  1. A day late but here's my rankings for this week. ( )=rank last week 1. Jackson Northside (9-0) Won three games handily in Union tournament. Won't be tested until district play. (1) 2. Westview (15-2) Won Lions Club Tourney with four wins, averaging 91 ppg. (3) 3. Dyersburg (14-1) Won their own tournament with wins over Houston, Obion Co., & Munford. (4) 4. Obion County (15-2) Drop due to loss to Dyersburg but 2-4 still a tossup. Sandwiched that loss with wins over good Bolivar & Poplar Bluff teams. (2) 5. Gleason (14-0) Remains unbeaten after convincing win over Crockett Co. at Alamo. Potential bump in the road upcoming Friday at So. Fulton. (5) 6. Chester County(9-4) Forfeit to Brentwood Acad. aside, they've lost to only Gleason & Westview. (6) 7. Crockett County (8-4) Stay at #7 despite big loss to Gleason at home. Big week coming up with Humboldt & Obion Co. (7) 8. Dresden (12-4) Lost to AAA Munford but came back to finish 5th at Dyersburg with wins over Paducah Tilghman & Bolivar. (9) 9. Humboldt (9-4) Beat Gibson Co. for 2nd time before edging Milan for Gibson County title. Host Crockett Co. Tuesday. 10. Trenton Peabody (11-3) Have lost three straight. Should recover well this week with Bradford & Halls. (8) Dropped out: Gibson County-Another loss to Humboldt drops the Lady Pioneers for now. Bubbling under: McNairy County-Lone loss to Gleason, has wins over Bolivar & good Class A teams. Honorable Mention: Bolivar, So. Fulton, Middleton, Munford, Milan.
  2. Westview girls. These chicks dig the long ball!!!!!!
  3. Voice is not bad. Have had to pull a little more play-by-play than expected.
  4. 5:00 TCA-Fulton City 5th place 6:30 So. Fulton-Ocean Springs Ms. 3rd place 8:00 Westview-JCM 1st place
  5. Saw what happened in Union City paper after I posted last night. Bruceton dropped out of Huntingdon tournament so Obion was only going to get one game. Turrell Ark. dropped out at Dyersburg. OC will play thru Wed. at Dyersburg but still play at Huntingdon on Thursday.
  6. I'm confused as well Bigster. You saw OC play at Dyersburg? Bolivar was supposed to play Turrell Ark.
  7. How is Obion County playing at Dyersburg? I thought they were in the tournament at Huntingdon?
  8. Merry Christmas back as well. We will be broadcasting the LC-G'field game on the 22nd.
  9. Based on potential, I would agree. Based on the early season slump as you called it, I'm comfortable where they are right now. If Lexington beat Crockett I would have to move them up to a tie for 8th with Lake Co. Can't drop anyone out this week.
  10. If the chemistry is there, Lake Co. could be a real spoiler by tourney time. Clay has great potential and has shooters to compliment her. Time will tell.
  11. Shelby Co. fans can see my disclaimer on the girls board. Boys Top 10 was tougher than girls but here's my list for this week. 1. Bolivar Central-Defending AA champs playing tough schedule. Wins over Haywood & Middleton, 2-pt loss to Northside. 2. Union City-Exciting to watch, reeled off 15 straight before losing to host team at Calloway Co. Ky. tourney. Have beaten Liberty & Humboldt in that string. 3. Haywood County-Tomcats among quartet of teams from southwest who might beat each other any given night. Wins over Northside & JCM, loss to Bolivar. 4. Jackson Northside-Split with both Ridgeway & Liberty. Beat Bolivar but lost to Haywood. When healthy may get to top. 5. Humboldt-Vikings get slight nod for 5th due to their win over Liberty. Have beaten Peabody as well, lost to Union City. 6. Liberty-Crusaders emerging as a force already. Wins over Northside, JCM, Southside & practically everyone in Jackson. Losses to Northside, Union City, & Humboldt. 7. Dyersburg-Solid 7-2 with four wins on the road. Lost at Union City. 8. Lake County-Top Class A team right now with wins over Middleton & Trenton Peabody. Will face stiff competition in Illinois next week. 9. Middleton-Have six wins over AA schools, only Class A loss to Lake Co. Losses to Lexington & Bolivar. 10.(tie) Lexington-Wins over Trenton Peabody & Middleton but losses to Southside & Crockett Co. Trenton Peabody-Haven't beaten a TOP 10 team but have beaten good teams. Losses to Humboldt, Lake Co. & Lexington. Honorable Mention: Hardin Co., West Carroll, Jackson Christian, Covington, Greenfield
  12. I plan to update each week and will have it on our broadcasts. Like I said, 2-4 is a tossup, Westview probably is the better team but Obion did win at Westview & beat Upperman, something Westview didn't do. The Lady Rebs have not played the schedule Westview has for sure. Couldn't put Humboldt ahead of Gibson Co. after the Lady Pioneers performance in the Upper Cumberland. Before that probably. We'll see Monday.
  13. Thanks, I posted the Lions Club lineup the other day. Hope Ocean Springs MS. can make it up from the Gulf Coast & bring some sunshine.
  14. I know I'll catch some heat for not including Shelby Co., but as many of us have defended on several occasions, we realize geographically Shelby Co. is in West Tennessee but the idea is to give some recognition to rural West Tennessee. No offense is intended to any of the fine institutions in the Memphis area. You have your Dandy Dozen. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way. 1. Jackson Northside-Haven't played many games but unbeaten & led by Sha Brooks. 3A state finalist a year ago. 2. Obion County-Stubbed their toe against South Fulton but quality wins over Upperman & Westview earn a shaky #2. 3. Westview-Bounced back from loss to Obion to storm through Mid-South Classic until the winter storm distracted them in finals. 4. Dyersburg-Two through four are really a tossup. Lone loss at Westview with wins over Crockett Co. & Trenton Peabody among others. 5. Gleason-Undefeated with early wins over Chester Co., McNairy Co., & Dresden. Key matchup upcoming with Crockett Co. 6. Chester County-Have lost twice to Westview & once to Gleason. Quality wins include Crockett Co., Gibson Co., & Jackson Co. 7. Crockett County-Have won six straight after starting 1-3. Last three wins are Gibson Co., Peabody, & USJ. 8. Trenton Peabody-Rough two games at Alamo after opening 11-0 losing to Crockett Co. & Dyersburg. Wins include Gibson Co. & Dresden. 9. Dresden-Three losses were all close to Obion Co., Gleason, & Trenton. Impressive wins over Humboldt, FRA, & South Fulton. 10. Gibson County-Righted the ship with two good wins & close loss to Clarkrange at Mid-South. Will be a force no doubt. Honorable Mention: McNairy Co., McKenzie, Humboldt, Bolivar, So. Fulton, Adamsville, Middleton, USJ.
  15. Very thorough job my friend. I applaud my partner Sportsradio's Top 10 and your as well.
  16. Not to mention he can flat out kill a golf ball!
  17. He was an assistant to Jimmy Whitby at OC before he went to Trimble. And hey, I won two state junior high championships and the only ring I got was around my collar sweatin' 'em out!
  18. Not sure about the six-quarter rule WesCharge. I would have to go back & read it. Been awhile. The Lions Club Tournament is the longest running Christmas tourney in the state but has been joined by numerous in-state & out of state affairs. The alternating boys & girls is not working and I've been assured that next year the format will return to both boys/girls with an aggressive effort to field good 8-team fields. This year's tournament is the result of not getting started until July but they have a good sports man in charge now, John Hatler, he'll do well.
  19. Quite alright my friend. Sounds like The Wizard has the 'View recovered from their loss to Obion. Merry Christmas to all on the Upper Cumberland. I understand it's white up there. Headed this way tonight.
  20. This years tournament will be a six-team pool format over three days with two sessions on Tuesday, the 28th. Mon. 27th 5:00 TCA-Ocean Springs, Ms. 6:30 Fulton, Ky.-So. Fulton 8:00 JCM-Westview Tues. 28th Morning 11:00 Fulton-Westview 12:30 JCM-Ocean Springs 2:00 So. Fulton-TCA Tues. 28th Evening 5:00 Fulton-Ocean Springs 6:30 JCM-So. Fulton 8:00 TCA-Westview Wed. 29th 5:00 5 vs 6 6:30 4 vs 3 8:00 2 vs 1 Teams will be seeded after Tuesday evening session based on their 3 games to set matchups for Wednesday. The tournament is held at Westview High School. Sidenote: The twin cities schools of Fulton & So. Fulton have not met in girls basketball since 1995 despite their close proximity. So. Fulton beating Obion Co., who earlier in the week had beaten Westview, has the Lady Red Devils playing confidently going into this no doubt. All 12 games can be heard on WCMT 101.3 or on the internet at www.crunet.com.
  21. Thanks for the compliment as I know I speak for Robin as well. Trenton is the team to beat in the West again. Happy Holidays!
  22. Ooooh, Sha Brooks & an up & coming Liberty team followed by a war in the boys game. Delk/Delk etc. vs the high-octate Crusaders! Now that's MUST-SEE TV!
  23. You're thinking of Harpeth Hall, all girls D-2 powerhouse in Nashville.
