  1. Someone needs to get their facts straight. PC was not reported. McKenzie made a proposal to the TSSAA last summer to add basically a multiplier to schools that allow co-op students. The proposal did not pass after regional meetings. Pretty sure Fairview and Camden wanted to stay in their old district because of financial reasons. Moving to a metro district is a death wish for a school's athletic budget due to lack of attendance by metro schools. Athletic budgets are based primarily on how successful football's gate and concession are during the regular season. But you keep telling yourself lies.
  2. If I was a coach I would want to play my Regional Final today just to give my day an extra day of rest before Friday.
  3. A Pearl Cohn-Liberty match up would be a great one to see.
  4. Shelbyville is looking for a new D.C. as Lopez has accepted a position on Craig Clayton's staff at Hoptown. I can never fault a coach making a family decision and returning home. Even though he didn't coach a game, Shelbyville has big shoes to fill with him leaving.
  5. http://www.jacksonsun.com/story/sports/high-school/baseball/2016/03/31/rehmert-keeps-field-green-humboldt/82491388/ Great article about the man responsible for the upkeep of the field.
  6. I had no idea Shay was the coach of the team until seeing the state tournament game. Remember watching him in high school light up the net with his Giles Co. squad. The guy would pull up from 30 ft and flush the nets.
  7. Not true at all. http://usatodayhss.com/2017/memphis-students-start-petition-to-make-memphis-east-boys-riverside-girls-eligible-for-dicks-nationals
  8. The TSSAA needs to address the issue of our state teams not being able to compete in these national tournaments. This year Memphis East and Riverdale Lady Warriors will be denied an opportunity to represent Tennessee on a national stage. The times have changed where this should not be an issue anymore. My question- what has to happen to make this change? Will a school have to submit a proposal and have it voted on across the state? Or can a executive decision be made? What do others think?
  9. Scratching my head why PC is not packing the paint and make Upperman beat them outside. Btw this game has made me want to implement a shot clock in high school basketball.
  10. It won't be the case as Football Teams and baseball players in the past have tried to get them to change their rules and they refuse to do what is best for student-athletes.
  11. Anyone else shocked that Woodward was fired at Antioch today? It would seem the new principal already has someone in mind.
  12. It is really because the TSSAA doesn't care about student-athletes and increasing exposure for not only East but the entire state. This is ridiculous they are letting archaic rules get in the way.
  13. Fairview falls to Giles Co. the game was 54-50 with under 3 to play and turnovers for the Jackets did them in. Unfortunate the refs took the big man for Fairview out of the game with horrendous foul call. Refs dictated the pace of game which favored Giles. Final was 68-58.
  14. Looks like Page went into Lewis Co. and dominated the game.
  15. As long as the TSSAA continues to not enforce the coaching link rule then it will be open season. NPA and other for profit groups will continue to prey on athletes and take them away from their home school.
  16. "Travel ball" has ruined baseball. Now it is if my son gets cut from this team, I will just go start my own travel team. The "travel" circuit is watered down and players play too many games between high school and summer ball. These young arms need rest and they don't get it because of this fallacy that summer ball helps your chances of getting a college scholarship. My high school experience included playing summer ball at our local rec league with my teammates and playing as far as our talent would allow (State Championship\World Series). Our coach never pushed us to throw or our arms and we loved the ability to play with our teammates beyond the high school season. IMO, travel ball is about two things now 1. Money and 2. Parents feeling good that lil Johnny is going across the country playing. We had six guys on my high school baseball team go on a play college baseball and none of use played travel ball. A high school coach if he thinks you are good enough to play at the next level should be helping his players get there. No need to spend thousands of dollars each summer trying to improve your chances. BTW, those players need to make sure they are taking care of their work in the classroom because baseball scholarship money is tough to come by. These travel ball coaches are out here promising full rides in baseball and that is an outright lie.
  17. Anyone have Cascade-Marshall update?
  18. What is the date and times for the tournament this weekend? Looks to be a great event that will be worth checking out.
  19. They did with the last hire and he left them high and dry last July.
  20. Out of the Woods will come a Raven to take the reigns of the Burros.
  21. Metro had no issue putting principals in place who were not certified, why not let a coach in the process of getting his transitional license by the end of the school year apply?
