Here is the word from Thompson's Station... Felts' two boys will be raised in Williamson County schools (unless a "dream job" opens up). That's why he didn't even apply for a metro job. Would he like to be a head coach one day...yes. Would he sacrifice his children's education and future by putting them in a metro school just so he can be called a head coach....NOPE. He likes where he's at...and he's busy trying to add another ring to his collection this Saturday. The staff at IHS is tight and work well together. What he has at Independence he'll never have in a metro school. Unless something miraculous happens I look for him to be at Independence for a while. The area is a "goldmine" of talent coming up (and moving in).

Felts is staying...has one of the best receiving corps he's ever coached, and likes his chances of adding another state championship ring to his resume'.

It's funny to me how there are so many great teams from east TN. When is the last time a team from that part of the state won a championship? Until you can play a balanced game you are not going to beat the teams from middle TN in the playoffs. Three yards and a cloud of dust isn't going to get it. DCA-until someone beats them in the playoffs, will win it all. Chris Wooden is a man playing among boys. The road to the state championship runs through him and that offensive line he runs behind.

JP II will be ok in a few years. Brothers has been in too many good programs and knows what it's going to take to get his team there. This school has big time facilities and that's going to get some athletes interested in their program.

You have to remember that a majority of the people on this sight are teenagers. The competion gets a little heated sometimes, but I'm not so sure that's always a bad thing. I love it when a person is passionate about their team. Ezell coaches are proud of their team for the way they have practiced the last two days. I know Coach Smith, Howell, Felts, and Stinson are winners, and they refuse to let their kids off the hook. Everyday is a chance to make yourself better. And our guys found out the other day that they have to work harder on the practice field if they want to be playing in December. Felts has been killing his DB's. He told me last night that his Seniors are finally learning how to be lead by example. In his seven years of coaching I've never seen him as upset, and humbled, as he was the other night. But as I said before, these guys don't know what the word quit means. Thanks to all those associated with the MBA program. We enjoyed the experience and atmosphere at your school! Good luck this season.

I am an Ezell guy and will give you my honest opinion of the scrimmage. Our secondary underestimated the talent of the MBA skill players, even after their position coach repeatedly warned them how dangerous they are. We have three Seniors starting in the secondary, with only one of them (Gettis) ever starting a high school football game. This, by no means, is an excuse. Those guys back there have been playing in our system for three years and know what they are supposed to be doing. The other day was a wake-up call for them. If there was ever a "good ole' fashion butt whoopin", the scrimmage on Tuesday was it. Physically, I think Ezell's secondary can play with anyone. Mentally, they have a lot of growing up to do! And if I know their position coach like I think I know him, beleive me when I tell you that he was extremely embarrased the other day. I can assure you of this much, it won't happen again. MBA plays with tons of class and plays hard to the whistle-on every play. Our guys can learn a lot from team of that caliber and I think that we came away with some good things from Tuesdays scrimmage. Do we have some things to work on, of course we do. Our coaching staff is a good one from top to bottom and are not going to cut their players any slack. They will get things worked out.

If my memory is correct the last "great" linemen from Cloudland were bigger than 290lbs and their tongues were mopping up the turf @ MTSU before the 1st quarter was over with. Unless these boys can run all day long and chase down the speed that the top tier 1A teams have it's not going to matter how big they are.

We actually started using the spread offense in 2000, JP Shelly's junior year. Reading some of these threads talking about the QB making bad reads in this style of offense makes me remember this particular year. We went to Nashville Christian and got our butts handed to us. JP threw six interceptions. Now that was a nightmare!! But he was learning in the process and went on to become a great high school QB. In my years of coaching high school athletes I have never seen a better field general. Football is about toughness, mental as well as physical, and mis-matches. Our kids run this offense everyday all year long and can run all day. You can not prepare for this style of offense in one week of practice. It's down to the elite 8 with some great match ups this Friday. The games in the west part of the bracket will determine the eventual state champion, with all four teams having a shot to win. Being a realist, I am going to say that the Ezell/CPA game will more than likely come down to who has the ball last, especially if the field conditions are anything like last Friday.

Hey Blue Boy, We heard all this crap last year about how region 6 plays the three yards and a cloud of dust and how Ezell, CPA, etc. couldn't handle it. Well guess what happened. The only dust that was kicked up was when the speed guys were flying past those good ol' country boys on there way to the endzone.

1999? Who cares, that was three years ago! Listen, we (Ezell) has heard all this nonsense before. Last year come playoff time all we heard and read was that Ezell couldn't stop the smashmouth teams like Cascade, Moore County, etc. That we haven't seen the tough "three yards and a cloud of dust" teams. All of this is getting a little ridiculous. Here's the cold hard facts: 1. Unless you play the same type of offense that we do there is no way to prepare for it in one week. Your going to have to put about 28 points on the board to have a chance to beat us. 2. Run the ball 60 times a game and your going to lose! Just as Cascade and Jo Byrns. We'll let you get your 400 yards rushing between the 20's but when its time to play inside the red zone your not going to score. 3. Keep underestimating our team and tell us were not as good as last year. We love that stuff. Our kids thrive on it and jump at the chance to put a whoopin' on teams that don't respect what we've built. The only way that Ezell will lose this year is if they beat themselves and the other team plays their best game. Our kids are winners! They have had their backs to the wall and know how to respond. I've never seen a group of young men and coaches who hate to lose more than these guys. So for all of you all reading this who hope that we will "drop the ball", we won't. We will be in the hunt come playoff time and our kids will be as hungry as ever.

Pujo, Cujo, whatever.Classless? Where have I heard that before? Call me what you want to. Just call me a winner. Speaking of wood shed, has Cloudland got out from behind that wood shed that Ezell took them to last year?

C'mon Pujo. Do you really believe that? I can name 4 teams in region 5-1A that would contend for your region championship every year. I have been reading these post from you and every other Cloudland fan day after day biting my tongue. When are you guys going to realize that it doesn't matter how many yards you run for, or how big your offensive line is, you can't beat a team that throws the ball effectively and has a good defense. This is because when you get down you can't score fast enough. I get so tired of hearing all these "smash mouth" football teams getting on this board talking about their 400 yards rushing on 60 carries and only scoring three or four TD's. Who cares? The only thing that matters is scoring points, and alot of them. When your a one man show like Cloudland is its so easy to defend them. Put eight or nine guys in the box and dare the QB to throw it. When you can spread the field with six or seven guys that can make plays running or throwing come talk to me. That's why Ezell put it on Cloudland last year in the championship game. Cloudland's defense looked like a Chinese fire drill. Those young men just had no idea where the ball was going, unlike Ezell's defense. They knew on almost every play who was going to be RUNNING the ball. Meet us back in M'Boro this year, because we will be there, and we'll see if ya'll learned anything from last year.

A player can have ten personal fouls called against him in a game (if his coach let's him stay in the game that long). The penalty that will get a player ejected is unsportsman like conduct. Two of those will get you tossed.

Monster's statement IS contradicting. Loretto does play dirty football. And there will be more than one police escort for Ezell's football team.

Only the coaching staff knows. Nothing is wrong with Antoine and nothing is going on. He will be ready to play. He won't be starting in the Collinwood scrimmage, though. Coach Smith hasn't decided if he is even going to dress or not. I look to him being back by Friday at the Davidson Academy scrimmage.
