Coach Ward and his staff of McDowell, Blow, Knott, and Wyatt are a tremendous coaching team and are all family men. They are good for Camden and Tennessee high school football. If Coach Ward gets coach of the year, we'll have to rent a bus just to take all the coaches' children to the ceremony.

Coaches always make better parents than parents do coaches. Keep up the good work coach.

Welcome back Catfishhunter Barkley! I don't always agree with you, but you have some great posts. I have a neutral view of the Fairview-Cheatham Co. game and I think it will be Cheatham Co. in a barnburner! The winner will probably host McKenzie and the loser will probably host Decatur Co. Who is going to be the Region 5 3rd and 4th place teams? Lewis 3rd and Loretta 4th? Or will Richland get 4th?

Wrong. Two years ago he was a sensational freshman running back playing for Coach Fisher's final team at CHS.

I think Riverside will win and get the #3 spot they deserve, and will go to Fairview for Round One. However, you never can count out those scrappy Cards. They tend to get tough this time of the year.

Dresden gets my vote for best 2A team in West TN with a losing record. Riverside is now 2nd. If either of them make the playoffs, they could pull off some huge upsets.

If Swafford was still there, SD wins this one. A good Swaffence was SD's best defense.

2A From the West: Camden or Westview From the Middle: Lipscomb or Cheatham From the East: Alcoa or Tyner

I would really like to see Riverside win but I think they'll lose this one in a close one. (1-3 points)

It might be true, but we are hoping to stay in West TN because of the natural rivalries. They did this to us in the early 80s and we faired quite well, but besides Waverly, we don't have any big rivalries across the "big pond." If we are forced to play in Middle TN, and can keep Huntingdon, McKenzie, Riverside and Bruceton on our schedule, everything will be fine. But if any of these four cannot be on our schedule, for any reason, it will hurt us.

Don't pick on SCHS and the Camden fans will not pick on you.

Region 6AA is stronger than 5AA or 7AA. You'll see when the playoffs get here how strong 6 is. The 4th place team in R6 can go to any of the R5 schools and go toe to toe. Region 7 is about the same as usual. Let's talk about this some more in about three weeks.

If the Bruceton drops us from their schedule, let's start a spring game with them, where it is alternated between towns, both teams wear game uniforms, bring the cheerleaders, fire up the bands, open the concession stands, and raise money for the schools. (What I'm saying is we need more football in the spring, to keep us going until the fall.)

Yea, I see what you mean. And you are right about Dresden having a slow finish last year. What I meant was that Huntingdon and Milan are not each going 10-0, or 9-1 every year any more with an average score of 66-7 over most of the teams in their regions. Other teams are making moves to better compete with two of West Tennessee's finest programs.

Even though we West Tennesseans pick-on Region 5 AA about being weak, they are really not. Year in and out, they have had more parity than regions 6 and 7 AA and they have been coming into the playoffs with worse records. In region 7, it's not just Milan and Westview anymore. Look what Dresden did last year. In region 6, Camden has moved up on Huntingdon and McKenzie. I might be wrong, but I don't see parity hurting either region 6 or 7 in the playoffs. You might have a 7-3 team travel to Memphis for the playoffs, but it will be one tough 7-3 team. Those days of one team dominating each region are over.

How come Huntingdon didn't "run it up" on Riverside? Did the Panthers play them a good game? Congrats on another region championship for the great 6-2 Huntingdon Mustangs.
