It was a great scrimmage with a great crowd again. It is nice to be on the winning end of this one. REBELRON pretty much says it all. Considering we have had to replace both offensive and defensive lines and our defensive backfield, I think we did very well. It was a good start for our team. Defensively, we played very well against the run and ok against the pass. Offensively, I thought we were effective in moving the ball, both on the ground and in the air. However, there is much to do and improve on for both teams. We have Morristown West coming to Ben Martin next Thursday. Should be another tough test for us.

Oak Ridge has 21.

I think it is a little early to make predictions about a week 3 game, but I think it will be a good one. I have only been here in Oak Ridge for 2 years, but from what I have seen of the last 3 games, the main factor is who can best capitalize on the other teams mistakes with a secondary factor of which team can manage their emotions the best and continue to play at a high level. What makes this game great for me as a fan is to see how big a game it is from the players perspective. That is why you may not see the most well-executed game from both teams, but you will see both teams give it their all. That is why on September 10th, Blankenship Field will be the place to be for High School Football!

Ok Riverdale06, just a few things to clear up. Yes, our visitors bleachers are old, they are the original home stands built in the 40s. I heard they might be replaced soon, but with today's tight budgets, don't count on it. No, things built 60 years are not handicapped accessible, sorry. As for the water, we had over 2 inches of rain the previous 24 hours, which made things a mess. If you thought that there was a lot of water at game time, you should have been there 4 hours before. So, I hope we get to host you all next year, and if we do, come on over! I'll treat you to some BBQ before the game.

Willie (Steve), You beat me to the punch. I think East Tennessee is going to see a great offense performance from Mr. Gulmire. However, he will be part of a deep backfield. BTW, are you going to be able to make it up to Blankenship for a game this year?

As an Oak Ridge Fan, ORPlaYa429 please shut up! If you are an Oak Ridge football player, there is a right way to be enthusiastic about your team and a wrong way. Yours is the wrong way. You never look good running down another team's player. I was at the game last year as well, Lamon had a great game. As I remember right, it took our whole defensive to tackle him. Our team is looking good so far (I was there at practice) and I am looking forward to a great season. Keep up your enthusiasm and be positive about Wildcat football, don't run down another team.

Aren't we just a little off-topic here? It would seem that upsets are in the eye of the beholder. Could Maryville or Riverdale ever upset anyone? I don't think so. If I were a coach, I would like to know that pulling an upset was a stepping stone to building a winning program, where big wins are no longer upsets. BTW, Larry Kerr has done just that at Anderson County.
