  1. The teams that you want to compare FC to are not in their classification. It would be like saying: "let's compare Trousdale County to Maryville and that will show you how good the Yellow Jackets are." It would be fair to compare FC against BGA because they are in the same class. But, that's just my opinion and I do respect yours.
  2. Really? Gauge against BA, MBA, and the other Div. I AA schools? Come on Man!
  3. Most schools won't offer a QB without them actually coming to campus and throwing for the coaches. A.J. was offered by Arizona, UCLA, Syracuse, and several others, but he did not have the opportunity to attend too many schools and perform. Mississippi St. was set to offer him if he came down over spring break and threw for them, but he committed the week before he was scheduled to go. He chose to commit, which limited his offer list and in turn hurts your ranking because you don't attend the camps and show case your skills. Also, no school offered him to play DB or any other position for that matter. Petrino at Western loved him and offered off of tape alone and was really hoping he would just visit.
  4. Beech over Station Camp (Unfortunately, a pretty easy win on ESPN) Gallatin over Springfield Hendersonville over Wilson Central (WC has to get healthy quick or their season will be flushed) Westmoreland over Portland (In a tight game) Mt. Juliet over Lebanon (The Bears are just too talented)
  5. If Gallatin gets beat to Trousdale County, then they are in for a long year. Not that TC is not good, I believe that the Jackets will make a run at the 2A state, but Beech and Mt. Juliet will name their score against the Green Wave. I thought the Bucs were very impressive in the jamboree and the Bears were too. Heard that Hendersonville is better and Lebanon will be competitive. I was not very impressed with Wilson Central, compared to where I thought they would be. They beat a very young and major rebuilding Macon County team 24-0, but compared to last year, WC is not near as good up front. Of course, I realize Angel was not playing, but that line better improve if they have any ambitions of competing for 3rd in the region.
  6. To be perfectly honest it was a complete waste of time for FC and probably Westmoreland too. Hopefully, the two teams made some money at the gate for their programs because neither team got better. FC didn't even play two of their starting LB's or corner. On offense they didn't play their RB or TE. I know the Eagles can say the same. Plus, we lost a kid for the year. Makes me sick! All coach's want to get in and out of jamboree's without an injury and we did not accomplish that. Good luck to the Eagles.
  7. I believe that you answered the main problem, and seemingly unachievable task, of overcoming their yearly schedule. JPII can't even compete on a yearly basis, with BA, Ensworth, MBA, Baylor, McCallie, MUS, and Christian Brothers. They can beat a Father Ryan, St. Benedict, and Briarcrest, but not regularly. Too much money and tradition at the other schools for the Knights to overcome. This is just my opinion and not a slam because JPII is a fine school.
  8. Volzchamps, I had the opportunity to watch the middle school Commanders scrimmage CPA last night. I left very impressed with the product. The future appears to be very bright.
  9. The reason Andrew doesn't have any stars is because he is in the class of 2015, which have not been assigned stars yet. Coach Elder, Tennessee's TE coach, told me that he will play in the SEC and that UT wants him up in Knoxville as much as possible in the fall for the games.
  10. Slim, I could care less what Mote or the Goodpasture administration does. Just stating they were playing with a JV team for a good portion of the year, regardless of the reason, and you know that. Best of luck this year, but especially when you guys play the Cougars.
  11. Slim, you do enough research on teams to know that Goodpature was missing well over half their starters for a good portion of the season due to suspension. This really started a downward spiral that lead to Martin getting let go. Now, I agree on the coach, but in fairness he has never had much to work with.
  12. Appreciate the complete about our program and we are looking forward to joining Division II as a whole, but we also realize that our game has to step up a notch to be able to compete with the likes of Knoxville Webb, USJ, ECS, St. George's, BGA, etc.... After seeing you guys in person and on tape the word that can be used to describe Webb's program is "impressive." Top to bottom the coaching and the way the kids play, which is a reflection of the coach, is "impressive." Best of luck this season and we look forward to competing with the Spartans come week four.
  13. Slim, I like the way you are thinking. After reading this thread it is apparent that most of the bigger schools don't think much of us smaller classification programs. The topic is best program and not which team would win if they went face to face. Most are saying which team wins face to face equals better program, which I don't think is the definition of "best program." For example, no one will argue that Trousdale County is one of the best programs in the state of Tennessee since the 1970's. But, can Trousdale beat Beech or Mt. Juliet? Probably not, but I don't think many people are going to compare which program is better. It is Trousdale based on the success they have had at the level they compete. I am not getting into who would beat who on any given night between FC and the other schools in Wilson County, but as good as Mt. Juliet has been the last 6-7 years the best program falls to the Commanders at FC based on their success at the level they compete.
  14. Agree 100% Leatherballs. From what I heard MJ was a three ring circus this past year with the parents. Illini, know would be the one that would know more than me, but I heard a parent actually laid hands on Coach Carter. Also, I heard Carter was escorted from the field a few times because he felt threatened. Unfortunately, I would be forced to dismiss all players who's parents could not act civil.
  15. What school did he transfer from? I said earlier that he really stood out to me in the Blue Cross Bowl, but I had never heard of him. Now he has an offer from Tennessee.
  16. I don't know that I would call your first 3 games "Murderers Row." I would say that your entire schedule is a "Killer." Who in the world made this schedule out? I am not sure he likes the program vey well. TCA will be much better, with good athletes, but still young in areas and not much depth. Best of luck.
  17. Shut Champ, Lowe is just along for the ride during the Spring. He simply loves being around the coaches and players. Ask Redsman, JV has a lot less pressure. Also, I am pretty sure Lowe is not leaving FC as long as they will keep him..
  18. Fixed it. Can't believe I left out the basketball one.
  19. Great job FC! It is about finding ways to win and advance, which you guys did. Grace has a strong team and I would expect we will have to play them again. It is evident Silverdale is legit! You don't beat the 3 time reigning champ and not be one of the teams to beat. Again, great job guys. Big clutch hit by Gunner to end it! Now, stay focused and keep hitting.
  20. Scott's Hill is very scrappy and a good ball team. Swindoll threw lights out and we got a few key hits. Win and advance is the key. Knox Grace can swing it, as we found out last year. Hopefully, we can put another good game together tomorrow.
  21. I would say that Trousdale is going to be very good this season. Like some have said already, last year was a rebuilding year with young players and a rash of injuries. It is evident to me that they have been in the weightroom and combine that with good coaching the end result will make the Jacket's happy. How they are not in the Examiner's top 10 is beyond me. Don't be surprised if they make a run at that little gold ball in Cookeville.
  22. I agree with your post. I believe that FRA will be a force to reckon with this season. Their defense should be very good and they are always well coached.
  23. I didn't realize that he was your son. He impressed me with his toughness when Portland played FC in JV. I am assuming he was the catcher? Coach Hunt didn't realize that he was injured and stole 2nd a few times, then he went down on a throw. Of course, after that the coaches agreed not to steal anymore, but your son stayed in the game and would not come out. Also heard he was one heck of a runningback. Best of luck to him and hope he has a speedy recovery.
  24. Skydogg, hopefully we can both take of business in Districts and Regions and avoid each other in Sectionals. It would be nice to see both Boyd and FC in the State (in opposite brackets) and meet up for the whole thing.
