  2. Does any one know about a new pitcher at Central? I heard he was clocked at 92. If it is true he and Wilkes should make a good pair.

I agree. These players of todays era need to hear it everyday. Unfortunately most don't hear it at home. Most parents don't take the time to help their kids with school. Its like they have given up on them by high school. It's pretty sad. When I coached, if you couldn't get it done it the classroom you couldn't get on the ballfield.
  4. McMinn - Matt Tanzi 1B/ Ooltewah - John Howard RHP/3B, Kyler Burke LHP/1B/OF, Hunter Hydas OF, Zack Woods RHP/SS, Blake McDade LHP/1B/ OF, Tim Markum C/DH Soddy Daisy - Derek Rende SS/2B, Jared Dobbs C/RHP/IF/OF, David Alexander OF Baylor - Cody Green RHP Cleveland - Kyle Clayton LHP/1B, Clark Gaston 1B/OF/LHP, Jared Casteel C, Tanner Shamblin SS/2B/3B/RHP McCallie - Tanner Moore RHP/SS, Bart ???? RHP/3B, Andrew Brock IF Red Bank - Bo Geren C, Carroll LHP This soph class is loaded with talent, I am sure I left a few others out. Most all of these played varsity as freshman.
  5. Colonel23 - What summer team do you play for?
  6. I think there is going to be a 17/18 Chattanooga Colonels team this year. Last years 16's and 17's are combining to play a few tourneys. Contact Vaughn or Cofer.
  7. I would like to see fewer teams in the playoffs. Say top two and let the better teams that don't make the playoffs play a bowl game. I think we have too many divisions. Four divisions would be fine in the public side of the house. This would also put our regions back where they need to be. Look at Region 2-5A. Oak Ridge, Farragut, Heritage, William Blount, Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy, McMinn County and Bradley County. The Knoxville area half only brings a handfull of fans to Chattanooga games and the same when Chattanooga area teams travel to Knoxville. Are there any other regions that have this much travel?
  8. His name is Anderson, #25 and he might be the fastest TB in the state. At least his was during the 100 meter dash in Memphis last spring.
  9. Hey guys, I hope your team is not looking past Soddy like you seem to be. They will come to play and play hard.
  10. Ooltewah started as many as eight Soph's this year at various times. They were QB - Zack Woods, RB - Terrance Lowdermilk, WR/S - Matt Lowe, CB/WR/RB - Hunter Hydas, OG - Ben Furman, DE/OT - Jon Holt, LB/TE - Blake McDade, LB/FB - Kyler Burke, S - John Howard, DT- Travis Scurlock, DT - Brandon McCulley. There are a couple more sophs that were ineligible due to transfers and a key injury during camp. Most of these players should start next year and help lead the Owls back to the playoffs. The freshman class has a several players that could contribute next year as sophs.
  11. I did see them play once. They returned a punt 96 yards with about a minute to play to beat Ooltewah. They beat Soddy-Daisy on a late pass interception return for a TD. They struggled to beat Bradley this past friday night. They played Oak Ridge tuff and Oak Ridge is a very good football team. WB seems to find a way to win. I would not take them lightly.
  12. In Region 2 - 5A Ooltewah should be back in the playoffs. They only lose two offensive linemen and a WR on offense. Defense loses a LB, CB, (2)DL. Oak Ridge loses alot of seniors (30) but their sophmore class is real strong. They seem to reload every year. OR and Ooltewah played in the freshman championship game this year also. Soddy Daisy loses alot of their skilled players but most of the line returns. (new QB and backfield) I think they will struggle. Farragut loses 21 seniors, I think they will struggle also. Bradley County should continue to improve maybe playoff contender. Heritage - loses several seniors, I think they will struggle again. McMinn County was young this year and should be a playoff team in 2004. William Blount should be playoff contender also. Other Chattanooga Area teams to watch next year - Boyd Buchanan, Tyner, Red Bank, Cleveland and Rhea County.
  13. Were there any highlights on the news? Or should I say lowlights.
  14. The win against Farragut last night and the Freshman Championship today should jump start this teams off season workouts. Next year should be a much better year for our beloved Owls. This year the varsity never had more than 3 or 4 seniors on the field at anytime. The young linemen must get stronger and learn to be more physical. Woods seemed to look more comfortable last night and did a better job leading the team. The defense played with intensity and heart. Both sophmore tailbacks ran the ball real hard. I think maybe better than anyone expected.
  15. Owls won 31 - 20. The game was not as close as the score. Oak Ridge only had one drive their other two scores were kick-off returns. Ooltewah only punted once and turned the ball over on downs one time.
