  1. The worst I've ever heard is at Bolton and it's not becuase they ae Bartlett's rival. This guy, when Bolton has the ball, does play-by-play over the PA. It is incredibly annoying.
  2. I'm not gonna say he's the best in the state by any means but Bill Clements of Bartlett has a very nice and very very quick shot
  3. What game was that mayor? I was at all the Bartlett/Harding/Rossville games there and I do not recall his ever being ejected.
  4. Beating Bolton doesn't mean a whole lot this year but even so that is a VERY impressive performance by the Delk twins. Congrats JNS on the 14-2 record. As far as the D-Burg/JNS game goes I think that will be a very interesting game to watch. I'll probably have a Bartlett game the same night but it would be fun to see.
  5. It seems like the biggest arguement for a shot clock is that it would speed up games and make them less boring. High school basketball is just that. High school. If high school went to a shor clock nationally I could simply stay at home and play NBA Street and get the same entertainment value
  6. Spree, I have pretty close contact with the boys and girls coaches and Bartlett and I can tell you what you saw. Our girls(to my memory) had never been 12-0. The strength of schedule is not the problem. What was the problem is, as I heard from Coach Whitfield, that our girls were starting to get a big head and not playing hard in practice and your're going to get beat eventually in that frame of mind. I was at theat game against Olive Branch,Ms and that's what I thought was going to happen because our girls were not playing on the same intensity level as they had early in the year. Hope that helps man
  7. Congrats to BC on a great win.Sounds like they were able to draw more contact and get to the line and go 19 of 23. That to me stands out. I really do hope they both make it to the AAA Championship game again this year for a rematch. Talk about drama..lol Opperman ya beat me to it. As if out game against the Spartans wasn't gonna be ugly enough now they are going to come in to Bartlett on a mission. Thanks a heap Bears!!! j/k guys Again, congrats on the win
  8. Then I apologize mas. I don't often do that and I am sorry that I dind't finish the thread.
  9. Mas, please allow me to put a plastic bag over my head before my brain explodes. Denham Springs isn't even in Tennessee. I doubt White Station would be undefeated if they played Oak Hill Academy or the New Jersey Nets but that doesn't matter here either. And Opperman is no less bias toward Memphis than any number of posters of any other section of the state.
  10. Nice job Greenfield!! Way to take it to those Wildcats
  11. Hillwoodfan, I hear your frustration but I would still give Gamble a chance. I cannot and won't comment on what goes on in that locker room and certainly you would know more than I. Although, I would like to maybe suggest something. One of the keys to Bartlett's success under Coach Smith was the great relationship he had with the parents of the players. Maybe you could( or for all I know already have) talk to Coach Gamble express your concern but express support for both him and the players which I know you do. Not that would condone calling players dumb but I can understand the frustration inheriting a program with precious little talentand being expected to win. All in all, it's just a thought You're a father of a player and I'm only a senior in college so I'm in no way, shape,or form dictating to anybody on how as a parent this situation should be dealt with. I just wish all the luck in the world to you, your son, and that program.
  12. You are correct Stokomo. A foul is a foul but it is based on the judgement of what the ref thinks he sees. For the most part refs do a good job for what litttle they are paid and certainly take a lot of heat. All one can ever ask of a ref is to be consistant and keep really physical games under control. If it's being called( or not called) both ways then that's more than fine. Now, as far as refs deciding the outcomes of games I think you are correct to a large degree Stokomo. Players decide the outcomes 99.99995% of the time but I have witnessed several games over the years in extremely close game(under 30 seconds and such) where I think the quick judgement of the ref cuased the game to shift in another direction. That said, in close game situtations like that I really do beleieve you should let the kids play unless there is an obvious walk, reach in, intentional foul or what have you.Plus, sometimes calls are so hard to make it really isn't the refs fault and he has blow the whistle and make a call knowing he's gonna get booed and cheered either way.Even so, to have a team down by one or two with 10 seconds left and call a walk on a kid becuase you THINK he MIGHT have dragged his pivot foot is just wrong. Understand I'm NOT trying to bash refs and if this comes across in that way then I apologize beacuse that is not the intent of this post. Some calls are just hard to make. Case in point. Last year Bartlett and White Station played each other in the sub-state and the game pretty much came down to a charge that was called and went in the Spartans favor. Was the call questionable? yes. What is a hard call to make? No doubt. There was a whistle blown and it was a toss up as to if it was a charge or not. I don't blame that ref at all for Bartlett losing the game because we missed an ungodly amount of gimmie baskets under the basket. We lost on account of our mistakes and credit great play by White Station. Sorry for the legth of the post guys but that's just my two cents. take care
  13. Not that I disagree Brownhut but if you're going by records Bolton has one loss and Bartlett doesn't.( according to this site, if that is wrong than forget what I just said.lol) Houston and Bartlett meet again tonight at Houston. It will be a VERY tough game for both teams. Nice rankings overall although I think Cordova/Millington may a little close to call at this point. Good job though:)
  14. Yeah and they'd be a lot better right now if Amanda Lipswagahafgrmfgfjher( I never could spell her last name) hadn't transferred to Briarcrest. What I love about Nikki Thompson is the level of intensity and poise she brings to each game. She and Herring both are so impressive for freshman. Last night Herring shut down Woodale's leading scorer in the 2nd half holding her to under 20 points for the 1st time this season.( I'm sorry, her name is just escaping me)Bartlett came back being nine down at the half to defeat a tough Lady Cardinals team. What the Lady Panthers lack in size they make up for in heart and team play. Junior Brittany Barlow can be a force down in the post as can sophomore Linda Beckwith. Junior Gina High is a wonderful all-around player and the lone senior on the squad,Rebecca Scott, is the resident 3-point sharp shooter. These girls are fun to watch and I'm grateful to be able to watch and call their games.
  15. With Bartlett 8-0 the Lady Panthers should be placed #1 on that list. Bolton at #2 then Cordova,Millington, and Munford. The Bartlett/Bolton match-up will very fun to watch come district play.
  16. One kid who has impressed me at Bartlett is Chip Smith. He's a senior who has never quite been known for his hustle and had to rehab an injured knee this summer. He's come out working very hard in the post, hustles a lot more, and has developed a really nice shooting touch underneath the basket. Granted, He'll never be confused for a candidate for Mr. Basketball but I felt I should give this guy some credit for turning his game around.
  17. Towns is a fantastic player. Period. Torjanbob, I shudder to think how good the Bartlett girls could be if Melissa were still on our team.( and they are 5-0 right now). That said, Bartlett has a very talented feshman in Ashley Herring and she could end up being a very special player. I also think Amber Bacon at Millington is a fun player to watch.
  18. Seems like the TSSAA is trying too hard to be like big brother NCAA.
  19. Gomab and Opperman beat me to it.lol The Spartans are just plain scary as usual. Now I haven't had a chance to see Raleigh-Egypt yet but from what Opperman has told me I wouldn't wanna play them either
  20. AAA-- White Staion and Ridgeway(MAYBE Hamilton) AA- Raleigh-Egypt and Haywood Co.
  21. I agree. White Station is on the rise but Collierville is much stronger right now. Plus, I think White Station's rise to the dandy dozen is a tad premature . I give them credit for a tough win at Houston but beating Harding and Central doesn't prove much. Good luck to both teams on friday but I pick the Dragons by at least 10
  22. to jump on the Bartlett Panther train!!!!!! Big game vs. Bolton this friday. The winner of this game most likely will finish #1 in region 7 5A. Let's go Panthers...Make it 3-1 on the year.
  23. Hey VG, did November get hurt? I hope he's ok
