That’s not saying much. Gibson County middle is down this year. Martin beat them by 20+ the other night. Martin never can seem to get Huntingdon to schedule them in middle school but it would be a good matchup I believe. Westview will be better after Christmas than they will be early in the season but when you put the freshman point guard with Alexander and Sims and then get Simpson and Evans back in there, they are going to be pretty tough and I think will start clicking at the right time

They have to learn to play together. Right now it looks more like each of them want their own points. I just didn’t think they were clicking the times I have seen them play. That will work for most games but they will have to figure it out to be successful for the season

Westview has FOUR currently recovering from ACL surgery. They also have several that play big time travel softball (the downfall of being state champions in both basketball and softball). I’ve heard that it just wouldn’t benefit enough to play camps right now for them. They have played their jv in a few camp games

I’m glad they will be because Summertown should have been at state too. They were definitely better than Community and Riverside that we played

She had herself a week not just a day! Winning pitcher for four straight games and had 4 homeruns with two being grand slams in the championship game (first time ever in TSSAA tournament history) and 16 total RBIs in 4 games while batting over .700. Only close game of the tournament was vs Waverly! Westview was on a mission this week!! State basketball champions and now state softball champions!

She was the one that scored like 28 against y’all in the District championship and was voted best player in the district over KayKay

Yes I do! This girl coming up can shoot, drive to basket, and handle the ball. She will be pretty special

Westview is blessed to have the middle school feeder program that they do. That middle school coach has been there for like 10 years and is from Martin. She played ball for the McMillans and Stephenson so learned from some of the best. I don’t remember them having a losing season or more than 7-8 losses in any of her years. They have been at the middle school state tournament 4 out of the last 5 years that they have had the tournament and always seem to add talent to the high school program each year. They added Jada’s sister, Tasia Jones to the coaching staff this year which just adds more championship knowledge and gives those kids a championship mindset at a young age. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t move up to a high school coaching job soon but Martin needs to keep her around as long as they can!

A college town skews the population for sure…just ask Martin! That’s why they go by the high school enrollment and that’s it

Yes those were the top in each class that I saw at the state tournament and I watched all the games. The Reynolds sisters are pretty solid too! I know the gold ball is more important to these girls than Miss Basketball but it’s still a nice honor

A- Savannah Davis from McKenzie AA- Jada Harrison from Westview (has been nominated three years in a row but this would be her first win) AAA- Lawson from Southside **This straight opinion and is from watching the State Tournament and seeing who the best players out there were as well as watching Jada’s entire career.

No offense but Savannah Davis from McKenzie has had a pretty impress season/career herself and is an outstanding individual. I will be surprised if she doesn’t win it in single A

Congrats to Southside!! I could tell this team was on a mission this year! Way to fight hard and get that gold ball!!

Westview got off to a slow start but then pulled away with it in 2nd half. Brigance was huge tonight going 6 for 6 from field with 4 for 4 from threes! They helped off Jada too much and allowed Westview the outside shots. They hit 9 tonight. Westview was one off from State Tournament turnover record with just 3 tonight! Now let’s finish it tomorrow girls!!

I was confused of why South Gibson would cheer against Westview but oh well

After that double OT battle, I’m sure SS is glad they have Friday off to rest and recoup before championship! SS by 10

What a thriller!! Double overtime and not even championship game. Heck of a battle by both teams!! #4 for Etown and Lawson for SS put on a show!!

Chester and Brigance were huge for Westview today! Alexander held scoreless (only shot twice). Westview only made 5 threes which is probably one of the fewest they have hit in a game all season. They got up 11-12 but York never gave up. It was truly a battle to the end!
