  1. Well, I said 15. Missed that. But I told you to watch out for Kinney. Good run and good win in knocking out Bradford. Good luck to LC against Gleason and then against either Scotts Hill or TCA in the sub-state.
  2. You can expect a loss. Seriously, LC will press your Rockets end to end for four quarters. They bring a ton of team speed and two girls (Kinney and ? - not sure) who can take over a game in a hurry. LC by 15.
  3. I think red is just glad to be out of school now so he can post baseball stuff on here. Coach Scott might have had something to say about it while you were playing. Did TCA and Huntingdon really tie in the third game on Monday - someone said that on another thread. What happened there?
  4. What about Humboldt/TCA - score there? Also, how did everyone look?
  5. What a weird turn of events indeed with these match-ups. My picks are all four 14A teams to win. Then you have Gleason/UC and Lake Co/Bradford in the semi-finals for a trip to substate. Gleason wins by 10+, but what a game the LC/Bradford game should be. I'll wait before making my pick on that one.
  6. Yes, congratulations for being nominated, but he'll have to wait another year. The best team in the state is in Union City, but this year's best player is Skogen at TN Temple. Union City is not a one-man show, however - Temple is. No one in Class A can play with this group.
  7. This de-legitimizes all of District 15. Unless Middleton or Westside are head and shoulders above District 15, then Humboldt, Lake Co., and Union City (whichever two make it) will devour their opponent in the sub-state. I have heard the bragging all year about Adamsville's size and athleticism. I almost lost my lunch when reading the article about the "jam fest" in the latest On the Ball Magazine from Adamsville.
  8. In West TN: Gibson Co - Charlie Ligon JCM - Shane Schlict Crockett Co. - Jared Faust Westview - Brian Allen
  9. Was he a teacher in the system as well? I thought he was the asst. principal?
  10. First - crow is right about the field. The best, hands down, in West TN. Next - in looking back at cpt's posts, he's either the kid from JCM that has transferred to McKenzie or his dad. Stop talking yourself/your kid up. Let the play on the field do it. Even if he is the #1 starter, as you claim, he can't wear the cleats of the guy he's replacing.
  11. Classy post, GF. What's the work on CoachT's replacement? Would Coach Liggett at the middle school be interested or even considered? Do you think the fact the girls knew about his leaving affected their effort?
  12. So what's the story here Milan folks? One of your starters quitting before the season is over? Is this a riff between player/coach? Was he a senior?
  13. Congratulations to Coach Paschall and the Lady Devils for advancing to region play! Good luck to all four teams on Friday (UC vs. Bradford, Gleason vs. Lake Co.)
  14. I actually think that OC won both in the district, region, and sub-state rounds (not a requirement to go to the state tournament then). Humboldt then got the only win over the Lady Rebels in the state championship game. Someone from Humboldt or OC might be able to settle this for sure, though.
  15. How are things going at JCM with a new coach? Hopefully, baseball will become a little more of a priority there than it has in the past 3-4 years since Coach Kennedy left.
  16. Let me assure you that Coach Odle will not give him the choice - it will be made for him whether it is to catch or not.
  17. Huntingdon, Adamsville, and JCS have to be the favorites. A'Ville returns virtually the same team that played in the sub-state last year, while Huntingdon returns the entire pitching staff from a state tournament team. Union City and Halls in 14-A are always tough, but lost a lot of seniors. Humboldt doesn't concern anyone because they have no one that can hit. Bradford actually returns its entire lineup minus one, as does Peabody, but those teams always have trouble winning big games. McKenzie lost the most, but play in a very weak district behind Huntingdon. If they can find a #1 starter, they'll have a chance in May as well. TCA or Riverside could also sneak up on JCS in 15-A as well.
  18. Not sure what you think a "good job" is, but why would anyone take you seriously when these are your first two posts ever?
  19. OK. This is what I get for being out a few days. To respond to a few earlier posts about enrollment. The 1/3 thing is the truth, not a theory. They do break the schools into thirds, then create an enrollment number to work from. Next, the reason the enrollment numbers you got from the report card are different from the ones used to classify is because they are from different years. The report card changes each year, while enrollment numbers for classification purposes are done every four years. Also, Whitby is not going anywhere and if he does, Coach Newsom doesn't want the boys. Good luck to him and the Jr. High team playing tonight in the West TN championship game in Memphis, though. Finally, the district will probably shake out with Lake Co. vs. Union City in the championship game, with Humboldt and Bradford in the consolation. The kicker is - this probably puts Bradford on the same side with whoever (probably Lake Co.) finishes runner-up in the region - interesting match-up to say the least. It also puts Humboldt vs. Union City in the semis, most likely sending the Vikings home.
  20. What about the deal with Gardner? Is the school board meeting to discuss his future tonight or has it already happened?
  21. You are correct, sls is from Milan. I just remember this from a couple of years ago on the boys' board. Sorry to blow your cover.
  22. M.J. Brown (Union City) Justin Blake (Dyer Co.) Ricky Taylor (Haywood) Channing Geanes (Lake Co.) Jeremy Rhodes (Bolivar) All of these deserve mention. Some that have been that do not make the "top juniors" list: E.J. Epperson (Humboldt) - Can't score outside of three feet. Brennan Torstrick (USJ) - Being tall doesn't make you a player. He dominates the TCAs and JCSs of the world, but has been a non-factor against more athletic opponents like Haywood Erin Harris (Clarksburg) - Put him in the district with UC, Humboldt, and Lake Co. and watch that scoring average plummet.
  23. I agree that this argument is old and tired. No AA school has bargained to play down with the TSSAA. The state takes enrollment numbers from each school and divides the entire Division I schools into three equal parts. The top 1/3 gets put in AAA, the bottom 1/3 becomes class A, while the rest reside in AA. End of story. Stop crying about it. Get better and compete. Don't say that your school can't compete either. Three of the smallest schools in the district are the top three in girls' basketball (Gleason, Greenfield, and Lake Co.). If Humboldt and Union City were not in the boys, then Greenfield would still be behind Lake Co., Bradford, Dresden, and Peabody - still left out in the cold come regional tournament time.
