  1. First of all. Let me say that I do like the enthusiasm of the group of East Hickman fans that post on here but at the same time I don't know whether to admire or be concerned about some people there. (Just being honest.) I actually wish some of our fans had SOME of that enthusiasm. This is comical though. This sounds exactly like some of the past, early season posts by some East Hickman fans that have appeared on this board. In previous seasons there's also been predictions for multiple early season games so it hasn't always involved the same opponent. I think I understand how it works. They tend to get excited about results/wins against some WISELY SCHEDULED non-district, but weak, schools. Every school has these fans and everyone can tend to do it from time to time so like I said I understand why this attitude has been portrayed by their fans on here in previous season. You'd just hope that their would also be some logic involved in their posts too. Maybe that just means that they're simply young and nieve. Either way I actually feel a little sorry for them. It has to be frustrating to start a football program, from the ground up, in a rural county. It can't be easy on everyone involved... But back to the topic of this thread. Who knows, but unless East Hickman has alot of new additions to their roster as well as a new atmosphere surrounding their program then I highly doubt this game will be competitive past the first quarter. To be fair, I haven't seen either team play this season so I'm basing this on previous seasons trends as well as both school's first two games so far this season. So again, I admire the enhusiasm of the East Hickman fans, but in all likelyhood this game will not be kept close past the early stages of the game. Good luck to everyone involved though.
  2. I won't pretend to know who will win between Sycamore and Giles County, but I will chime in on this... You're right that Giles County has had a very good season and that you can't help how weak the district was/is overall. But Giles County could've helped the joke of a holiday tournament they chose to play in... I'll say this too. I just thought it was pretty sad when I heard that Kedren Johnson sat out 6 1/2 minutes or so of the 3rd quarter and Giles County still couldn't close it out and win with him on the bench for almost a quarter of the game. And don't get me wrong. I am far from a Kedren Johnson fan. His antics and the crap he got away with for four years, in mainly district play, was a joke. So, him getting four fouls early in a game, for once, was probably more than overdue. I just thought it was pretty bad that Giles County couldn't build enough of a lead in the 3rd quarter of the Region championship considering 3/4 of the Marshall County team (Kedren Johnson) was on the bench so long.
  3. Thanks for the updates. It's appreciated.
  4. I know I'm biased and being selfish because I care about the game, but man do I wish that the Spring Hill-East Literature game was later at a more prime time. Even if I try to look at the game from a non-biased standpoint I still think this game is the most attractive/interesting of the games scheduled for the first day. Does anyone disagree?
  5. ... I don't think I could've said it better myself! Actually, I know I couldn't. Even though I knew all of the stats/facts you posted I don't think I could've posted it that well and with efficiency. That's a great post by a very knowledgeable fan and at the same you didn't get desrespectful. Thanks for coming to the defense of Spring Hill High School.
  6. Are you refering to Coach Buford Gladney? He didn't have heart issues, but he did have emergency surgery for a brain aneurysm in 1992 and was pretty much forced to retire after that. He did fully recover from the surgery and is living in Columbia now. He has been to many Spring Hill games in the past several seasons and loves to help out when he's asked... As far as "Papa" Wade, i'm not sure what he's up to. Pretty sure he lives in Spring Hill. Need to ask someone that knows him. Don't know if there's anyone on here that does though.
  7. Regardless of what happens from here on out I'd just like to say congratulations on your great prognostications of the quarterfinals of the the region. You said three out of the four 11-AA schools would advance when actually only one advanced and three of district 12 advanced. Looks like you have a few corrections so far on your "bracket". ... This was all another example of ignorance and "knowing it all" on coacht when you the poster has no CLUE about the opposing team/teams they're trying to talk about... Apparently this is one of the times you "forgot" more about high school athletics than I'll ever know. Again, congratulations. And, I'll try to remember this, as well as other examples, if I ever see you offering your expertise on here in the future.
  8. I could see how you could think that was what I was doing but I didn't go as far as to say who's going to beat who and actually fill out a bracket that I made on my own like "howdoitknow" did. He always likes to claim he knows all about other teams in football too. Seen it for years on here... Like I said. I haven't seen ANY of the teams from district 11-AA play this year and I'd assume this would be the case with "howditknow" and district 12-AA. So, what do any of us know?.. With all that being said. I think any of us have a good chance of being dissapointed after the region anyway because both of these districts we're discussing are fairly weak overall and the region that lines up with region 6 in the sub state is traditionally stacked and battle tested.
  9. Why do people do this when in all actuality they've probably seen one or ZERO of the teams from the other district play? This is assinine and could possibly make you look pretty dumb and arrogant considering your ignorance on district 12. I'm not going to sit here and say what I think COULD happen in the quarterfinals because I haven't seen a single team of the four from district 11 play. But with that being said, lets just say that I won't be shocked in the least if only one team from district 11 is left after the quarterfinals. But, I have no idea and I'm sure as heck not going to put up a bracket of my prognostications for the entire region tourney... And by the way. It's "Kedron" Johnson from Marshall County. Not "Kendren." And no, I'm not a Marshall County fan/alumni.
  10. Thank you for your coverage of Spring Hill in the district tournament. It was a huge, huge win for Spring Hill High School. Thanks, again.
  11. Despite what you may think about 12-AA, and it is hard to argue that it isn't weak, (especially at the bottom of the district), District 11-AA may be even weaker. I'll admit that I'm going on the history of past performances in the post-season. Who knows though?
  12. I was wondering the exact same thing in week 2 when Giles County AND Spring Hill went up and down the field against each other's defense for a big portion of the game. Spring Hill AS WELL as Giles County needs to worry about their first round and potential second round opponents FIRST. I don't believe anyone at Spring Hill is overlooking anybody and I'm suprised someone from Giles would overlook any team especially considering a possible second round match-up against David Lipscomb. No matter what type of season Lipscomb has had to this point doing that is borderline idiotic and very arrogant... Be careful what you wish for. I'd assume that David Lipscomb would be very tough if Giles County played them in the second round.
  13. Something tells me you're thinking about #9 Magwan Smith who was a two year starter at quarterback for Spring Hill and would've been a Senior in 2007 when you were a Senior. He was a fairly skinny guy, but he was very tough and had tremendous speed. I think he was an All-Region player that season on a Spring Hill team that went 1-9.
  14. See my post in the "Giles County vs. Lewisburg" thread. Not suprised by this response...
  15. Totally arrogant "Pist". I realize that the score of the Giles County Page game was only 16-8. That's definitely something to be proud of and it sounds like their most challenging game of the year. I'm not disputing that at all. But, everyone on here remembers the field conditions and weather accross the state that night and if you think that didn't help Page then you're dillusional. In fact it helped Spring Hill keep it close against Columbia on that same night... But, for anyone that was there on Sept. 4th in Pulaski knows what kind of game Spring Hill and Giles County was that night. (Just ask a Giles County fan on here) What an atmosphere! And the weather and field conditions were great for that game. And to say that if "Giles County was to lose a game in the regular season it was going to be against Page" then I respectfully (unlike you) disagree. The Giles County/Spring Hill game was was tied up at 21 at halftime. It was also 28-21 until about 8 minutes remaining in the game when Giles scored a touchdown and later scored on a long trick play with over two minutes remaining and Spring Hill with only one timeout. Now, don't get me wrong. Giles County adjusted well and won in the second half but it was one heck of a game for three and 1/3 quarters and also one of the most exciting games I've been to in years. I realize you weren't there so you wouldn't know and you shouldn't just like I wasn't at the Giles County/Page game. On the surface looking at the score, then yeah the Page/Giles game looked like the better game but to say what you said is another example of your arrogance you've shown on here all year. So, I'm not suprised. Typical...
  16. Ladies and gentlemen. Please welcome Mr. Obvious to the room.
  17. No, actually because of the "stupid new playoff system", as you call it, Spring Hill is 4A instead of 3A (Spring Hill had been 3A the last four seasons just like Mt. Pleasant was 1A previously.) So, if you want to use classification matchups then it was the old 1A vs. 3A. Or, in the new system. 2A vs. 4A. Either way, it's still a separation of two classifications!! Same thing! Not a three classification difference as you incorrectly pointed out... Just like someone on here mentioned earlier last week. All we heard from the Mt. Pleasant folks since Marco arrived on the scene was how bad they wanted to play Spring Hill (actually heard some wanted to play Central really bad and were running their mouth before the jamboree against Central) and how bad they would beat them. Well yeah. The old "Marco Pleasant Daileys" probably would've beaten Spring Hill at least three of the years he was there ('06 would've been interesting if they'd played). And nothing against riding the shoulders of a dominant player like Marco Dailey. No shame in that at all. All high schools have that once in a generation player at some point and more than likely they're going to run his legs off, if possible, while they're there. Spring Hill's had a few. Central has. C.A. has. Everyone lucks up and gets one of those special players every so often. But, I think that what happened while Marco was there was that many Mt. Pleasant fans (not all by any means) got very overconfident and thought they were ready to take on the state every year and didn't realize how much of that was simply because of #12. Now, did he help elevate the program even after he was gone? Yes. Absolutely. Mt. Pleasant is a good, solid program now and it shows on the field to this day. The excitement is there with the community. You can see it now. They'll win 6, 7, 8 ballgames most years, as long as they're in this district. Give or take a few games on either end. And let me say that it's probably been 8-9 years since Spring Hill could say the same thing about having a solid program, with the exception of 2006. That Spring Hill team was pretty solid... Now, all that being said. Take your medicine Mt. Pleasant. You've wanted to play for so long. You've always debated the outcome of the jamboree scores the past 5 years or so (granted some were valid). And now, you finally get the game and you get beat pretty solidly. I don't want to hear the clock b.s. either. (64in76's explanation was dead on about what the issue was with the clock.) Was it frustrating? heck yeah. But both teams had to adjust! Spring Hill simply wore them down in the second half. Did you not see how much slower some of the Mt. Pleasant players were crawling off the ground in second half? That's a combination of depth and conditioning and I thought was to be expected in this game. But, remember. Ya'll wanted this game really bad the last four or five years! I'll also say this though. Spring Hill does have twenty plus seniors and next year COULD be a different story. But, as for now Spring Hill has the bragging rights. So take your medicine and remember it COULD flip flop next year. But, like I've already said. This series is what so many Mt. Pleasant fans have wanted for a while and now that it's here and they got beat the classification excuse pops up! Just remember that the classification separations aren't any different now than they were five seasons ago! Also don't forget. If you want to use the classification difference then Spring Hill had nothing to gain except bragging rights. If Mt. Pleasant had won all we would've heard was how Spring Hill couldn't beat a 2A team! Mt. Pleasant is the one with nothing to lose, except bragging rights! (It's almost like the reverse situation with the Central/Spring Hill series. Central is supposed to win because of classifications and has nothing to gain except bragging rights.) So remember. You can CHOSE to use the classification excuse if you want but remember it's a two way street as far as that goes. Spring Hill has some disadvantages in the mental aspect of the series as well because leading up to the game they're "supposed to beat a smaller school". Right??
  18. Uh. Has anyone on here, so far, predicted Spring Hill to win this week and go "3-0". I don't think so... But, keep running that mouth anyway... And according my records (Haha), Spring Hill started 6-0 in 1998 before they lost to BGA in the 7th game. Went on to finish 8-2 that year en route to a region championship. Only regular season losses were to BGA and White House. I don't think either of the losses were region losses... (Oh look. They beat Giles County 25-6 that year! Yeah, yeah. Before all the Bobcats out there go off. I realize that Giles County was down for a long period of time back then.)
  19. The first two or three posts on this thread are not only entertaining, but very comical.
  20. Mr Football from Spring Hill son? No
  21. I believe they are scheduled to host Frankin County next Friday, July 31. After that I believe they're scheduled to play at Trousdale County the next Friday. Not completely sure about that though. I believe they also play at Glenncliff at some point. I'd have to get all the details on every scrimmage with the exception of Franklin County next Friday.
  22. Good lord... My point exactly. Thank you for providing another example of the point I was making because I highly doubt you have much of a clue of what you're talking about as far as Spring Hill goes. I didn't know I had to explain to you what I meant in my post... Again. Thanks... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. Well, Spring Hill and Alcoa both supposedly needed a tenth game badly for 2007 & '08. Spring Hill did have the return trip to Alcoa last year. It did obviously cost Spring Hill alot of money that came straight out of the football budget. They did choose to charter a bus though. Nice trip, but an ugly game. That was to be expected though. On a brighter note though Spring Hill was the only team to score on Alcoa at home during the regular season last year! I think it was a 40+ yard field goal. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Another example of Alcoa's dominance.
