Drop this thread and get back to discussing football. The boys are being disciplined, leave it at that. None of us are so perfect that we need to become judge and jury. Please try and remember that no matter how big these kids are physically, they still have the minds of kids. I agree that discipline has to administered, but let's leave that to the coach and school officials. I do not know this coach or the principal at this school but I trust that they are capable of handling this situation. This is an unfortunate situation, let's not make it worse.

Cody Walker may be the best freshman to play in the Sequatchie Valley in a long long time. The boy is very impressive and has a great attitude towards the game. John Patrick is a super athlete, but his attitude is not as good. SP is loaded with good players. Whitwell has Steven Austin, Myles Parris, and Jonathan Pellam. Sequatchie has better athletes than people think. This senior class as 8th graders went undefeated in the valley, they had a promising future.

North Division Champion Spring City Middle School plays South Division Champion Bridgeport Middle School for the Sequatchie Valley Conference Title tonight. The game is in Spring City at 6:00 CST. Should be a great one.

I always hear, "Boyd has the best team money can buy"and "the best team from Marion County". Grow up people! Boyd is a private school and therefore has kids from all over the state. Yes, a couple of the great football players on this year squad are from Marion County. I think a lot of this push to send kids to private schools is with the thought of wanting to "better" your child's education or give them a Christian education. I know some of it is sports related, but a lot of it is parents trying to do what they think is best for their kids. You can't fault parents for that. My children are in public schools and are receiving a great education. If I had any doubt in that I would send my to a private school. It's America, the freedom of choice. SOUTH PITTSBURG BY 3. Whitwell by 4 touchdowns. This should not be game of the week anywhere. Marion 152; "it doesn't matter what happened last year or for the last 15 years, it's what happens this year." At Howard High School, we have heard a few racial slurs in our time. That happens everywhere; not just in Whitwell. Ingnorance is widespread, and believe it or not, it is in Jasper also. I attend many ballgames in the Sequatchie Valley and have seen poor sportsmanship out of all the teams in Marion County. Marion County's gross display after the win over Whitwell 2 years ago, just might have been the greatest lack of class that I've ever seen after a high school ballgame. Down right shamefull! Whitwell also showed themselves a little after this years win. I don't even have to mention the S. P. Pirates, they are infamous around the state. The sad thing is that it is usally not the players or cheerleaders, it's the fans. A bunch of boys that don't have the guts or the heart to strap on the pads and a bunch of loud mouth girls that have nothing at all to do with the game. We have a principal and coach that has helped us control this type of behavior. Sequatchie Valley football is some of the best in the state, I hope it can stay that way. If Whitwell/Marion Co./S.P. can't control the senseless acts of stupidity, then they need to quit playing each other.

Whitwell didn't slip up on anyone, they wipped Marion Co.'s tail. This is the worst Marion Co. team that I have ever seen take the field. They are small, slow, and not very talented. Marion Co. should also write the Tyner coach a thank you letter, because when Tyner played Marion Co. they could have put up 90 points. Grundy will beat Marion Co. by at least 3 touchdowns, and God help them when they get South Pittsburg. Wake up Marion Co. and smell the Java, you're not that good (home or away). Come play Howard next year!!!

Amen!!! There are some great coaches in the middle schools around the state, many better than some of the guys coaching on Friday nights. Just because a teacher chooses to teach a lower age group doesn't mean that he is any less of a coach. There are also many coaches in TN high school football that could be on college staffs. Most often middle school games are more enjoyable and more evenly match than high school games.

All the coaches at Anderson County High School are top notch.

South Pittsburg is returning almost every starter and is bringing up a middle school team the won the SVC championship last season. S.P. will have a freshman back on the bench next year that would be starting if he were at Boyd.(Cody W.) I hope Boyd enjoyed last season, I have a feeling that the S.P. vs. Boyd game will be a different story next year. Boyd will wear FC out. I have seen both teams play, Boyd will win by at least 3 touchdowns.

If South Pittsburg comes out ready to play, South Pittsburg will win easily. I know Monterey said that they have got some speed, you don't have South Pittsburg speed. I've watched both teams play, it could get ugly. Speed Kills!!!!

Monterey is a good football team. Good size on the line and has a pretty good back. If SP overlooks them, Monterey could win this one. Vic will have S.P. ready though, S.P. by 20. I saw Lipscomb play Boyd, good football team. This will be a closer game: Marion 24 Lipscomb 30

The only thing the Boyd coaches will have to worry about, is what subs they will put in during the 2nd quarter. Boyd has too many weapons for Watertown. I am sure Coach Akins will exhibit good sportsmanship.(I hope his players take his lead!!!!!!!)

It is not every year, but there are years that 1A teams could beat most other teams in the state. The South Pittsburg state champion team from the 90's(with Eddie Moore,Pickett, and Starkey), they were absolutely the best team in the state that year. Any person who went to the state title games that year will tell you, they were the best of the best. The kids off that team that played in the East/West shrine game and the Kentucky/Tennessee high school game dominated all play. There are 1A schools right now in Tenn. that can play and beat most 4A or 5A teams. As for "envy" of another class, that is stupid. I played at a 5A school and the program wasn't any better than a lot of smaller schools.(and we went 10-1 and into the second round of the playoffs) Some of your best college recruits come out of smaller schools.

1A Ezell Harding (sorry Boyd, you got mauled) 2A Tyner (really a great team, will be hard to beat) 3A Trousdale Co. (experience, always well coached) 4A Maryville (too strong) 5A Lincoln County (very athletic team) Div II (who cares)

I will say that both teams have a valid argument about their team. They are both good teams. So quit beating the dead horse!!!!! The comment about Boyd having the best team in Marion County, that was a stupid comment. Everyone already thinks that you recruit from around the area(????), why add fuel to the fire. By making those comments, you make it difficult on those kids who have legitimately chosen to go to boyd. If you are a true Boyd fan, you would do like Coach Akins asked and quit talking trash on Coach T. For the BBucs football player that keeps making stupid comments, "You need to worry about playing, and keep your mouth closed". Don't forget, you still have to go to middle and west Tennessee to play in the playoffs.(you guys are just another average or below average team out there) In the past both teams have shown a lack of class at times (surprise, so has every other team in the state of Tennessee). We are dealing with High School kids, it happens. If the coaches know that it is happening and still let it go, then that's another story. I know both Coach Akins and Coach Grider pretty well, they are quality guys who run quality programs. They are not going to let stuff like that slide. As for sharpening the helmet buckles, that's crap. You're insane for even saying it on this thread. Unless I saw someone sharpening the buckle or I actually had the buckle off his helmet, I would never accuse anyone of a deed like this, especially a kid. There are many things that could have cut his arm. I wouldn't talk too much trash; South Pitt. isn't dead, just reloading. They have had the best Jr. High teams in the area the past two seasons. If anyone in the "catpack" has enough pull or influence over the administration of ORHS to have them change anything, then it must not be the school I thought it was or they have a weak principal.(Unless one of you is the superintendent of schools in Oak Ridge) The importance of running that school is far more important than whether Oak Ridge dominates in football (or it should). This coach seems to be doing a pretty darn good job at coaching football. If he is a good person and good teacher, leave him alone.

Please remember that when these players say and do stupid things, they are still not adults. Try to remember when you were that age. The thought process is a little different. I'm sure that this kid is OK, a bit misguided maybe, but OK. With pro football role models pulling pens out of their socks after a big touchdown catch to sign autographs, what do we expect. It's just High School football, lets not get too personal in our comments. Talk about the schools or the teams, but not the kids personally. Didn't Copper Basin Beat Polk County??? Be glad that you don't have to beat Meigs in Week 10, you won't. Don't be so excited about finishing 2nd. Polk is a good football team, good enough to get beat in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs. Talk smack when you make it to Murfreesboro. Go Tyner Rams!!!!!!
