have been able to move the ball at will on most of the teams they have played this year. NCS may be surprised the size and speed of FC. However, I think NCS will win a higher scoring close game. Instead of picking the final score. I predict that Myers will have 250+ yards on 29 carriers with 4 TD's My 2 cents....
  8. Clearly, Myers has the best Stats and should be Mr. Football in this classification, but I can see him not getting the award because he is a Jr so they will probably give it to someone else. Not sure if being a Jr impacts your chances of winning or not? My 2 cents....
  9. This season had the chance to video BGA, FRA, and CPA and from what I saw from the sidelines CPA is the best and most complete team. Thye can run or pass, have very good kickers with good special team play. However now with the injuries that may have it may change it a little, but I still think CPA is the best team from the mid-state for sure. Not to discredit BGA who is very hard to stop. All of BGA's success rides on their QB. My 2 cents....
  10. If anyone cares to watch the entire NCS vs TKA game last night.
  11. Reminds me of the CPA vs Goodpasture rematch in the 3rd round last year. Goodpasture won during the regular season but CPA won in the playoff rematch that went into double OT. If the RAMS can protect their QB and let him sling the ball all over the pace they look hard to stop.
  12. Good luck to Ram Nation next week against ND. Great atmosphere and host and must say you guys have a nice field. Too bad Goodpasture did not give a more competitive game. It has been a tough year of pick 6's. fumbles, and penalties for the Cougars most of the season. Goodpasture is a young team with 8 seniors this year and many freshmen & sophomores who played a lot. In this new DII AA division, I am sure Goodpasture will see a bunch of the Rams in postseason play in baseball, basketball, and football in the next few seasons.
  13. Goodpasture lost a bunch of seniors who last year scored 40 of the 47 total TD scored last year. These seniors from last year are now playing on Saturdays at Navy, Cornell, Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech. The Cougars have a younger team of Sophomore and Juniors this year with 8 seniors I believe. Also worth mentioning, Goodpasture had a tough schedule this year with the 3 of the teams they played this year went undefeated during the season (Friendship Christian, Davidson Academy, & South Pitt) as well as 2 teams that are 9-1 (Briarcrest & BGA). This year the Goodpasture's opponents combined win loss record is 74-26 compared to Grace Christian with 47-42. If Grace continues to pass the ball well it may be a long night for the Cougars. Goodpasture can win this game but this year they have been a turnover machine with lots of stupid penalties that have killed many drives this year. Grace on paper should win easily but I would not overlook the Cougars. My 2 Cents which is probably what it is worth.
  14. From watching the video the starting QB and #21 for Lipscomb are really good players. I think #21 scored all of the Mustangs points and if he is banged up might be a very long season for them. Yes South Pitt may be small in terms of the number of students, but they will bring a good team with a long history of beating much bigger schools.
  15. LOL For the last 12 years I followed several middle TN area schools Franklin, CPA, NCS, Lipscomb & Goodpasture to name a few. I get the chance to video from the sideline and see up close most of these teams. Like I said in numerous posts on CoachT, CPA is the team to beat and may have the hardest schedule in the state the last 2 years. CFAfan Like I said in my earlier post that got you all angry for BGA. If you remove #7 from this 2017 BGA team they are an average team at best. All of BGA hopes are riding on the play of #7. Trust me Goodpasture is not out the picture they have only played one region game. If you look at how the playoffs are structured in this division you may get a chance to see Goodpasture play BGA again in the playoffs. Ingle is a good coach and so is Joslin. Not sure why you feel compelled to put down a very successful coach with 135 career coaching wins and over 35 years of experience at Gallatin, Cookeville, JPII and now Goodpasture. Joslin from 1994 to 2011 did not have a losing season. Yes Ingle is a great coach as well with less than half the experience.
  16. After watching the video of last night Goodpasture gave up 2 quick long passes that BGA scored on early in the 1st qrt. The Cougars were able to move the ball on the ground and Elders ended up rushing for the 122 yards with one TD. Mid way in 2nd qrt Goodpasture was driving to score when the game was 12 to 7 and then fumbled in the red zone. After that BGA QB #7 took over and scored couple times and going into to the half it was 28 to 7. BGA's QB ended up 125 rushing and 252 passing yards with total 375 yards out of 473 total yards for the team. #7 was responsible for 5 of 7 TD's and is BGA whole offense take him out and BGA is a very average team. BGA is not very big and from what I have seen from the sidelines will have trouble with the size and speed of CPA. Speaking of CPA being the team to beat this year I remember last year CPA started off the 2016 season 1-5 and were out scored 181 to 48 and ended up going 4 games deep in the playoffs before losing the Liberty Tech for the chance to play for the title vs Alcoa. Goodpasture has had some injuries and a few players that have not even had the chance to play yet. Not sure the Cougars are completely out of the picture just yet.
  17. Ahh, I may have a different take on this game now. I was concerned how much of an impact that would have on NCS after Wilhoite transferred to Siegal. But with Myers out too NCS is a different team.
  18. Yea surprised NCS got beat as well. DCA was fast and can move the ball on the ground and the air. Took advantage of several turnovers and was never close from their first score 5 minutes into the first qrt. DCA tried to let Goodpasture back in the game with a few penalties and a fumble after a punt with 3 seconds to go til half. Elders was getting hit before he was getting the handoff and #53 is hard to block. I just watched the video and QB#13 left the game on the 3rd play of the Cougars first series and #12 Freshman came in handed the ball off a few times punted next series he threw 90 yard pick 6. Goodpasture Jr QB #13 who has started since he was a freshman only played a little over 7 minutes. Not sure why #3 Junior who is a WR and was backup for last 2 years did not come in at that point?
  19. So Xavier did not play last night?
  20. Wow did not expect that. Yea not much of a game from the Cougars. No excuses and too bad DCA did not get a chance to see the real Goodpasture team tonight. I did want to point out that during the second offensive series, a weird stomach bug hits #13 the starting QB who during a pre-snap cadence starting throwing up on the field and had to walk off the field puking. So 3rd string Freshmen QB comes in throws a INT results in a 90+ yard pick 6 TD. That pretty much sums up this game for Goodpasture tonight who had 4 turnovers. Goodpasture will host Briarcrest next week.
  21. Is Landsdell still at CA? He was NCS head coach before Brothers.
