  1. It's great that everyone has been able to get this far. DJ and I were talking last week how based on the forecast 8-AAA may not be finished by the deadline. I like the two site bracket, that's something that should be considered every year. Good luck to Coffee and whom ever wins between Lincoln & Lawrence.
  2. Good post. Last year was nuts. Just wanted to say I'm missing all of y'all. Not missing what you do, just the people involved and the game itself.
  3. So no pictures of my fantastic plate work? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  4. He was a bit animated, but he didn't scream.
  5. I can assure you he was there. Coach Hardison did scream at the umpires. I heard him. And screaming at the umpires is going ballistic in my book. Also, Parker went out and argued once, not three times.
  6. The reason the run didn't count in the second instance is because no run can be scored during the same continuous playing action as a force out for the third out, even if a runner reaches home plate before the third out is recorded. In other words, force outs count before runs are scored. It is common that a runner reaches home plate before the third out is made by force out. Such a case is routine; the runner doesn't score but is counted as left on base. The double play that was turned was no different than if it had been a groundball for a double play.
  7. Not when neither runner moved.
  8. The key phrase is "ordinary effort."
  9. LC 13 FC 3 No idea on the current games.

    umps?

I think that one gets funnier everytime I hear it.
  11. I've gotta disagree. In my opinion, trying to call different levels will actually screw an umpire up. Back when I was trying to do Little League and high school, I found that my strike zone was a little screwy, especially if I did a high school game one night and LL the next. Maybe that's just me. By the time the LL season starts high school season has been going for over a month and some of us just don't want to deal with LL parents and coaches if we don't have to. Saying all that, I do think LL is the place for a new guy to start.
  12. You can take the certification test anytime, just send in your money and you'll get the books and test back to take. Honestly, anyone can get certified, but a good association leader won't throw you to he wolves your first time out. As for training, TSSAA holds a camp every January. If you really want to start, get with your local association and do some summer ball. You don't have to be certified and there is less pressure on a rookie umpire.
  13. Hey Binns, surgery is tommorrow. I figure by Wed Ill be good to go if you want to do a 6-man, I'll take RF, just don't expect much movement on my part.
