  1. Two reasons: 1. Prather wouldn't fit in in the locker room... he's too good a kid.. 2. Pearl was too busy mauling Erin Andrews to drivwe to Jackson!!!
  2. Two outstanding teams played a great game. Bottom line, better team won, period.
  3. I would also go with the "family". This is a very tough district and if you want to be competitive you will be spending many many hours in the gym all year round. I am not sure how McCord plans on juggling being father, husband, girls And boys basketball coach and teacher (I guess he is still teaching). He may have to put on his superman suit. ha... Don't worry about the teaching part.. he won't have any classroom duties next year...
  4. He got precisely what he deserved. He was running his mouth the entire match, surprised he didn't get a yellow sooner. No miscommunication, both refs heard what he said. Hope he didn't cost him team the district championship.
  5. Would McCord be a good fit at Union University??? He's expressed an interest in coaching college ball. Let 'er rip folks.
  6. My wish list doesn't include any coaching positions or anyone holding coaching positions. Just believe nwtn is correct.
  7. Great post, very well stated. In this day and time perception becomes reality. As for next year, DCHS will do very well in the AAA district. It's probably easier than 13AA has been the last few years. Northside will be tough with Prather, but their guard play may be their Achilles' heel. Brighton, Munford, and Hardin County aren't going to challenge the top 2 teams. The real test will be in the region, going to be much much tougher to advance. On any given night, differences in size and athleticism at every position can be overcome, but it much harder to do that over the span of 2-3 games in a row. Now before every DCHS fan jumps all over me, I'll take a 6-3 quick guard over a 5-11 quick guard any day of the week. Memphis and Shelby County teams are generally going to be bigger and every bit as athletic if not more so athletic than rural teams are going to be. It's just going to be harder to get to Murfreesboro.
  8. Coach of the year is an irrelevant award. All that matters is the result at the end of the last game. It's a nice recognition, but has little to do with the actual coaching job anyone does. As far as 13AA, McCord did a good job, he had the best players, the best team, and did what he was supposed to do in those circumstances. As far as COY goes, it's voted on by the other coaches, making it something of a popularity contest. Fair or not, he isn't well liked or respected by the other coaches in the district for what ever reasons. That's a harsh statement, but not speculation. That said, congratulations to all 13AA teams moving forward, and good luck.
  9. Dunno if they'd hire Fulmer... he wore orange too long!!!! If he were hired, he'd better beat the Choctaws or pack the moving van!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. MG, what's the scoop out of D'burg? Any major changes in the wind??? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  11. The game has not passed Coach Russell by. I had the privilege of playing and coaching against him and his teams at several levels. His teams play hard. He knows the strengths and weaknesses of his players better than anyone else. Right now, neither John Wooden, Bobby Knight, nor Coach K could do much more with his players. They will be better in postseason play than they are now, and they will be far better over the next few seasons. Don't try to make coaching decisions if you've never earned a paycheck coaching, you're gonna be in over your head in a hurry! Coach Russell has forgotten more about the game than any of you bashers!
  12. DC has to be number 1. No other school has as many players from across rural West Tennessee!!!!!!!!!
  13. Don't forget P.A. Pratt!!!!!!
  14. Bowling bowed out. BTW, StevieRay, great post. I meant no disrespect to the players and coaches, just wanted to poke the "die hard supporter" bear a little.
  15. UC D'burg..... interesting is a major understatement!!!!
  16. C'mon guys ,where are you???? No news since Friday. What about the playoffs and Trezevant? Can't be fair weather fans and call yourself fans. Let's hear the excuses and predictions.
  17. The new Dyersburg coach is Kim Decker. This could be very interesting, the AD at Tennessee State, Theresa Phillips, coached the men's team a few years ago. Are there any other female coaches coaching boys' basketball teams in the state? I know the Lake County middle school boys' team has been well coached by a woman.
  18. Mg, Great post... but it's Rhodes' Scholar... and it's graduate level studies, not secondary level. Not saying MBA hasn't turned out any Rhodes' scholars, but the reached that milestone after college....

  20. Great article, great posts. Any school or school system that claims to be "quality" or "committed to excellence" that doesn't have quality athletic, band, drama, chorus, or other extracurricular programs is hypocritical at best.
  21. Rudesill has decided to stay @ Bolivar. D'burg's search continues, or begins all over, depending upon your perpective.
  22. Not 100% convinced D'burg will beat GC. If they do, they are one and done in the region.
