  1. "No depth, no coaching, no players", huh? Looks like you were a little off on this one....After watching that game today, they're apparently doing something right. They definitely took care of Friendship.
  2. 30 - 21 Milan around 5 minutes left
  3. -DCA was without their 1st and 2nd string QB. (fresman 3rd stringer played the scrimmage) Also, without their starting tailback, 2 of the top 3 receivers, a starting corner and a starting safety, and a d-lineman and another safety that could be starting when the season rolls around. -This is just some info. I'm not trying to take anything away from Smith Co. They played well and should have a good team this fall.
  4. Wilson - Junior Hunt - Senior Wilson had attitude problems and alway has. That's been evident to everybody. Heard he just got tired of everything. Not tough enough to stick it out if you ask me. Word on Quinn Hunt is that he didn't show up for a team something on tuesday night, and then not at school the day of the game. Never tried to call anyone or anything. And when they ran him down when he wasn't at school, he said he was sick and had to get a shot. -You know what, big deal. Whatever happened to some kids with some heart. How about doing something for your fellow teammates. That's just a pansie with a quitters attitude who will not ever do anything in life unless he changes that attitude/mindset. That kind of stuff drives me crazy. I hate it, but so many kids just aren't tough anymore, not all of them...but alot of them can't take it.
  5. Milan got a big district victory tonight over Westview. The dogs played hard and got a much needed win. Good job guys!
  6. Look, if something really bad happened, that's one thing. But don't criticize by saying stuff like "one and done." There are plenty of districts that and regions where they would have better results. Unfortunately, they play in the toughest in the state. I'm not from Lexington, but I respect what he has done with the porgram. He brought excitement to a dead program that has great history. He has done some great things to earn alot of respect, and I really hate to see it get tarnished.
  7. Yeah, please nobody get on here and post rumors. I just wondered if there was anything, because the Jackson Sun usually won't update things at night.
  8. I couldn't believe it myself. He's a stand-up guy who gets alot of well earned and deserved respect. I sure hope it is something small that's getting blown out of proportion. I would hate to see something bad happen.
  9. The Jackson Sun is reporting that Tim Gardner has been suspended, but no other comments. Anyone have any info??? Here's the article from The Jackson Sun's web page: Gardner suspended from coaching position at Lexington High School By JOSHUA PARROTT jparrott@jacksonsun.com Henderson County interim superintendent Teresa McDaniel told The Jackson Sun on Thursday that Lexington High School head boys basketball coach Tim Gardner has been suspended indefinitely pending an ongoing investigation. “I have no other comment,” McDaniel said. An unidentified man answered a call made to Gardner’s cell phone Thursday afternoon. After asking who was calling, the man said “I’m sorry” before the call was disconnected. Gardner did not immediately return messages left on his home phone and cell phone Thursday afternoon. Messages left for Lexington High School principal Chuck Patton were not immediately returned Thursday afternoon. Lexington is 12-9 overall and 4-3 in District 12-AA play after beating Chester County, 76-61, on Tuesday. The Tigers are fourth in the district standings entering tonight road game against Bolivar.
  10. sls is just probably a mad parent from the past and likes to downplay the dogs. But when Coach Sheppard gets his team playing and already wins more games than many people thought they would all year, he doesn't get on here and give credit where credit is due.
  11. Word has it that the 6'6" Mason kid was in trouble with drugs (apparently they cuffed him and took him out of the classroom) but they let him withdraw instead of being kicked out so he could get back in school the next year. And it's been said that he does live near McGavock around Hermitage/Donelson. Who knows though? As for the team, they have so me flat out basketball players, that's all there is to it. And Maddux is doing a good job with that bunch.
  12. Some of those teams have lost some guys, and there not as good as usual. But you don't compare with Liberty or even Haywood. And you'll probably find that out real soon.
  13. Obion takes this one. I think it was 55 - 46. Obion seemed to have it the whole game and shot it really well. Milan took a lead at 27-26, but that was about it. It sounded like Poston for Milan played really well, but that's to be expected.
  14. Heard this one was fairly close with about 5 minutes left in the game. Anybody have the score/details?
  15. Seen'em on film. Goodpasture's good, and I mean real good. Fast, athletic, smart, experienced, and they win games in the trenches. Wing-T with a solid lone-setback and 2 very quick wing-backs. QB is just smart, athletic, nothing flashy, but gets the job done like a true leader. Defense does well sticking to assignments, but they can fly to the ball as well. They hold a CPA team 7 points. Same CPA team who put up 50 on Camden. This is probably best team that Milan's played since Huntingdon a few years ago and Portland in '99-'00. Pulling for the dawgs, but they'll have their hands full in this one.
  16. Don't be so sure about Camden winning. the stats show that DCA threw for 250-plus against Camden and CPA runs the spread offense with a very talented 6'2" 215 lb. QB
  17. And you know what...How can you care so much for a school and a football program, and not care for the basketball program.. You talk up the football so much on here...(too much, grow up and get a life), but you get on here and bash the basketball program. Support the school, not just parts of it. You say don't be surprised if younger ones do the same...you're just helping that effect. Such a fair-weathered fan, step-up and support no matter what's going on. Don't help to keep running it in the ground. But then again, you sit on here and type stuff at all hours of the day and night. Congratulations, you deserve a freakin' medal of honor!
  18. Hunt might have tried...but real leaders and players keep trying when adversity hits, they don't pansie out and quit. But the losing attitude goes along with the no talent. You gotta have some players. Crockett is a great program but they have great athletes. Shelton left Chester at the right time. They went off the deep end with talent, so he went to a place that had it. I don't care if you're Phil Jackson, John Wooden, or whoever, you gotta have some players. And these ones lately, even the ones who have quit, have not been up to the talent level as the ones in the late 90's and early milennium. Players come and go...It used to be the exact opposite of what it is now. Boys were successful and girls were terrible. Now, it's changed. Don't get me wrong, Volbert does a great job with the girls, but have you see that talent? Wow. You gotta have some to be successful.
  19. Milan's had success after the 1st few years of Greer leaving. How bout beating bolivar for the district in'99. Then, in the years to follow, '00 and '01, they pretty much would beat every team they faced at least once in those seasons. Including teams such as Chester Co., Bolivar, and North Side. Some very respecable records like; 23 - 6, 18 -9, 15 -12. And that was in the 9 team district. Then, they did have they great team in '03, but lost in the region semi's at Bolivar with a very young player that took control of the game at his home court...you may have heard of him...Willie Kemp??? SLS.. If you are gonna blame someone for losing to Bolivar beacuse Willie Kemp took over, start making out a list, cause it's gonna be a long one. Unbelievable! So yes, the talent is very short right now in Milan. And maybe some of those talented ones will stink it up and work hard, instead of wanting to be treated like they're incredible, cause they're not, and quit when they have to put forth a little effort. Less talented teams have to work harder and they need to accept that. From what I see in the stands, the team last year had Hunt and Bishop, very poor senior leadership, nobody would step up, and they were unsuccessful. Those player wouldn't make that much a difference this year. The talent is very low right now, cause any of the past teams that had to play in that 9 team district would have killed to play in this weak one. They would definitely be competing for that top spot. There is some bright spots of the future. Talk of that freshman bunch is pretty good. With the combo of them and the Postoak kid (who's the backup QB in football), things can get better. No way to go but up right now.
  20. No, that's wrong...Just like he said, The 1st 2 rounds are higher seed, and the 3rd and 4th are pre-determined. There's no way possible 2 of the same seeds can play each other in the 1st 2 rounds, that's why it's the higher seed. Then, it flip-flops each year for the 3rd and 4th rounds. Just like 2003/Rod Smith's senior year, when we beat Huntingdon in the reg. season and they eliminated us at their place in the playoffs.
  21. No, when the principal drives by and checks to see if the boy is there at the house in Milan and he is, every time, it's not the administration's fault. But in response to the Bama/Tenn. quote, also remionds me of Fulmer and Chavis blaming McDonald's and Krispy Kreme for their problems. Just a little humor, no harm intended. But for the record, it's the boosters that gets bama and all these other schools in trouble. It happens at all the schools in college, just a matter of when they get caught. Some people that have nothing to do with the school (much like the milan situation) put kids in positions that they don't deserve to be in. It's an unfortunate situation that is done with and it's time to move on. Can't change the past, but you can make things happen in the future. Run the table Dawgs....Run the table.
  22. Great post, because the word from Morris and Todd (MHS Principal) is that they contacted Ronnie Carter and the TSSAA and made sure they were going by the book and doing everything as legal as it could be done. Whatever the outcome, I feel that it should be said that no one is to blame by any means. Not the coaches, parents, or administration. It's just an unfortunate situation that hopefully will turn out o.k. this week.
  23. No, not jealous...I'd rather be good 8 or 9 out of 10 years than for the sun to shine on me once every decade or so.
  24. A team has a little bit of a down year and you get on here and start running your mouth. Win some championships and this start talking. I guess enjoy it right now while you can. You can tell the teams that aren't on top very much, because they don't know how to handle a win with some class.
