Don't forget the 37-0 rout by BA.
-
BA-MBA is clearly the most intense rivalry in the state, they often meet twice a year, once at the end of the regular season, and in the playoffs, last year's regular season game was one of the most memorable in TN high school history. In terms of quality of teams and intensity in the games, BA-MBA is in a class of it's own.

Speaking of lost Vols players, what is CJ Leak doing these days? First the talk was of him playing opposite his brother at safety, and than I heard he was getting work at TE, I hope the best for him- in all the excitement of the freshmen people forget that CJ is in his 6th year and still doing anything to find the playing field, I admire his dedication.

Actually, BA did lose by 14-7 to Baylor in 1981, but that is their only loss. This should be an intriguing matchup of two teams with a lot of potential and talent, but neither have played up to their ability. The loser is almost guarenteed the 6 seed in the playoffs, while the winner still has a shot at a home game. I see a hard fought, 4 quarter game with the team making the fewest mistakes winning.

What about the drop kick? I think it's legal in the NFL but I'm not sure about High School, a lot of guys claim they're good at it, but I've never seen it done.
-
The word that comes to mind when I saw MUS play is Balance. When they played BA they were able to run and throw with equal success. However, I think the running game can be stopped a lot easier than the passing game, BA had several series where they dominated the run, only to be done in by long 3rd down conversions. MUS did break a 70 yard run- but it was mainly due to poor BA tackling, if MBA plays fundamentally sound football I see them pulling this one out, 35-24.

Well while we sit here and speculate and rant and spread rumors, all Coach Flatt did tonight was rout Lone Oat and become the all time winningest coach in TN high school history. Congrats Coach Flatt.
-
What a shocker.......what do you have to say about this Aintskeerd?
-
Here's what everybody forgets about Flatt.....BA is about the size of a 1A school. There are approximatly 200 boys at BA and Flatt is still going to be the all-time winningest coach in state history. I would guess only a handful of times has BA ever taken on a school with less boys in the high school than themselves. I know some of you will say this is a result of recruiting.......and your right, good players watched and heard about BA growing up and that attracted them to the school. They were essentially recruited by BA's past success, which I don't think TSSAA has made a rule against. I know a lot of you guys don't like him, and I understand some of your points about BA recently, however, very few people know high school football like he does- and remember there is more to being a coach than just wins and losses, he also is a great teacher and leader to his players- I think he should be commended for what he has done and is doing, and don't count BA out yet- crazier things have happened.
-
BA definitly has been underachieving, however all of their games could have gone BA's way if a couple plays or calls go BA's way. I think with the return of senior captain Parker Cason soon and if BA just can improve some they will find a way to start winning these games and will have a chance to make a run in the playoffs, similar to the MBA 2002 team.

Any thoughts on the eagles trip to memphis to take on MUS this week?
-
It's back!!! I thought this had been sucked into a CoachT black hole, Obviously the biggest surprise this year has been losing the first two region games. Another was losing Parker for the year supposedly and finding out he'll return. If B.A. Always is still around I will have to give him credit and say he was correct about Griffin being the better QB for the team. Brad did a fine job but the team has played much better with Griffin at QB, if Tyler plays a good game vs. MUS than I think he will solidify himself as the starter for the rest of the year. Obviously things haven't gone as well as BA would've hoped but there is still plenty of time to make up for it, it is a wide open 6-team race for the title. MBA has emerged as the favorite but BA, CBHS, McCallie, Baylor and MUS certainly aren't out of it.

1. You show up to a road game and see a white flag on the field instead of the American flag.
-
Braswell did not play but his backup- i think #44 was very effective at times. I think if you threw Braswell into the game and Baylor hung onto the ball a little better this game could have come down to the wire. I think DII AAA is wide open this year, I think 6/7 teams have at least a chance at the championship.
-
Amazing, high school football is an amazing thing, how one team can beat two of the better teams in the state and than get run over by one most consider to not even be close to the caliber of a BA or Germantown- that's why you have to show up every night.
-
The game will still be played despite the bad weather right?
-
This is great news, Parker is BA's senior captain linebacker and one of the best players on the team- he was presumed lost for the season, it was reported on this site and The Tennessean that his season was over....but we just received news he will be back soon. He will give the team a huge boost for the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs.
-
As most of you probably know only four of the games played each year within the conference count towards playoff rankings- I was wondering if anybody knows what those games are for each team. I can contribute BA's 4 ( CBHS, Baylor, Father Ryan, and McCallie ). Anybody else know their teams? Also what do you guys think of this system? I personnally don't like it because there is a lot of luck involved in which games count.
-
What about Christian Brothers? They killed Whitehaven who beat Germantown and than turned around and knocked off BA, if they beat Germantown next week, which I think they will, I think they should be considered at least a top 2 or 3 team in the whole state.
-
CBHS was very impressive- they really shut down BA's offense in the 2nd half and made big offensive plays when they needed to. BA clearly is a very good team, but must work on their coverage teams and start moving the ball a little better in order to win state. I bet CBHS takes out Germantown next week and I have a feeling we'll see CBHS and BA again...possibly @ Vanderbilt.
-
I am not a fan of either team but......Ravenwood a has been??? This is their first year as a full varsity squad- that comment makes no since.
-
Due to the odd format in DII AAA where only four region games count towards playoff seeding ( for BA this year it is CBHS, McCallie, Father Ryan, and Baylor ) this is one of the biggest games of the year for BA. CBHS no doubt wants revenge for their playoff loss to BA last year and BA still remembers what happened in the regular season matchup last year. Both teams have played pretty well to start the season so, who do you guys think will take this DII AAA battle?
-
AintSkeerd is not Griggs, I used to think so also but trust me it's not him. Just a general update on some topics we've talked about a lot over the summer: Philip Masters has taken over the extra point/short-midrange field goal duties, he was 6/6 on xp's vs. Oakland. Baker is doing the punting and kickoffs. Brad is taking almost all the snaps at QB and is doing pretty well. Parker is lost for the season with an acl, and Nick Forte is out indefinitly with mono-pray for a speedy recovery for him. The four games that count in the region standing for BA this year are Christian Brothers, McCallie, Baylor and Father Ryan - so this weeks game vs. CBHS is huge in terms of playoff positioning. Also.......there is a JV game vs. Beech this Monday @ BA at 6pm.
-
I was wondering the same thing as itzme....I can never remember seeing offensive PI being penalized with a loss of down, I agree with the call just not the rule, and yes we did fumble one time, I was wrong, but don't worry Wes all of our regular ball carriers did a great job hanging onto the ball. Brad also looked like Tyler a couple times in the pocket escaping pressure, he did a great job eluding the rush- also I noticed Tyler didn't play QB much if any- I think that shows our confidence in Brad.
-
That is accurate, Tyree, Ryan, and Brad all took some solid hits where they could have fumbled but held on..........if we would have fumbled 4 or 5 times like last week this could have been a close game. Also you're right itzme, Jason was the only one to start both ways but the whole line stepped it up in Nick's absence. I think the lines are playing above expectations, the o-line keeps opening up those little gaps which is more than enough for our backs to bust through and pick up big yards.
