Okay then, try looking at it this way. If all the divisions were put together, how many times out of 10 would you be willing to bet that the state champion came from the middle? MBA, Riverdale, BA, Franklin, (blah..blah...blah...) states above is a pretty powerful top tier. Others may have strength in lower tiers, but the cream of the crop is in the middle.
  2. It also looks like the complaints about MBA's website may be addressed in the near future: http://montgomerybell.com/news/
  3. Either one can win the game for you, but you're a bigger threat if you can do both. A team can't constantly be ready for both, and if you can keep a team off balance you can have your way with them all night.
  4. Not sure what the name is, but around the 2000 season (I think?) a guy from MBA hit an opposing player and knocked his teeth out.
  5. Well... actually the next week's going to be two pretty good teams too. MBA Trinity...
  6. Anybody forgetting the game between MBA and Byrnes being played at Vandy on August 20th?
  7. MBAs is tougher. Game 1: 3 time defending south carolina 4AAAA state champion Byrnes (nationally ranked in a texas preseason poll) Game 2: state champion and formerly nationally ranked Louisville Trinity. Game 3: Last year's DII AAA state champion MUS Game 4: CPA Game 5: Christian Brothers Game 6: JPII Game 7: FRHS Game 8: Brentwood Academy Game 9: McCallie Game 10: Baylor Byrnes, Trinity, CPA, FRHS, Brentwood Academy, and McCallie have all won a state championship within the last decade to the best of my knowledge.
  8. looks great for pre-season rankings... I can see a few shifts, but that's one of the better computer rankings I've seen
  9. Alcoa. JK. Riverdale by whatever they wanted.
  10. Anyone know how long MBA and Father Ryan have had that rivalry?
  11. Then you haven't played against BA, MBA, McCallie, Baylor, Ryan, CBHS, MUS (and Briarcrest) week in and week out.
  12. how about some of the out of state games that the DII schools are playing? Not to mention BA-MBA...rated game of the week nationally by USA today a couple years ago?

    3-4 D

It really depends on who you have.. it was perfect for the pats. A huge noseguard and the best linebacking core in the nfl...I'd run 3-4 all night. You don't necessarily have to have a monster playing the nose spot, just a guy that knows what he's doing. As long as he can get good reads on the guards and knows when to hit the ground to wad up the play there won't be a problem. Anyone over 220 with some good muscle and a quick head should be able to pull it off.

    3-4 D

not exactly... MBA, BA and McCallie all run variations of the 3-4. The 3-4 can be the 50, but that's not always the case. If you change some alignments then the 50 suddenly can become something else and still be a 3-4. 50 means you have a head-up nose, 2 5s (or 4s), 2 d ends and 2 lbs. You could make it a shade, a 3, and a 5 (to either direction), though... and that's not a true 50. MBA BA and McCallie all do that im pretty sure.
  15. Can't say that I know the team well enough to know who would make a good leader... only time will tell on that one.
  16. From AAA, MBA and BA will be good as always...and I think the other 'big team' this year will be Baylor. They return a scary number of players, especially on defense. I'd look for 2 of those three to be in the finals.
  17. MBA's schedule isn't quite set yet, but is looking good. Just wait for the final product, there could be some surprises.
  18. Well, D2 would win 119 anyway
  19. He sustained 3 concussions over a small period of time.
  20. I agree, no one could touch Riverdale this season, but I think MUS would still be a strong second.

    MBA at MUS

The game was decided by less than a touchdown last time...and I really don't think MBA came to play and I think MUS did. I could be wrong, but I think the team that brings its game will win. This one's a toss-up, but given revenge factor...I'll take MBA. Maybe just wishful thinking.
  22. From what I've seen, I'll take BA. It's the playoffs, so I think they'll come to play...and when they've been on their game I think they're the better team.
  23. The MUS-MBA game was definitely not a dirty one; to me it appeared to be a matchup with quite a bit of mutual class. The only thing I can see that you might say is 'dirty' on MBA's part is that they hold pretty frequently and pretty blatantly at times. I don't think that's a sign of trying to hurt anyone, though. Just means more practice is needed. I think the BA game looked a lot better, though. It seems they've been working on it.
  24. The big game I'm worried about MBA losing is actually Baylor...they've got a monsterous defense and last time MBA played them they didn't have to worry about the big RB. After that, another huge threat with MUS, followed by whoever won the other bracket. I want MBA to win it, but it just seems like the road they've got ahead is devastating. All players: take these teams one game at a time, not a single one of them can be overlooked.
