  1. -hey, I bet you get a championship ring if Powell wins it all, right?
  2. don't know about Vandy, but she is the most legit D1 prospect that I've ever seen in East Tennessee. Not only talent wise, but her best games are when her team needs her the most. Seems to be very strong mentally. She's fun to watch, even for those that pull against Heritage. If all players in high school (any sport) had guts like her, it would be the ultimate competition every game on every field or court.
  3. -well said, Red81. It's one thing to defend and have pride in your school, but when it comes to bad-mouthing another team's player(s), it gets pretty ignorant. Most of the guys that run their jaw on here couldn't play for any of the region's better girls' basketball teams. When someone's "team" loses, it is always a fluke, the refs' fault, or just had a bad game. One team has to win, and one team has to lose-Bottom Line-I've never seen a ref miss a free-throw, lay-up, or decide whether the team should press, play a 2-3, etc.
  4. Interesting match-up. Powell's size and toughness, and Sevier County's quickness and heady-play. Give Coach Huskey and Coach Ward a couple of days to put together a defensive-game plan-and they are almost unbeatable. If Redding keeps up her deadly shooting, it will be a long night for Powell because you know what you are going to get from Uner and Broyhill. Sevier County in a close one: Sevier-52, Powell 46
  5. wheter they were praying or chanting, they refused to shake hands with Sevier County after the game, and wouldn't have at all if their coach hadn't chewed them out(he made them go to SC locker room to apologize). When SC wins, they act like they've been there, they do it with class-especially in a regular season game. You are jumping on the wrong group of fans. And to you people talking about having "off" nights is the reason they lost-isn't that part of basketball. The best and most experienced teams have their "A" game when more is on the line-just the same with Bearden boys.
  6. several colleges believe she can play. When she and Broyhill are on their game, they refuse to get beat. If she can't shoot with a hand in her face, she must be getting several wide-open lay-ups because half of her points are driving in the lane and shooting off balance with double and triple teams. I'm anxious to see her and Mcmahan go head to head-but I imagine each coach choosing to have their star guard another player-to stay out of foul trouble. The key in this game will be the role players for each team. Uner and Mcmahan will get their 20 points and 5 steals. The team that has someone to step up from the shadows is the team that will prevail and get launched into the region tourny with a dump-truck load of confidence. By the way, what in the world has Jeff Co. done lately besides underachieve? Only school in the county shouldn't have off years.

    SCHS

slightly better than average? they have lost around 5 or 6 games the last three years. Sevier County people still have a lot of pride in athletics. The football program has had some success (99 state champs/97 semis),but has had three straight 500 seasons which is getting turned around. It's no secret that baseball at Sevier County has been virtually non-existent for years-several reasons why, but they have a guy that if given time can build a respectful program. In my opinion, the 20 loss seasons are over for the boys basketball program. With the opening of Pigeon Forge High School 5 years ago, SCHS took a hit in the boys program that any sport wasn't really ready for. It seems to me that they have adjusted and have a talented freshman group of athletes for all sports to get back to getting used to winning. I also believe that baseball will be much improved. I would say that Book is the best player from what I've seen over the last couple of years, and he is still playing-just came out late due to basketball.
  8. -If anyone on here knows of anyone interested in picking up a few freshman games, please call Sevier County High School (865)453-5525. They have had 4 canceled due to weather, etc. They are willing to travel
  9. I respect the DB staff, in the biggest week of the season, didn't sale their soul for short-term goals-A great example why DB has a great program. You guys had a great year.
  10. I saw Jeff, Oak Ridge, and DB up close and personal this year. I've been coaching since 99, and outside of the 97 Riverdale team, Jeff and Oak Ridge has the most powerful running game that I've seen. DB has a strong passing game. I believe Oak Ridge has the Defense to go with their unstoppable running tandem to beat anybody in the state, 5A or 4A. They held Scooter Houston under 100 yards-how many people can say that? I've also seen Lincoln Co. up close and personal, and they might be on a mission to send Coach Thompson out on a good note-he deserves it. Although Lincoln is the favorite(my opinion), I believe Oak Ridge is just as good if not better, and DB plays hard with good athletes. If anything, 5A football is stronger than ever in East Tn. This year is the strongest that Region 1 has ever been. Obviously, there is DB and Jeff-both ranked all year, Science Hill-ranked top ten most of the year. Karns and Campbell had their best campaigns with Sevier playing stronger later in the season. I believe Jeff and SHIll is losing some quality seniors, but this region should be strong again this year. Region 2 has ORidge, Blount, Mcminn, and some other teams that were uncharacteristically down. I believe that 5A football is well represented in East Tennessee this year.
  11. From Cumberland: travel I-40 East(toward Asheville), and take the 407 Exit (Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, etc.) Take a right off of the exit onto Highway 66 Stay on 66 and it will run you into Sevierville. You'll stay straight through Sevierville into Pigeon Forge. Take a right onto Wears Valley Road which is at the 4 way intersection with "The Track" on the left, and "Ogle's Water Park" on the right. PFHS is less than one mile on this road. Advice: leave very early, traffic is horrible on Friday evenings. From exit 407 it will take you about 30 to 40 minutes without traffic.
  12. This game is great for the players on both teams. There is nothing shocking about anybody beating anybody. The only reason the word shock is used by outsiders is due to 3A and 5A classification. As everyone knows in Sevier Co., classification doesn't matter when county teams play. It's usually that way in all of the sports. Blount County is similar.
  13. you must be a Navy Seal to "hear" a silent fan. you just need to worry about the Patriots going 15-0. The sun came up on Sunday, and there is still a season to play, as long as that happens, we will work to improve, and we are improving. So the answer is to run to the outside? wow, why didn't the staff think of that? Call up Fulmer, and tell him to run outside and they will win. Sevier Co fans are loyal to their program, so no need to worry about their state of mind. It seems like we are quiet because we don't run around and guarantee wins and championships. If you have heard a Sevier County fan act bush league and talk smack, they are not in the real world and doesn't represent the core of SCHS people.
  14. Champions of Sevier County? who gives that award out? I didn't hear much trash talking the last 2 years. Nothing like a little league mentality. At Sevier County we play to compete in the region, get better and get ready for the playoffs, we don't play to be "county champions." We got beat by seymour, give credit to their staff and players, don't degrade it for them by claiming champions. Our guys look at each game to compete, they didn't look at the game like it was a state championship, just a non region game in which we didn't execute well in and didn't win. By the way, don't Seymour still have to play Pigeon Forge and GP? I believe that would be some nice bulletin board material for them.
  15. Parton didn't play. Seymour had 4 first downs, 2 of them were TD's, one of them came on 3rd and long at their own 10 yard line when the qb was getting sacked and fumbled the ball which happened to bounce directly into a bystander that in turn ran to the 50. Seymour won the game and deserved it because they took advantage of opportunities and Sev Co didn't. Sevier County isn't going to lay down for anyone. We just need to take advantage of opportunities.
  16. Sevier County played 6 sophmores and 1 freshman, and 1 returning starter on defense against seymour, and 3 returning starters on offense. Both Halls and Sevier are very young.
  17. stomped? sevier co. had the game in their hands until the middle of the 4th quarter, when Seymour's defense made some great plays. They took advantage of opportunities and won the game, but I wouldn't say stomped.
  18. The Halls staff is one of the best around. Two things are for certain when you face them is that 1)they never beat theirselves, and 2)they play real hard every play. I believe that their staff runs what their kids can execute. They live for close games, and with great special teams, you will win more than you lose.
  19. -Todd Helton-class of 92 Knox Central -Travis Cozart -class of 93 Lenoir City -Scotty Witt- class of 93 Clinton -Shane Kelly- class of 2000 Sevier Co -Eric Locke- Riverdale-98 -Joey Mathews- Sevier Co 98 -Spencer Riley-Jeff Co 95 -Bohanan- Oak Ridge -Shawn Summers-Oak Ridge No particular order
  20. I've not heard anyone overlooking them. I know Shrandt is a good athlete, but 4.41? There's not many college skill players running that at the D1 level. I heard he is more of a mid 4.5 guy, and that is still better than 95% of high school players. Does anyone know what the Greenback game looks like from a match up standpoint?
  21. I'm not trying to start anything, but the Tusculum and UT media guides when Locke was present claims that he was 19 years old before August 1 of his Senior year. If these two media guides are accurate, then he played his senior year after turning 19 before August. Someone help me with this, maybe the media guides were inaccurate. It's sad to hear that he is not using his talent.
  22. Sevier County beat Chattanooga Central. Both team's #1's played. It's hard to rate Cleveland's squad due to no team had time to prepare for the dreaded Wing-T. We just played base defense. I believe that Lincoln County and Baylor would be a close battle, but Lincoln's QB and WR give them the edge. Lavergne had some good looking athletes as well. Sevier County had to be the youngest team out there with 6 players that started on defense were either a sophmore or freshman, with 1 returning starter. We got whipped some this week, but we got better, and flew to the ball. Lincoln has a legit shot at the Boro'.
  23. That's a shock coming from a guy with a kitty for a symbol
  24. I know this isn't a Jeff Co. fan accusing Sev Co. of running off at the mouth? With the exception of a few morons that get on this site from Sev.Co, we have always tried to do the talking on the practice and game field. The realistic supporters of Sev.Co never predict outcomes of games, seasons, etc. So, I don't believe you can put us in the category of a team that talks smack. By the way, if you are not JPats, you must be his twin brother.
