    A/AA

FRA will be better...they only lose 1 senior,
  2. MBA and FRA was already postponed...FRA is on interim, so many students are out of town, and I heard MBA had a conflict....it will probably be rescheduled....
  3. Ken McDonald.....Great Coach, Super Person...gets the most out of a small school, not afraid to take his kids against anyone, never allows his team to "humiliate" a lesser opponent, keeps his kids playing a clean game. Coaches the boys and girls and they all give him everything they can because of the person and coach he is.... no doubt there are some great coaches in the state....I wouldn't trade Coach Mac for anyone and neither would my son or daughter (both players for him).
  4. your opinion...I recall several in the first half that could have moved the score in FRA's favor ...4-2 FRA's favor at half could have easily happened. Doesn't mean FRA would have won, but they had a great opportunity to be up at half...guess it depends upon the end you were sitting on???!!!
  5. Some of that dancing was with BGA's starters versus FRA's Bench. I think it was 2-1 at half time, BGA benefited from an own goal, etc. BGA has a very talented team however and won the game convincingly. (it's always nice to tell the whole story)
  6. you can't force every parent to involve....but can you increase it? I think so...by giving them an opportunity to effectively implement some changes. Every private school parent is not involved either...other than writing the check. But can you increase involvement? I think there are a lot of ways to improve involvement ....and allowing a school voucher system, merit based pay....I'm sure there are many things that could improve .....dumping the unions and dropping tenure might be improvements.
  7. Thanks 7, but the defender I think you refer too seemed pretty unaffected, other than she is genuinely happy for her teammates...each and all. She just likes to play. I'm sure that the Tennessean has a lot to cover trying to watch the abundant talent levels we are blessed with in the midstate. Too bad they can't afford to devote more time, people, and coverage to a growing sport .
  8. As much movement as you see in the coaching in soccer in college....I would be vary wary of an early commitment ??!!
  9. Playing travel three years back does not necessarily make them travel players....anymore than playing Y soccer makes someone a "travel player"....I think my math is pretty good...perhaps players played some travel in the past....I do not consider someoen who gave it up a 'travel starter".....generally the complaint from the publics is that these travel players benefit from year round soccer. This is not the case in the entire starting bunch...although I think we see a tend in that direction for most of the top ranked teams....and not just in soccer. My guess is that in 5 years 90% of the starters in the final four teams in soccer in each state division will have "travel experience" as you put it...part of a trend across the sport scene. Indiana still limits travel participation from one high school...I think ist 5 players, and yes it is a bad rule. And yes Coach Mac does an excellent job....I hope he contiues to grace FRA with his excellent coaching ability for another decade..... I think most any parent associated with FRa would probably speak highly of the FRa coach....if that is recruiting, so be it.....I'm sure that the Ravenwood parents are speaking pretty highly of their football coach right now....is that "recruiting" also????
  10. I do not know if I agree with that statement. The Harpeth Futbol Club had players that went and are attending several schools (public and private).
  11. Yes Congratulations to MBA/ MUS/BA/ETC....I still think its hard to get revved up about a "State Championship of 8 schools"....I'd love to see the biggest and the best play each other. I can't tell you how many tiimes I've heard the kids from schools such as MBA or Riverdale say they'd love a shot at the other...and this was said "after they won their championship"....they still want to play them, but the powers that be won't let it happen......I think the players feel a little hollow as well. They're happy they won, excited, but the little voice inside is saying "I think we could have beaten those guys......or girls!"
  12. Great Players....I'm not sure that I would agree that only AAA had players left out. A/AA has some pretty good talent. Congratulations to the winners and a salute to the rest of your list!!!!
  13. What if.....you let everyone play every one. You would be foolish to just play "bunnies" during the regular season because it won't prep you for the playoffs. Cut the regular season to 8 games if you need to have a larger playoff group. You have a playoff that segregates public and private into publics and privates (3 classes - A/AA/AAA)..then you can have a State Charity Bowl with the 3 classes playing each other public versus private one one day in the Boro???? Shoot if it makes everyone happy you could declare 6 state champions and the Boro Bowl would just be "for Charity"???
  14. They do turn out good Student/Athletes (as do many schools - public and private)...but a "State Championships" determined by 8 teams is a little hollow.
  15. The "shaft" would be the multiplier!....It's not that hard to figure out.
  16. hey, FRA didn't start the post...just defended themselves....and if you take the multiplier that the publics forced down everyone's throat...you would have undoubtedly seen a better performance in Fball and Bball...seems like they have a state championship in both at one time??? I think u may have a problem with your complete understanding...?????
  17. ok so exactly what is right about forcing schools to play opponents twice there size? what inherent advantage does the smaller school have? Particularly in Football because that seems to be what the multiplier is about?
  18. Two points.... I don't think any of the high school sports requitre the volume of players and depth to compete that Football does. That is why the multiplier has a greater effect on the sport. Also you do not have the "select" team approach for football that you see in basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. so it is hard to assimilate a large group of "studs" that can carry a team. "Select/travel" players can help a team as seen in several of othe spring sports. I'm tired of hearing the whining from some of the "public" supporters about the "money" in the private schools. Look we pay the same taxes (often more) than most. We sacrifice our "money" in many cases simply because we want our kids to go to a school where they can pray before a game, etc. We provide money to build your public facilities....then pay again to build our private facilities that we share equally with publics on game days...our teachers and coaches usually make less oney that their public counterparts......God bless them for it.....we are carrying our weight and then some! Drop the money whine!
  19. As to the original question...NO...no one's really happy with the multiplier and I doubt that it would hold up to a challenge in court. The reality is the publics are scared of the privates and want them out and although it will be more expensive (for everyone) put kids to traveling much more to faraway games (in both public and private), and will only serve to further alienate the kids....we are simply avoiding the inevietable split.....it will eventually come and we will have to see how that goes.... "handpicked teams"....I can only assume you are referring to Division II.....if not you could not be more wrong.... The multiplier is an unethical and improper descrimination in a desperate grab to try to manage a false result. If 1.8 didn't do it the publics will cry for 2.8, then 3.8...whatever it takes.
  20. Not sure when it is to be announced or if it has been pulled together yet...but I bet it is not all that hard to figure out. Take last year's ALL-State...subtract the seniors...adjust any players listed under the wrong year....delete one(no idea who, I just figure 1 gets bumped), go thru the paper and pull the top scorers from the top 20 teams and replace most of the seniors with these where they are not already on the team...add two midfielders from a AAA team from Williamson county and replace the goalie if necessary...and I bet you have 95% of the soon to be released ALL-state team....in other words there is probably not a lot of real thought in it....if you score and get your name in the paper that is a large part of the formula....not complaining just citing the history....we'll see when it comes out!
  21. Can't speak for teams I didn't see, but I think that Centennial probably should top CCS ...but like you said...mostly for fun and speculation! In fact, I would have enjoyed watching CCS and Centennial go at it!
  22. I'm thinking more about the field that the ladies play on and less about the stadium where we put our rear end! I never sit down anyway so the stands are secondary. Actually the girls like taking a bit of a trip..makes the experience a little more special so going more than 30 minutes form Nashville for them (at least) is a positive! AS for the KOOLAID OK, but don't drink and drive..that stuff must be way strong!!!!
  23. We're talking about Murfreesboro, Tennessee?????? I think you drank the koolaid at the M'boro Chamber of Commerce! Actually there is nothing really wrong with the field at CCS, except that it is at CCS...I don't think A/AA should play there, but AAA or DII could. A/AA could play at Baylor, etc.
  24. Can we have our tax money back to do so???? Dividing sport will go to further divide the community and students....the privates are not the ones advocating this...we are being run out...so remember this when you see the overall effect.
  25. I wasn't arguing with you...I was taking issue with his statement (among others) that he led from start to finish....you said that I was wrong....in any case I enjoyed the event...and I have a lot of respect for the runners and particularly FRA. I would have hoped for any victor to show some humility. As someone who has run distance casually since college from times when I ran 0 to the times when I average 30 miles a week over the last 25 years (many 1000 mile years)...I have a lot of respect for you guys knocking down those times
