  1. Against Alcoa Maryville was driving for a potential win but a huge sack on 3rd down and interception that was returned for a touchdown was the door slammer. Against West Maryville was behind 24 18 with the ball but turned it over. West drove for a touchdown with a few minutes to go to put it away 31 18. The Cleveland loss was very disappointing. Oakland just kicked Maryvilles butt.
  2. All teams that are winning big get kids to transfer in. It's always been that way.
  3. I noticed Jeff County has a DL 2025 that is 6'4 300lbs.
  4. From watching the highlights from 5 star preps the tailback for Bearden ( Purdue commit) looks really good.
  5. 10 years ago Ensworth beat Maryville 49-7 in a scrimmage. The next week East Hamilton got the best of Maryville in a scrimmage. People thought Maryville was done. Maryville went 15-0 and won state. That was one of the better Maryville teams I ever seen.
  6. Maryville vs Alcoa is huge from the Grasshoppers to the High School.
  7. Who is #6? He looked good in highlights I saw on Twitter.
  8. I had a Junior High coach tell be last year that the 7th grade class overall was even better than the 8th grade class. A lot of 7th graders started last year for the Junior High team. Big difference in the 2 classes is Will Jones. Will Jones will be a difference maker. I am not ready to give up on this upcoming Maryville team. Gage is a great running back. Price Davis is going to break out this year. He is 6' 185lbs now. He is bigger, faster and stronger. I feel like Maryville will be strong on the Oline. Blake Heckman is a monster going to Liberty. Logan McGlamery is benching 375lbs and squatting 500lbs. He has starting experience. Alex Boyd is much bigger and stronger. If receivers and quarterback step up offense will be really good. Eli Elkins is a good TE. A lot of kids on defense need to step up. I hope Sam Young can stay healthy. I am hearing good things about Matthew Covert.
  9. One of my favorite wins by Maryville was the 2009 regular season game at Farragut. Farragut was beating Maryville 24-7 in the 1st half. Farragut was looking great in that game. I had to sit on their side because the Maryville side was full. Farragut fans were cocky as can be. They were saying Maryville was nothing. An hour later and 28 straight points later those same fans went from saying Maryville is nothing to Maryville cheats.
  10. Maryville has won 17 championships under the playoff system. Only Alcoa has won more but head to head Maryville owns a 66-25 lead in the series. That means Alcoa would have to win 42 straight to overtake Maryville in the series. I would be over 100 years old if that happened. What cracks me up is a guy from Cheatham County jumps on the Alcoa bandwagon. I guess since Cheatham County hasn't never won anything you need to find someone else to root for. You have no affiliation to Alcoa but you are their biggest cheerleader. It reminds me of all these Tennessee born and bred people jumping on the Alabama bandwagon.
  11. Oakland has passed Maryville. I am not ready to say Alcoa and West passed Maryville. West has only beaten Maryville twice. It took their best team in history to do it. I know one of the assistants told my brother that he thinks Maryville will be good. He said the kids have really worked hard this off season.
  12. Powell may have lost a bunch of skill players. From what I remember they have their whole offensive line coming back. It will probably be them vs West again in the semifinals.
  13. 2005 team had more star talent. But! The Alcoa 2009 and 2010 teams were way better up front. When the 2009 and 2010 teams would line up in that Stack I with that big #73 at fullback,Taharin Tyson behind him and Daryl Warren behind Tyson it was unstoppable. Plus you had to deal with Jaron Toney in 2009 and Vee Hambrick in 2010.
  14. 2009 and 2010. Both those teams ran it right at you and wasn't nothing you could do about it.
  15. Maryville plays Alcoa and West. I expect Central to be a tough game.
  16. I have a feeling Maryville will surprise some people. I do know this. Maryville has a great upcoming freshmen class coming up. I also think the upcoming Junior and sophomore classes are pretty good. Will Jones will be a star one day. Will led Maryville Junior High to a perfect season. That hasn't happened at Maryville Junior High in awhile. There were other good players on that Junior High team. One of the Junior High coaches told me the 7th grade group is stronger than the 8th grade group. The future is bright at Maryville.
  17. I heard Lipscomb is playing IMG. Is that true?
  18. 1A. 97 Trousdale or 2000 CPA 2A. 2003 Huntington 2003 and the Alcoa teams.
  19. Best players in Maryville history were Danny Spradlin and Aaron Douglas. Danny Spradlin led Maryville to a state championship in 1976. He started at Linebacker for 2 seasons at UT. Danny also played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys. Aaron Douglas was a great tight end at Maryville. He helped Maryville win 3 State Titles in Football and another one in Basketball. He started at RT for the Vols before he Transfered to a Juco. He was going to start for Bama at LT but tragedy struck. Aaron died in May of 2011. No doubt in my mind he would have been an NFL player. The most unsung player at Maryville has to be John Garrett. John Garret had the best season of any Maryville football player I ever seen in my years of watching Maryville Football. In 2013 Maryville went 15-0 and won State. Crazy thing is since 1997 Maryville has had a bunch of Quarterbacks play college football. John Garrett didn't play College Football. John Garrett was 6' 160lbs and ran a 4.9 Forty. He wasn't the best athlete. But! What John Garrett did was run the zone read to perfection. He almost always made the right read. By far the smartest quarterback ever at MHS. He was cool as a cucumber. He had 45 touchdowns running and passing with only 2 turnovers. 2013 was one of the funnest seasons ever.
