  1. LaVergne is very tough and Oladinni is a real monster at the net. Hope you bring plenty to eat; Oladinni is one hungry volleyball player!
  2. The PageMan went down to Chattanooga and he was looking for a schedule to steal!
  3. Line judging is the best thing in the world.
  4. I also add that the rules provide specific net heights for the girls' game of volleyball and the boys' game of volleyball. There is no height mentioned for a co-ed game. Thus, NFHS regulations de facto ban the co-ed game in high school.
  5. No, they do not. It is listed as "Girls' Volleyball", as opposed to just "Football", not "Boys' Football".
  6. Noticed this in another forum: http://boards.coacht.com/index.php?showtopic=134027
  7. Indeed. Brentwood knows how to put on a show and how to get some of the best teams our state has. Three days of fantastic volleyball makes for a wonderful pre-season. I enjoyed seeing some old and new posters there who were taking in all the great ball. Much sincere gratitude to Barbara Campbell, Jeff Frazier, parents, and the whole crew for rolling out the red carpet and the wonderful hospitality. If you saw this tournament, you certainly enjoyed some really good quality ball. If not, you missed out, but you can catch the Blastoff on August 18-19.
  8. I stand corrected- Coach Stoecker was at Lebanon, not Wilson Central. I didn't think it sounded right! Thanks for the fix!
  9. You are absolutely correct. Siegel Middle has a truly superb feeder program in the works, and the level of play at SMS is outstanding. They have a fantastic coach- Kim Stoecker (spelling?) if I'm not mistaken, who used to be head coach at Wilson Central. Siegel High is going to get a GREAT crop of young talent in the next few years, thanks in no small part to the middle school program. SMS did indeed win their conference championship, in one very exciting match!
  10. Digs, I appreciate the restraint. Greatly. Bratmav, please lay off the sarcasm/negativity and stay on topic. While I find your off-topic comments amusing on occasion, it would be better to make them few and far between, and something like 95% topic, 5% off-topic, not the other way around. You know your volleyball and you make nice contributions to volleyball discussions, so it would be appreciated if you'd stick to those!
  11. Congrats to the girls and to Jay for reaching such success! These girls will be seen in mid-state schools this fall.
  12. According to MTVBA.net, two scorekeepering clinics are being offered this year. From http://www.mtvba.net/events.html : If I find out of any changes, I'll repost. A lot of people showed up last year and the clinics were deemed a success. Hope many folks will come out!
  13. Meetings will primarily take place in July this year, which is a departure from the early August norm. Of course, with year-round school becoming more popular, meetings must begin earlier too. TSSAA State Rules Meetings 7/20....Columbia Central/Columbia..........5:30 pm 7/24....St. Agnes/Memphis.......................5:30 pm 7/25....USJ/Jackson..................................5:30 pm 7/26....FRA/Nashville................................5:30 pm 7/27....Cookeville HS/Cookeville...............5:30 pm 8/2.....East Ridge HS/Chattanooga..........5:30 pm 8/6.....Webb School/Knoxville...................2:00 pm (seems like something is missing) 7/31.............. First Practice 8/21.............. First Contest 10/13............ Division I Districts Must Be Completed 10/17............ Division I Regions Must Be Completed 10/19............ Division I Sectionals Must Be Completed 10/19............ Division II Regions Must Be Completed 10/25-27....... State Tournament On the calendar, State is indicated to be hosted only at Blackman and MTSU. It's also indicated to be back on the Wednesday-Friday format. Is Siegel not co-hosting this year? Is MTSU going to make use of Alumni Memorial (3rd court)? Will Blackman see the use of a 3rd court? Though Siegel has been a FANTASTIC host the last couple of years, I must admit that the use of two sites instead of three would be nice. But, it's only speculation at this point. Hopefully, someone has more knowledge on the subject and can share with us.
  14. That's a crock! Not a thing to prevent that; Taylor Parrish is the first girl who came to mind in that respect. Although she's given up basketball for her senior year, she's played both club and basketball since 8th grade. Hope all is well! 6 months 'til high school volleyball is hot again!
  15. G-town is a West TN team, not middle Semifinalists Division II: BGA, Father Ryan, GPS, HH (ALL 3 Middle TN, 1 East) AAA: Brentwood, Germantown, Siegel, Sullivan South (1 West, 2 Middle, 1 East) A-AA: AC, ER, Goodpasture, Loretto (2 Middle, 2 East) East had a great year, but I still believe Middle takes the edge overall.
  16. LW- You guys came a long, long way this season. I had you several times through the year and you seemed to step it up each time. The upset you pulled in district semis will be remembered for probably a long time to come in some folks' minds, and your near upset in region won't soon be forgotten. Congratulations on a wonderful year and for lighting the way for your program's future. I admit I sorely underestimated what your team could do and I retract every comment I made. I won't underestimate you again in the future. I'm glad I could help you master the overlap problem you had (and fixed). Congratulations, again, on a great year.
  17. Staying on a side court as opposed to moving to the full court would not be the decision of the referee. As with any tournament, it's the tournament director's call. Last year's tournament was a total disgrace. As far as I know, it was indeed TSSAA's call (via their representatives) to keep the finals on the side court. As I remember, they were anything but "behind" and the finals series started rather early. It wouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes for MTSU's arena Murphy Center crew to do their thing. They're always great with running things and very quick in taking care of business. If they had been asked to move to the full court, they would have.
  18. Few, if any, of the readers here see Jefferson County often. Hopefully, TB, you can be the first to share with us what Jefferson has done this year!
  19. Boys' intramurals and girls HS ball aren't exactly the same thing. If you want to repost, go ahead, though I will not guarantee that it won't get deleted.
  20. Provided that Hillsboro and Overton don't upset in the first round (they won't), Independence/Franklin is going to be the best match of this district tournament. It's going to be a real dogfight. They've played 3 or 4 times between regular season and tournaments. I'm already calling it a candidate for Match of the Year. And with the season on the line, you don't wanna miss this one!
  21. Happy to answer your question, DJ. 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3, winners face off for district title. Top two from district go on to region. Top two from region advance to sectional. Regional winner hosts, regional runner-up from neighboring region travel to host site. Sectional winners advance to the dance in the Boro!
