  1. You don't have to write a letter. Every football coach reads the messages on CoachT.com If the speakers ain't adjusted, it's the school's fault. They can't say they didn't know about the problem. This is a good opportunity for McKenzie to earn some of the respect they complain about on this board. Maybe the score may not be in Rebel's favor but the school can really shine by making the game experience pleasant to the fans. Here's a corny idea, since it's Halloween, have McKenzie folks passing out Halloween candy on the visitor's side. Be a nice goodwill gesture. I still think the school could make a lot of money by selling chili before the game. And especially if they sell it in the stands cause folks don't want to get up and take a chance on losing their seats. Remember, the 3 most important words in retailing are "Location, Location, Location" I heard a few years ago that McKenzie published the slickest game programs in West TN. Is it still that way? Go, Rebels!!!
  2. There will be a big gate Friday night for the McKenzie-Huntingdon game. Any ideas how McKenzie can be a good host?????? My suggestions are (1) Serve some food for the early arrivers. How about selling chili for a fund raiser for Project Graduation? Huntingdon did this for the Milan game but the only problem I saw was everybody was more concerned about getting a seat. If they came around and sold food in the bleachers, they would have raked in the money. (2) Make sure the local Police are directing traffic after the game. The Huntingdon-Milan traffic was a snafu.
  3. mood1801, You are correct about McKenzie playing 1A for a few years. The Rebels won some games but it didn't mean much. Incidentally, Huntingdon chose to play up a division to 2A. 9yearoldchamps, Before the '99 season, I asked Jeff Morris about moving up to 3A and he said it wasn't significant. He said it was a bigger jump going from A to AA than AA to AAA. hardhead
  4. He got to be the obvious choice for Mr Football unless somebody from a Middle Tennessee school steals the award.
  5. Yep, I would cheer for McKenzie over Huntingdon. My point about the # of students is the larger schools have a natural advantage. But the coaches and community support are more important than sheer number of students. That's how you explain Huntingdon's success over the years. Remember when Milan won the 3A title in '99? Milan was the smallest school in 3A and Portland was one of the largest.
  6. Here's my comments on Huntingdon vs McKenzie.... 1. Huntingdon is the favorite. Everybody knows that. 2. A successful season for McKenzie would be 1-9 if that one win was against Huntingdon. 3. Look at the number of students in the 56 Class 2A schools: #2 Milan, 644 students #3 Westview, 624 students #36 McKenzie, 433 students #46 Huntingdon, 396 students #53 Dresden, 389 students Milan and Westview has a heckuva advantage over Mck, Hunt and Dresden.
  7. I didn't attend the game, I listened on the radio. From what I heard, it appears the Milan's defense won the game. Did Covington's pass defense (rush and coverage) stopped Milan's passing or did West, Walker and Beasley just have a sub-par performance? In the post-game interview, did I hear Morris said Rob Smith was the best player he had ever seen in West Tn? Morris did say Smith is the best running back he had ever coached but Smith was a better safety than running back. I agree with sls that the team is not playing to their potential. They haven't measured up to the '99 squad that won 2A and 3A titles. Milan won't get tested again until they meet Huntingdon or McKenzie in the playoff.
  8. lawdawg, You're correct about the HS coaches being apathetic. I know about a college coach that called a West TN high school coach to inquire a senior. Instead of helping the kid, the HS coach asked, "Why do you want him?" That remark ended the conversation.
  9. Galilee, Here in West Tennessee: the noon meal is dinner the evening meal is supper
  10. purpletrock and baddawg, If Mitchell comes to Milan in the playoffs, why don't yall invite Galilee to the Silver Kitchen before the game? Heck, I'll buy!!!!!
  11. Galilee, You made a good point. Your posts are always classy. Keep 'em coming. Hey, Milan fans. There is no doubt you are headed for a confontation with David Libscomb for the gold football but cool it with the bragging.
  12. Neck, I got some bad news for you. Milan will be beat LC by 4 TD's. Look what they did to Huntingdon. Also, if and when you play Huntingdon or McKenzie don't bet the farm on the Panthers. Good Luck

  14. I second that comment concerning the traffic. I was stuck on Buena Vista road for 20 minutes. Move 5 feet then stop. There should have been a cop at the intersection of Buena Vista and the bypass. But otherwise it was an enjoyable night. Especially the Project Graduation supper. HHS was a perfect host.
  15. Congrats to both teams. Milan had just too many offensive weapons. They had the mustangs confused all night. If Milan's receivers had caught some balls in the 1st half, it could have been over early. I predict H-town will defeat McKenzie in Game 10 and meet Milan in the semis. Now all you Mustange fans get off of Manfield's back. I hear the same thing about Fulmer. Look at their records.
  16. Predictions: Milan 38 Huntingdon 33 **************** McKenzie 34 Dresden 14

    Milan?

Is the 2003 team going to be as good as the '99 squad which went 15-0 and beat Portland for the 3-A title?
  18. Got to be Wade Comer of McKenzie. He lost 21 of 22 starters but still returned to 2A semifinals. Now, that's coaching!
  19. In Class 2A, the Coach of the Year should be McKenzie's Wade Comer. Nobody did more with least. Here's why: Only 1 returning starter. Advanced to the Semi-Finals.
  20. Misshotrod, It was a great football game. Mitchell was a good host. Good luck next week. hardhead.
  21. Good post, Mr Haney. If the Rebel wins the 2A title, Hollywood will make a movie.
  22. Both McKenzie's and Lewis Co's fans need to stop jawing. The game is over. The score indicates both teams were evenly matched. Lewis Co has had an outstanding program for years and based on the last few years, McKenzie is as solid as anyone else in West TN 2A. Yall will meet again next year in the playoffs. The fans need to shake hands like the players did. I wish McKenzie lots of luck against Mitchell.
