  1. Two guys under 48 for BA is a stretch, one is very possible in Chris Vaughn though. Ben Davies, who I assume is your other sub-48 prediction, will more than likely not touch the open 400 outside of the decathlon come May. You'll only be seeing him in the 300m hurdles, where he will likely be sub-38.
  2. The point of my post was not to bring on a class of '06/'07 war. Personal attacks aside, its quite a stretch to say the class of '06 did nothing for last year's mafia. The class of '06 and class of '07 were both very much involved in last year's mafia, each bringing different things to the table. If you were to remove either class, last year's mafia would have been very different. Last year's mafia is not the mafia in question though. Maybe I caught the mafia on a down night, but I was sad to see the lack of enthusiasm as the game wore on. I'm glad to know the front lines were ready, but it would have been nice to hear them. There is no doubt in my mind that this years mafia is awesome when you bring your A game, but the A game was not brought last Friday night, which is kind of disheartening since the game was against MBA in our own house. I'll refrain from posting my name for the purpose of other discussions, but should you want to know who you are talking to you'll find me front and center on page 188 in the 2006 year book.
  3. Dear Mafia, I was present tonight for the game against MBA. Despite the lopsided score of the first half, MBA came to play and provided a very good game. Tonight was one of the closest games BA has had with MBA in quite a while. I was very impressed with the boys from West End and the effort they put forth. However, I was not impressed with you. As the mafia began to warm up at the end of the girl's game I relived my mafia days in my head and was very excited to see what this year's mafia could do. The mafia always comes out strong for tip off and the first quarter of the game, and you kept this tradition strong, helping our Eagles bust out to a quick start and gain an early lead. As the lead grew larger I will admit I wasn't that surprised to see the mafia begin to calm down. But as a mafia alumni, I was surprised to see the Mafia fail to respond as MBA began making their run in the 2nd half and get themselves back into the game. MBA had control of the game the 2nd half and the mafia did nothing to try and change that. What is going on with the mafia? In years past it didn't matter if we were up by 30 or 13 against MBA, the mafia always made their presence known the entire game. I would have forgotten you guys existed if it weren't for the "I Believe..." chant the last minute of the game. You guys didn't even pull out the "woosh" on free throws until the last 30 seconds of the game. That is probably the easiest cheer in the book. If this is how the mafia is going to act during a close game at home against our biggest rival, I'm not sure I want to know how things will be against other teams. Get your act together mafia, tonight is not how you are going to help our boys win Five. Signed, A disappointed Mafia Alumni
  4. I'm not sure I understand why almost everytime BA wins a state title somebody has to open this old can of worms. I really don't think we need to go there. I'm sorry if I offended you. I was in no way trying to belittle McCallie and their efforts in region and state. McCallie ran great last night and put up a good competition. I was only giving props to BA being able to overcome their adversity and claim a 4th straight. I probably should have been more clear on that.
  5. The road to a state title does not come without adversity. Every team has problems and every team has injuries. To win a state title in D2 you have to be able to overcome this. Congrats to BA on the win.
  6. have we gotten the east results in yet?
  7. davies will have a better shot at ayers in the summer when the javelin is substituted in for the TJ(it helps to be a 190+ jav thrower... which davies is) as it is with the TJ i think ayers is untouchable right now
  8. Awful presumptious of you there to say that Davies would have won over Ross, but he no doubt would have placed high. It looks like D2 State is going to be the meet to watch this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the meet came down to the 4x400m. It should be a great meet.
  9. BA definatly is the team with the target on their back this year. If anyone is going to take them down it is going to be McCallie. McCallie came out strong at the Midsouth Classic last week. BA is going have to be on top of their game to get it done again this year. It should be interesting to see how both teams progress on into the season.

  11. it'll be interesting to see the outcome of a Sloss/Oatts race hopefully they get to run against each other before state it'd also be nice to throw the BA boys in there (Ross/Davies) with all 4 of them in the same race we could see some sick times, but we probably won't get to see that
  12. its hard to beat a good quality jazz band in my books
  13. Congrats to Josh Bone for the Hometown Hero award what a great essay...
  14. I was just merely stating that GJ was faster I said nothing about one being more athletic than the other Ayers might have been better last year at the state meet, but in the summer Davies was the one to beat. Take away the Triple and throw in the Javelin and Davies beats Ayers by a good amount (not huge though). It also helps that Davies is an all around better thrower, hurdler and runner (except for 1500m). Ayers has an advantage in the jumps and the vault (although moreso in the jumps, as Davies's vault is usually only a foot under Ayers). It'll be interesting this year to see how much the two have improved and to see if Davies can overcome the triple jump to top Ayers at state. And what does the Javelin matter? It matters for scholarship money. I'd say a college looking at Davies for the decathlon would rather see his 190+ javelin throw than a 42+ triple jump. Also, winning a few national championships doesn't hurt either.
  15. having seen them both race each other in workouts... GJ is faster but thats pretty much a given both are incredible athletes
  16. gametime is 6 if i'm not mistaken
  17. Doesn't MBA still have to play Trinity tonight? I think we should take it one game at a time for the Big Red...
  18. When my sanity is on the line, yes...
  19. Yeah, I've pretty much given myself away to anyone who is knowledgeable about BA's track team... but that's alright.
  20. That would be a negative. I'm about 2 years older, 3 inches shorter, and 25 lbs lighter than that particular freshman with a sister who is a pentathalete.
  21. I'd tell you my name, but then I'd have to kill you. Just kidding... I run for Brentwood Academy and thats about all I'm going to say. That should be enough to let you know who I am.
  22. I run under Personal Best/Kindersport. Its not really a team oriented track club, more for the induvidual. The best track club as far as a team perspective goes in the Nashville Area is either the Music City Track Club or Precision Track Club. As far as USATF invite meets go, they have a standard qualifying mark and if you meet that mark you can compete in the meet. USATF also runs an Association/Region/Nationals circut similar to what AAU does. The only difference is that the USATF competition is a little stiffer.
