  1. The best high school team to me was Amy Robertson's senior year Baylor team I believe that was 1994 or 95. The 2001 Beech team might be the second best all round team.
  2. The Elite met the Parker Eagles 7 times during 2001 going 3-3-1 against them, the tie being in the losers bracket finals of the Memorial tournament when the rains hit. The Elite finsihed 13th in the gold nationals and the Eagles 27th. I think we could hang with them fairly well. [Edited by std on 9-27-02 10:18P]
  3. The best 1990's team was Don Lockridge's 1997 18A ASA National Champions Nashville Eagles. Led by Brook Seibel this team was great. The Energizers were a good team but there are at least 5 I can think of off the top of my head that were better (in no specific order: 1. Frank Reed's 16U Parker Eagles in 1996 2. Brentwood Steel 16U in 1995 3. Chris William's 14U-18U Parker Eagles from 1997 2000 4. Frank Reed's 18U Chattanooga Eagles in 1999 5. T.E. Elite 16U in 1998

    Sac fly rule

I think the person is asking about appeal on leaving early on a sac fly not judgement on an infield fly.
  5. I had Lindsey and Leslie for four or five years. Spring and summer. Two great additions to the best program in the southeast.
  6. My daughter played volleyball for this coach for 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Yes this coach is tough, but degrading, NO WAY. She does expect a lot but isn't that what you want from a coach. The expectation she puts on her players is no greater than the expectation she puts on herself. Go beat up on someone else instead of someone who is giving 100% for her team.
  7. Former T. E. Elite pitcher/1b also transfered to UTC. Possibly the best clutch hitter I have ever had. I cannot think of a player I would rather have than Leslie at the plate with a runner in scoring position and the game on the line. Frank has the know how to make this team work. always has always will.
  8. How do you spell recuit? Good place for your children to go to school. That's how.
  9. The 16U A is in Murfreesboro at theSsportsplex on hwy 231 near the State Farm Ins. headquarters. Same teams playing that were at the NSA state last week. Starts at 10:00 AM Saturday.

    NSA 16U State

Two to three times per year over the past 8 years. We were 0-2 against them last year (1-0 and 8-5) but we didn't pitch Pieroni and we only faced Stanfill once. Our games fell during weeks of big district games and these two usualy got the day off. We also play one or two times preseason. [Edited by std on 7/1/02 12:30A]

    NSA 16U State

    T. E. Elite takes 16U title over Yankettes. Yankettes win first round of finals 5-3 then Elite takes if nec game 1-0. I was not there (dead period for HS coaches) but understand the games were very good. Stanfill and Peironi prove deserving of their all-state honors as well as Blitz, Eagles, and Extreme pitchers. This group of young pitchers who are now in he 16U classification from a number of teams are going to go at it for many years. Strong competition will only make our state programs improve and hopefully compete on a national level. [Edited by std on 6/30/02 10:29P]
  12. Temper, temper. Probably not at a church affiliated school.
  13. We actually had a winning record against the Energizers our rivalry was always Parker as the Energizers were usually a year behind. Beech is still there and their future looks bright. The core of T E Elite has been Beech and Goodpasture along with some great players from other schools. By the way I have a mouth full of teeth now.

    All Mid State

Looks to me like they left out some large public school players. I guess 8AAA didn't have a single player worthy of first or second team. This makes for a good argument to go back to a single team for each class. [Edited by std on 6/7/02 6:31P]

    Spring Fling Vote

Murfreesboro get my vote. No field of dreams but a good facility at MTSU for the finals. Hotel rates will be out of site in Memphis and it's really not softball country there although soccer and baseball in the area are strong. The spring fling should be "central" for east and west team travel logistics. Chattanooga spring flings hold a lot of fond memories for me personally and I really hate not going there. But hey we spend half of our summers there don't we. As far as safety goes I've made the wrong turn in Chattanooga plenty of times and ended up in areas I wasn't comfortable in. I went to school in Memphis for two years and never had any trouble except for a stabing outside of my dorm window and a few sexual assaults on campus, slit tires and stolen car but hey those things happen. The Boro is a great place by me.
  16. There is no doubt some great players will be left out, there is no way not to. Feelings will get hurt and people will get on this board and whine (me included). But let's not do like a few people did last year and name specific girls who we think shouldn't have made it.
  17. There's no Bea's Resturant in Memphis!!!

    NO SHOW UMPS!

In my opinion the umpires at the Snyder-Oliver (I guess we should start calling it the Memorial Tournament) just kind of phone in the games. The were very inconsistant on strike zones and showed very little hustle on the field. Most are there for the cash. These girls deserve more than what the are getting. Our ball club is there for a reason. To play ball, improve their skills and try to qualifiy for nationals to gain exposure so they have a shot at the next level. Our girls understand that one of the goals is the next level for our players and we stress tht if the want this to come aboard and we will help them all we can. There is a lot of time and effort put into what we are trying to do. Girl on lat years team was offered aid from one or more schools and 13 out of 14 are doing just that. I wish the quality of officials was up to the level of play. It just is not. Regardless of what you say about rival softball organizations, the college coaches follow the ASA over any other. I would bet there was less than 10% at NSA nationals compared to ASA nationals at the 16 and 18 levels. The better teams try to go the ASA route for this very reason. [Edited by std on 6/3/02 11:07P]
  19. I don't have any idea how they select the player of the year but they sure picked a winner in Amy. She is one of those players who does everything you ask of her with no questions asked. Totally team oriented and not all about herself. I am very proud to have had the opportunity to have her on my team in the past and enjoy watching her play.
  20. Amy Wright Catcher Ezell Katherine Card Utility Baylor The Pitcher from Maryville cannot remeber her name.
  21. I guess it's just like in the real world. Any coach worth his salt plays the players who can get the job done for the team. Talent/ability should rise above politics or friendship. You are cheating the team if you don't go after the win when you are playing above the rec level. Which brings me to my real point: PARENTS ARE BLIND In 19 seasons of fastpitch coaching you always have a few parents who do not see the separation of talent among players and who think that their child is being overlooked by the coach as she is better than who he is playing. This makes for a miserable season for the coachs, players and parents. Sometimes attitude and effort is a factor when a coach plays a lessor talent over the so called superstar. Sometimes it's just parents need to open their eyes. If you are on a high level competetive team, chances are the coach is a much better judge of talent than most parents are and he is in charge/responsible for the teams success or failure. If a parent doesn't like what is happening quit or keep it to themselves and move on at the end of he season. Above all don't make it a distraction to the efforts of the team for that season.
  22. Just saw the post from screwyblaze. Sam has a solid team.
  23. Which TE Elite 16U game did you come to? We went 3-2 with a lot of defensive mistakes. Beat the Chatt. Eagles 5-2 in our only pool game. Beat Knox Thunder 4-0, then the Chatt Heat 6-1. Lost to Chatt Eagles 3-2 in tie breaker then basically folded against GA SWAT 5-3. Stanfill pitched her heart out and Pieroni pitch good despite being on crutches up until Thursday night. Only one earned run all weekend and that was in the pool game. A lot of infield errors. No excuses just not meshed yet. The Lilburn T-Birds looked like the team to beat in 16U. Left early this morning so don't know results. Please fill me in if you know. [Edited by std on 6/2/02 8:39P]
