  1. If Emery has improved over his play last year, he will be one of the top 3 linebackers in 2A this year.
  2. I gotta say, it sounds like Grace may be getting too big for their britches. I understand how good it feels when you're part of a losing program, and that begins to turn to around but guys, the more talking you do here, the more of a bullseye you're going to have on your back when you go to the country to play these boys who eat, sleep and breathe football. Take the advice of a former 1A private school player, its alot easier to take down a lion if he doesn't know you're coming.
  3. Was Maryville really the first Nike sponsored team? I know they got their uniforms this year, but i remember a few years back when Montgomery Bell Academy got their Nike uniforms. I was pretty sure they were the first sponsored team.
  4. Oh yeah? After reading this whole thing over again, I sure hope youre not referring to me as the "pompous" CAK poster? The only one who really mentioned God was pujo and I know hes not from CAK, so... enlighten us Sheila, please.
  5. Haha i think id have to have to agree. Good to see that these old message boards are still good for reminiscing. That is a night that will always be high up on my list of best nights ever. Hope everything is going well for you pujo.
  6. Good Luck to Gary Kreis in his future. My former coach always had a lot of respect for Coach Kreis and i like to think that the feeling was mutual. Coalfield was always one of the more classy teams we played and id say that stemmed from their head coach.
  7. does anyone know how ETSU will be giving out their scholarships for the first season? Are they going to all they players they've brought in for the club team the last couple years? All incoming freshmen? Im very curious to know how a team gets off the ground floor.
  8. The question is not how far will each team go in their class, its whos the best. Having absolutely no affiliation with anything Roane County, I think Rockwood will be the best team. If im wrong, then ill admit it but i dont think im wrong.
  9. Saw this too. I'm very proud of Keenan. Id say that its pretty safe to say hes received the first D1 offer in CAK's short football program's history. Since Air Force runs the Wing-T i believe it is, do they need fullbacks? I guess I'm just not very familiar with the Wing-T but isn't it two wing backs and a tailback? Or are the wing backs the tailbacks and the tailback is the fullback. Whatever the case, I'm very curious to see who else offers and whether or not Kolinsky, who is a stud left handed pitcher also, will choose baseball over football.
  10. Id guess Rockwood. You can cross Kingston and Oliver Springs off. Harriman and Midway are just small. Im gonna go with Rockwood.
  11. DII-A. Theres another Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN. This ones a boarding school though.
  12. No for real. Im a former player of Strickland and im just curious of how he is doing. Im not here to say which Morgan County team is going to beat the others, which for my money, is a moot point. Id just like to get an update on how Strickland is doing.
  13. Ever heard the phrase, "if you've got it, flaunt it"?
  14. Wow, this certainly is an interesting breakdown for both teams. Thanks Uniden.
  15. Congratulations coach. I didnt know that you were so close to this accomplishment. This is a very public forum for something that I take with such personal pride but I want you to know that the few times that you have allowed me to represent your program have been some of my favorite moments as far as sports are concerned. Thank you very much coach and I cant wait for camps/HHI.
  16. Gaw, battle ball. The second best game in the history of P.E. time fillers. I really am disappointed to hear that you didnt take advantage of the game of all games, Super Extreme Destructo Crazy Ball. That would've really puzzled the other coaches.
  17. Good for Brandon. I was very disappointed originally when I heard he was not going to be playing. Not because I wanted so desperately for my alma mater to win another title but because I knew that one day he would have regretted not playing his senior year with the guys he has grown up. I think this is excellent for all involved. High school sports is about having fun, not being as cutthroat as you possibly can to a bunch of 14-18 year olds, whether you believe they are boys or young men.
  18. Sounds like somebody got beat by Grace on their way to practicing their baseball swing.... I can all but promise you that if a kid is going to go to a private school for sports in Knoxville, its going to be Webb, Catholic or CAK first, Grace second. I would say that these kids probably just did things a little bit better than everyone else. As far as I know, all you need to have to get better at basketball is a ball and a hoop. I could be wrong. Id guess that every school in TN playing basketball has those two things somewhere at their disposal. Grace was just one of the 8 best at doing so. Congratulations Grace on your success. As a former private school kid who got the same treatment as we beat a bunch of public schools en route to some pretty good athletic teams, just recognize that everyone that you beat that plays for a public school is going to cry foul and say you need to be in a different division. Sad thing is, most of the time at least, its the old men and the "fence walkers" just trying to re-live their glory days through an online message board. Just keep doing your thing and represent the last remaining faction of private schools left in 1A. Everyone should have known it was just a matter of time as the young kids at Grace were taking their whippings like men that eventually they would be juniors and seniors giving them out. Good luck at state Rams and I, as I am sure all the other private schools around here do to, would love to see you bring a 1A state title to Knoxville.
  19. One of my good buddies played for Coach Eldridge at Anderson County. It always seems like he is able to put out good teams and he has been very successful at Maryville thus far.
  20. Well, as you know, I hope to be a coach one day. I think you and I both know I will never run sprints with my players. Maybe thats just cause i've been a coach in my head for a long time but thats besides the point.
  21. good luck with your miles and miles of heart against alcoa's fastest and strongest.
  22. I have no association with Alcoa but have seen numerous games over the past few years and must say that Randall Cobb is not only a better quarterback than Joei Fiegler but if both quarterbacks are the same age, Joei Fiegler is the starting clipboard holder. My grandmother, bad back and all, couldve quarterbacked Fiegler's teams to a state championship. Lets say, for example, Randall Cobb had the opportunity to throw to Brandon Warren and Kyrus Lanxter and have the privilege of handing the ball off to Dustin Lindsey and Chris Shiverdecker all in the same season. Does he not also have top 10 stats in every major passing category? Id say so. With all due respect to Troy Hodge and Sam Thompson, Cobb doesnt have nearly the arsenal of weapons that Fiegler had. If memory serves correctly, Fiegler threw 3 passes. Bubble screen, slant, fly. I am pretty sure Cobb could do that. In my opinion, Cobb is 1B on best pure athletes to come from Alcoa with Brandon Warren being 1A. Quarterbacking, nobody has done a better job than Randall Cobb. Taking your posts into consideration, smarterstpersonalive, I am forced to believe nothing less than you are, in fact, Joei Fiegler's mother. Happy Thanksgiving Mrs. Fiegler.
  23. Ever heard of Buster Douglas, kid?
  24. Obviously, young Mr. Sewell, the poster was making a comment about making the team one dimensional and not taking a shot at Randall Cobb.
