  1. Brentwood High School Bill Whittemore signed and released from the Atlanta Falcons Presently signed with the Nashville Kats Arena League Matt Davenport shortly played in the Arena Leage ( Louisville Fire)
  2. Well this Brentwood fan stands corrected. I posted earlier in the week that I don't believe that anyone could get the best of Coach Crawford twice in one season. Congratulations to Franklin that did. Franklin simply played a complete game and Brentwood did not. The Rebels came out and took it to the Bruins. Well, as a graduate of 1999, I really wanted to see Brentwood avenge our loss to Hendersonville in 98. Since that was the last time Brentwood has faced them. But for the first time in my life I am going to have to yell out Go Rebels!! Congrats on a huge win , and please take it to the Commandos for me. Good Luck!
  3. Brentwood has looked good and bad this year. It is going to depend on which Brentwood team shows up to play. If Franklin wants to pull this one off, they can not play like they did in the first half of the last Bwood , Franklin game. Brentwood just gave them way too many opportunities to close the game and it finally bit us in the butt. But in order to beat Coach Crawford two times in one season, you better not let it come down to chance late in the game again. You can bet that Crawford will not be had twice in one season by the same team with outsomething going out of plan. This will be a great game and I really have no idea who is the superior athletic team, but like I said this one has already been won somewhere in the coach's play book.
  4. Rebel, I just wanted to congratulate you on the big Franklin win. As you know I am a Brentwood fan and alumni. You have always been a class act on CoachT. I know how much this win means to you. So let me be the first to congratulate you. Franklin deserved this win. Brentwood just gave them way too many opportunities to come away with the win. Good luck with the rest of the season and hope to see you again in November. ODeuce
  5. Ravenwood should be a good program in the next couple of years. You can't just say that they are going to be good because of the location, look at Centennial. Not to start anything but the football program hasn't quite made its mark yet. Being a former player of Jack Daniels I can say that he is a very great man and coach. He would bring a great program to the school, but he probably won't stay there for very long. He has a son at Brentwood that could be a player next year ( his Junior year) so I'm sure that Jack is going to want to watch his boy play in the next couple of years. So it is up to the principle and the parents to find his replacement. Parents have a major role in deciding on a new coach, you just have to be aggressive to make your voice heard. The football parents at Brentwood single handedly found Coach Daniels and Coach Crawford, which made Brentwood what they are today. So if you want your program to be a contender you have to put in the work too, it isn't all up to the school.
  6. Too bad Hendersonville did make it to state only to be absolutely humiliated. That game was a disgrace to state championships. Oakland pulled them out and laid them on your head, so let it go.
  7. I just think that Brentwood's defense is too powerful. Maryville is a great team don't get me wrong. They have a very powerful offense which is what I love, coming from the Jack Daniel's era of Brentwood High Football. But a strong offense will NEVER beat a strong Defense consistantly. Offense sells tickets, Defense wins games. I just think Brentwood has to strong of a defense for anyone in the state. BA won fair and square in the first game of the year, there are no excuses for that. Give BHS one more shot later in the season and I think things would have been different. I was a little ify on whether Brentwood had the defense to win state, but after seeing the Germantown game I was convinced. The best team in the state last year was the Champs of 5A
  8. You have to give some credit to my Brentwood 98 team Mr. Football QB ( Bill Whittemore) Big 12 newcomer of the yr. Chris Cole ( all state receiver) Matt Davenport ( all state receiver ) Jock Weisner ( all region ) Set records for just about everything. We didn't score ungodly amounts of points, because the starters rarely played in the 4th quarter. Increadible passing game. Pretty good running game.
  9. Lincoln County pit, plus a little home cooking doesn't hurt
  10. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. Dont ever forget who may be looking up to you and following in your steps.
  11. It's not about dieing for your country, It's about making that SOB die for his.
  12. Brentwood was always known for passing a lot, but you kind of have to base your offense around what you have to work with. This year they had more talent to keep the ball on the ground. In the past they had more talent throwing and receiving. In 1998 Bill Whittemore ( now starting QB for the University of Kansas) threw for over 3300 yds. With a 444 yd game against Gallatin. So I guess you just have to find those schools that carry the talent to throw not just the coach that wants to. I'd say Brentwood, Maryville, Ezell and maybe Oakland.
  13. It is not really a big deal that BHS and BA aren't playing each other. It has never even been a rivalry. The only reason that it would seem that way is that they are 1 mile apart, that is it. Sure it would be nice to finally have a shot to beat BA, but it didn't work out. About pleasing the crowd, Brentwood pleased a lot of crowds this year, so as I see it that has nothing to do with it. And why would BHS blink? They have a great program with great " UNRECRUITED" talent. There is no reason that BHS is scared, They won the State Championship for crying out loud.
  14. Boy, you sure seem to turn your back on Brentwood quite often. When you go to Coach Hughes' house for dinner tell him I said hello. Will you?
  15. Austin is an excellent kid. Great athlete, great student, and an even better person. Anyone would be lucky to snatch him up right away. He is someone who could adjust to just about any type of offense you wanted. Austen has something that is very hard to find these days ( Football Knowledge) , he not only is a good athlete, but the things that this kid knows about the game far surpasses many new college QB's. I have seen him play since middle school and would love to have him come spend his college career at MTSU, so I can continue to watch.
  16. I would have to say that Brentwood had an incredible D this year. They never gave up more than 17 points in a game and that was to BA in game 1. Had a turnover margin of +28 ( that is incredible). Defense wins championships every year and that is why Brentwood got it this year.
  17. Not sure but check Riverdale on the David Lipscomb thing
  18. Kyle Willis, Brentwood May not be the best, but is ice cold under pressure. Without him Brentwood may not have been Champs. These days it is so hard to put Trust in a kicker, but Kyle is money under pressure.
  19. - Brentwood- Still a very strong D and a great Running game, Young QB has big shoes to fill, but proved he is good - Riverdale- You just can't ever leave out Riverdale - Germantown- I'm not sure who is returning to the team, but I have never seen such big human beings playing High school football, they are very basic, but very good at it. - Franklin- don't know if they will be as good as this year, but losing your only 2 games to your rival leaves a sour taste in your mouth. Could impress me.
  20. Break stuff- Limp Bizkit Eye of the Tiger Angry American-Toby Keith
  21. Hey buddy, yeah it really was great to finally bring a state championship to the family. Me and my buddies still talk about that game. It definately is a classic. I went to the championship and couldn't believe that you were having trouble with Oakland, we all thought that you were going to walk away with it, but I guess that is how it goes. Any given Friday ( Saturday ) We really didn't know what to do when you came out in the 3-8 defense. I think our coaching staff went crazy. Everyone finally started to understand how to stop our high octane offense. Don't go after Bill! When people started containing him he wasn't at his best. OH, well. It's always good to talk about the past. Keep in touch.
  22. This is actually the stupidest thing that I have read in quite some time. Why do people get off on compairing 2 state champions that haven't even played each other. Both teams where State Champions in their given classes. Just because you have one of the strongest offenses in the state doesn't make you the top dog. Coaching and Defense makes champions. I played for the 98 Bruins and we averaged 376 yds of offense a game and had 3580 total passing yds in one season and never made it the the championship. Maryville has a strong offense, Brentwood has an incredible defense. If you really want to know, put each other on the schedual

    COACH OF YEAR

Congrats go to Brentwood's Coach Crawford who did win coach of the year in 5A. He took a good team and made them great. In his first year as a head coach he won the championship that is signs of a winner. Congratulations Brentwood and Coach Crawford
  24. Thank you coach for being the link that we were missing. You show a true love for the game and a love for all of your kids. Thank you for letting me be a part of it by being on the sidelines with my brother and for letting me be a part of this incredible year. Five seniors on that team are little brothers to me including my own and to be a part of their lives this year and to be able to talk to them on the sidelines will be something that I will never forget. This is something that we as a family have been looking forward to for 8 years and we went out in style. Thanks Coach and good luck in the Fall.
  25. Brentwood, the only team I know to win the 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
