  1. And the rumors would be??? Not Clinton or Obama? That would be bad.....
  2. Actually if you look around the valley I'm pretty sure it's shown to be common for coaches to change every few years. The exceptions to that would be Vic at SP and Ken at Marion during their long runs. Other than that it's pretty common for it to change around. Being the head coach of most anything is a thankless job these days. There's not a football coach I know that doesn't have someone wanting them gone about 5 minutes after they're hired. It's not right but it is the nature of the beast. Anyone that wants to be a head football coach is nuts. However...the ones I've seen be successful were/are pretty much nuts. Ken, Vic, Pickett, Sid Fritts..... I really don't think I've ever known a successful football coach that was 100% sane......
  3. BTW.... I really miss you as President GW.....
  4. They haven't posted anything. They haven't said if they're going to form a committee.... They haven't said much. I can't see any movement until after the Christmas break. I'm sure Casey will apply and will have strong considerations. There will likely be some other locals apply as well. I've also heard talk for 2 years or better about going after another "name" or two. I don't think anyone could predict it right now. They're in the middle of deciding about a new AD and that seems to be an interesting debate. But I can't see anything happening until mid January or later. Right now I just hope they give the Bass Team coach a raise. I hear he's doing a pretty good job.
  5. Just a little history if you will...... Longest tenures in Grundy football history - John A. Anderson 10 years 1926-35 Chris Pickett 8 years 1989-96 Nick Bryant 6 years 2009-14 John A. Anderson 5 years 1942-46 Ed Cantrell 5 years 1966-70 Horace Moore 4 years 1951-54 Roy Ferguson 4 years 1955-58 Doug Pittenger 4 years 1974-77 Moose Bouldin 4 years 1981-84 (all 4 of my years...9-31...yes I'm still bitter..) Ken Colquette 4 years 2001-04 Note- Greg Brewer had a total of 5 years. 1998-00 and 2005-06 And - Chris Pickett had another season for a total of 9. The year he died 2007. Not sure if any of this matters at all in the discussion but I figured it was worth throwing in. DL.
  6. Just amazed that CPA has held Alcoa scoreless. Been home sick and got to watch this game. I figured we'd see a lot more than 7 points total. 1:48 left......
  7. Been several years. Need to go look that up.
  8. Some folks might be upset because we're a 7 seed and Bledsoe who we beat is 6. The fact that we have no quality wins (wins over teams with winning records) is what knocks us down to that spot and gives us the longest road trip in the quad.
  9. 1. Will kickoff be at 7:30 Eastern? 2. If I can't make it who can send me score by score updates so I can Tweet to the Grundy faithful? 3. Score predictions?
  10. A trip to Upperman for Grundy makes life a lot easier for me than a trip to East Nashville. Working in Cookeville I can enjoy a nice dinner and then go to the game. I hope you're dead on with that one.
  11. Senior Terrince Bramhall, Grundy County. 3A Lineman. Defense- 52 solo tackles, 23 assists, 12 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 2 fumbles caused, 2 passes broke up, 1 blocked field goal. Offense- 9 carries, 60 yards, 1 TD, 1 2-point conversion.
  12. Not liking the idea that Grundy ends up in a quad putting us on the road to Nashville. Not fond of road trips anymore.
  13. What's the latest on district possibilites for next year?
  14. So let's say Grundy beats Bledsoe and Cumberland and loses to Notre Dame. They would end at 5-5 and 3-2. Are they still out?
  15. Gerry... Just because I'm curious. Let's say Grundy finishes 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the district beating Bledsoe next week and losing to Notre Dame in the final game. You still see a Sequatchie rematch?
  16. Grundy wins and locks in a playoff spot.
  17. Wanna bet? Doesn't matter who coaches up here. Someone always wants them out 5 minutes after they're hired.
  18. Thank you to the Signal Mountain fans for their support of Coach Dees!
  19. Just a reminder to the Signal fans..... We're selling chances on 2 Titans tickets tonight for the game with the Steelers on MNF. They will be given away after the 3rd quarter. Chances are $2 each or 3 for $5. Every dime of this goes to the Dees family. Please join in this tonght. There will be a table set up near the endzone in front of the concession stand.
  20. Just got word that Notre Dame sent a check for $1900! Thank you Notre Dame!
  21. Need to have anyone who is going to fish registered for this one by Friday 9-19-14 so BASS can ensure we have enough goodie bags. This is open to any SAF or BASS registered team. You must be one or the other for insurance. Questions? call or text me 931-235-6216
  22. Old Pirate - I'm hoping you didn't mean to post what you did on the Notre Dame helping Coach Dees thread. I'm guessing that was meant for a game thread? Anyway, I deleted it. That thread is only about the schools and people helping Coach Dees. Have no problem with that post in a thread about us playing ND or whoever but not in the thread about schools helping with the house fire and loss. Tried to send this in a PM but I guess you're not a plus member. DL.
