That's really sad of you. ... Not only have you missed the point, but you've gone to great lengths to do so. ... There is no point continuing this discussion with people like you. ... But, hey, you can always fall back on the most mis-quoted phrase in human history: "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." .... You go ahead and do your thing, and I'll do mine. At some point in time, we'll compare notes.

That's great to hear. Good for you. I've heard a lot about Lasik in the past few years and have considered getting it done (I'm a -2.50 in one eye and -2.75 in the other, whatever all that means). Keep us posted on your vision, and good luck to ya.

WHEW!! .... I just figured it was b/c when you look up "Hunk" in the dictionary, there is this entry: "Opposite-See NWTennSports"

Ok, I take great offense to people saying that man can destroy what God created. Yes, I believe in a higher being and, yes, I believe He created the universe and, yes, I believe only He can destroy it. ... Anyone who wants to make fun of me and my beliefs, go right ahead. All I know is that I'm prepared for my judgment day. .... I have a feeling all those people who don't put much stock in a higher being -- including those who twist the words of the Bible to meet their own agendas -- are going to have a hard time explaining themselves when they get to the gates. Now, back to the topic of this thread. Instead of everyone WASTING THEIR TIME trying to figure out what caused the disaster, why don't we spend a little more time and effort figuring out ways to HELP THE VICTIMS. It's called priorities.

Great stuff! ... Yeah, we does akchilly tawk like tha-ut. fixinta .... We's fixinta go ta der store.

Dang! I was gonna post that one. It's my favorite corny joke of all time.
-
Oakland, may I make a suggestion? .... Make a file in your 'puter, then cut and paste all these jokes to it. ..... In each one, change "Michigan" to "Tennessee" and then change the name of each school or state that comes off looking good in the joke to your favorite. ... E-mail them to all of your Michigan friends and have a good laugh on us. .... It is, after all, just humor. Lighten up. You'll live longer. By the way, speaking of picks: My pick for the Cotton Bowl was A&M 38, Vols 21. I'm glad I was wrong.

The war in IRAQ

Ok, the discussion is getting too deep for me. I'm heading back to the sports boards. -
The war in IRAQ

Yes indeed. ... A fine town with some nice people, and I mean that. .... If I ever have to move, Dover would be a pretty darn good place to relocate. -

Ok, my friend .... a couple of quick points 1. Former reporter (long story; let's sit down and talk about it next time I'm in Dover, which could be a couple of weeks. ... But, your point on that is well-made.) 2. My mistake. Teddy boy shouldn't be in jail for treason. You're right. The free speech thing. ... But, he should be in jail for murder. A little car mishap on a bridge involving a young lady named Mary Jo. .... Funny, it was, hearing him talk about water torture treatments during the opening of the Attorney Gen. confirmation hearings. And, thoughts and prayers to your son. Let's hope they can all come home soon. -
That sounds about right. Too busy being Mr. Awesome Chick Magnet and the next multi-sport superstar from the state of Tennessee. Well, anyway, there's a little 5-year-old girl I know who is already proficient in computers and is learning about sports from her wonderful daddy. I'll nominate her.
-
They're all little sweethearts. ... And, I'll be proud to nominate my beautiful little 5-year-old as Babe No. 5.

WOW! Sounds like a great game. Wish I coulda been there. Thanks for all the info.

Amazing how they only challenge results in battleground states they lost. Bush lost some states by much closer margins than Kerry lost Ohio, so he could legitimately challenge those results, huh?? The elder Bush and Dole could also challenge b/c Clinton never received a majority popular vote (could those elections, with third-party candidates, been subjected to a run-off???). Maybe even Reagan could have challenged Minnesota in 1984 and possibly swept all 50 states instead of his 'slim' 49-1 win, right??? ... Let's also make another very important point: Gore took his challenge to the Supreme Court and Kerry had his fellow travelers take his case to the floors of the House and Senate. Meanwhile, Nixon accepted his 1960 loss and moved on. So, by definition, Nixon was a bigger and better man that both Gore and Kerry. Wow, the irony is astounding.

Ask again if its 12 years later, 58,000 Americans have died and we've given up and let the terrorists take over the Middle East. ..... Focus here, people. We're not fighting an army, we're fighting sub-human killers. We're trying to free a region that has been held prisoner by these thugs for generations. We're not just trying to liberate a country, we're trying to liberate an entire race of people. That should be applauded and supported, not undermined. Ted Kennedy should be in jail for treason for some of his anti-liberation actions. -
There's actually a group called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington???? Hey, good luck with that.
-
Now, if Ted Koppel, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Wolf Blitzer and the rest would admit that they're nothing more than paid flunkies of the libs and be "stand-up guys" as well, we'd really be making some progress here.
-
Well, that would make it unnecessary then. .... Well, maybe we can hook up Beez with an account.
-
Ok, I didn't vote and I have two gripes. (1) Why am I not among the hunks?!? (2) Where is the CoachT "Babes" poll (with photos, of course)
-
Let's see here ..... CoachT is one of the most popular websites IN THE WORLD and The Andy Griffith Show has never been off the air since its debut in the early 1960s. .... That says something about common decency and providing a family atmosphere. .... Way to go, CoachT! I'm proud to be a member.
-
People, please. .... That's one of the worst movies ever. .... Everyone who starred in it should be arrested for excessive cruelity. .... If you think the libs were upset b/c some people in our military made those poor defenseless prisoners in Iraq pose for some Maplethorpe photos, just imagine the outcry if those prisoners had to watch this stupid movie all the time?!??!?

Sorry I missed that one. Probably a great game. ..... Galilee, you might not remember me, but we've had some interesting discussions about Memphis inner-city athletics. .... Hope you never took anything too personal, and your comments really helped me understand the city a little better .... Anyway, just wondering if you had seen the thread someone started saying the TSSAA needed to regulate Memphis (it's in the Boys Basketball forum). In essence, the message seemed to be that Memphis recruited. I'm interested in reading a post from you about it. ..... I believe you also said something in a post once about Mitchell having built a new school. I'd like to know more about it and where exactly it's located. I go to Memphis every so often, and I'd like to stop in an look you up someday if I have time.

Don't let the TSSAA get away with this one
NWTennSports replied to WriteStuff's topic in Boys Basketball
That's mirrors what I have said for many years. ... Under the current format, a team can lose THREE TIMES in the postseason and still advance to the state tournament, as long as you lose the right three games (district semis and consolation, and regional finals). That's a joke. .... One reason postseason in general is not as big anymore is because teams keep on playing win or lose. Why go watch Monday's night's game when we'll be playing Thursday if we lose and Friday if we win? Insane. When something has the appearance of never ending, people lose interest. .... And, quite frankly, the entertainment dollar is stretched too thin nowadays with all the games and gadgets kids and adults can purchase. For several years, the suits at ABC wondered why Monday Night Football was losing ratings. They changed broadcasters over and over, jazzed up the pregame stuff, turned Hank Jr. into a Heavy Metal man and have even tried to add sex appeal on the sideline. But, the reason MNF was losing ratings was because of ESPN, Fox Sports, Cable and Digital TV, Stadium Seating movie theaters, computers and their many games, on and on. .... In today's world, you can't just throw out a product and hope people buy it. You can't just say, "Here's the state tournament. Enjoy." You have to sell it, push it, promote it, get the host community deeply involved and get all the state's other communities involved as well. The T$$AA has to get out and take a refresher course on the state of Tennessee. Find something each community does well and build a little sideshow around it at the tournament. For instance, have a luncheon sponsored by the Strawberry Festival in Humboldt, of course serving strawberry-inspired dishes. Give free tickets to the city's festival members and offer special prices on tournament tickets to the community. .... And, it needs to be a year-long promotional effort. When was the 2005 Rose Bowl parade? Jan. 1, 2005. When did the committee begin working on the 2006 parade? Jan. 2, 2005. It takes work to make something meaningful and worthwhile. .... The state tournament needs to be a statewide event with the whole state involved. So, in essence, the state tournament needs to get bigger, not smaller. -
Well, goodness knows I've had my share of complaints about Memphis schools, but I'm not buying this recruiting thing in Memphis and how it keeps other teams from winning state championships. .... Union City High School, in a tiny town inside a tiny county in a rural section of the state, beat Memphis schools three times in substate play on the way to state championships in the 1990s. In 1997, UC beat Memphis Melrose in the state tournament. That Melrose team had players who went on UT on football schlarships. .... You play with what you have. Instead of moaning about Memphis teams and talent, you should look at playing a Memphis team as an opportunity. Relish the challenge, don't run from it.
