  1. Sorry about the repeated info on the Ootlewah score, somehow I just refreshed to see page 2 on this topic.
  2. According to the CoachT scoreboard Ootlewah won 3-2.
  3. The original entry in this thread asked if underclassmen can be team leaders. I hope that people know the difference between a leader and a Captain. A team Captain is usually a ceremoinal role, limited to coin flips and pre-game cheers. As a coach, you would hope that the Captains are also your leaders. A leader is the girl who wants the bat in her hand in clutch situations. A leader is the girl who hustles everyday in practice. A leader is the girl who will go up to a teammate who has just struck out and offer encouragement. One year the leader on my daughters team was sitting out a transfer year and never played a single game. If you polled the girls, she would have come out on top because she made the rest of them practice and play harder. Leaders are not elected, are not appointed, and are not annointed. An opposing coach can point out the leaders on each team he has played, even when he can't tell you what grade they are in. If your daughter is truly a leader, no coach can keep the other players on the team from following her. If you are worried that she has not been given the title of Captain as an underclassman, be patient and realize that her time will come.
  4. There are alot of really good players that have not signed to play anywhere. What is the deal? I know some are going to college on academic scholarships, not athletic, are they listed in signees if they are still going to play softball in college?

    Beech 2006

Is Tara Carver playing this year?
  6. You are correct in the fact that a request not to play a certain team is for pool play, not elimination brackets in most tournaments. 99% of the time you would request not to play teams in your district or teams that you are already scheduled to play in the regular season. In tournaments you like to see new teams that you don't regularly play.
  7. OK, who is good in the west in AA?
  8. I don't know alot about East or West Tennessee, but here is my guess for the Middle before the first pitch of the year: 8AA Goodpasture 9AA Ezell Harding 10AA Marshall County 11AA Creek Wood Not really going out on any limbs here. Each district has more than one quality team so there should be good competition for the titles.

    District 8AA

I am not that familiar with either DCA or White House but I know that Goodpasture has plenty of talent coming back this year. They just need some players to step into the leadership roles that last years Senior class had held for the past few years. They still have the talent to make them the team to beat in the district. Greenbrier is in a very similar situation. They lost a great Senior class that had literally played together since elementary school. They still have solid talent, and solid coaching so they will be tough to beat, but someone has to step up and be a leader for them to go very far.
  10. What time does the clinic start? The 3:30 rules meeting, will that be the same information as the one to be held the 23rd at Hunters Lane?
  11. Here are some rock solid predictions. 1) It will be way too cold to be playing outside to start the season. 2) People will be unhappy with the public/private split. 3) Umpires will be the cause of most every loss. 4) My team has excited fans, your fans are rude. 5) Any girl that doesn't start is on the bench because of politics. Let's try to remember that this is a game, it is for the girls, not the parents, and wherever we are, there are young eyes watching what we do and say. Merry Christmas to all, and a good 2006 Season. Pray for our troops in the Middle East!
  12. What about some of the pitchers from southern Middle Tennessee, Owen from Lincoln, Lintz from Marshall, Ford from CA?
  13. Why are there so few players listed here? Is it a lack of girls signing early or people just not posting? I would have thought there would be 30-40 names. The only one that I know of not listed so far is Megan Williams of siegel going to UT Martin.
  14. Well, I guess the question about record number of games without a fight is out the window. I understand and appreciate a fight during the flow of the game. Heck, I know I couldn't play this game and not fight, but premeditaded fights like I saw last night don't do anything to promote the game. At least it was Barnaby that was getting thumped! How he thinks that he wins a fight by getting his melon bashed for a minute then wrestling a guy to the ground is a new concept. But now we know we can win a skill game or a muscle game. By the way, we are having a wonderful start to the year and have a really exciting team that should do well all year. Just be careful and not get ahead of ourselves by asking if they could win the Stanley Cup. It's way too early.
  15. Does anyone know of another team that has started 7-0 without a fighting major? What is the record for consecutive games without a fight?
  16. It will be interesting to see if the officials contiinue to call the interference and hooking as close as they are now. If so the Preds will have a good year with speed on offense and defense. I did notice a problem in clearing the front of the net. Maybe this year we'll send some guys to the front of the goal.
  17. Has anyone had any experience with the USAAI organization. They have invited my daughter to play in Belgium this summer and I am trying to find out about them. Any information would be appreciated, positive or negative.
  18. Crazyvolfan, if you want it to happen in your area, it won't. If you work to make it happen it will. To many of us try to wish opportunities into realities instead of putting the effort into forming a league. If it would be of help to the girls in your high school, find some like minded people at some of the neighboring schools and see if you can set something up on an informal basis for this year. If it works, people will be looking for you in the future to see if they can join in. Don't believe me, look at the MTSCA and what they have accomplished in a couple of years.
  19. What teams are playing a fall season and where are you playing, Hendersonville, Cane Ridge, or other?
  20. How have the Tennessee teams done in some of the year end tournaments, nationals or showcase tournaments?
  21. I know when we left the Eagles and Extreme Edge were left in the winners bracket and Sting and Thunder were in the losers. Who ended up winning?
  22. There is a tournament at Fly Park in Franklin next weekend I believe.
  23. ASA 18u A is being played at Cane Ridge this weekend.

    Figuring ERA

When figuring era, does the runner placed at second in an international tiebreaker count as an earned run if she scores with no errors?
  25. With the high school season still going in Tennessee, what 18u Teams will be playing 5/28-29 in Chattanooga. This is where we see how much of an advantage the Georgia teams have by playing their HS season in the fall.
