  1. Bethel got a huge donation from a widow that died a few years after her husband died. I believe he was a doctor or lawyer and had went to bethel for his undergrad back in the day. He loved sports and wanted some money donated when he died. I think she donated 2 million after she died. That really got the ball rolling for them. And they have great administration there to support the growth.
  2. Well Big Country the other thread got shut down so I thought I would write back on this one. I will be moving to Ashland city some time in the next week. I have noticed that you have a good knowledge base about football and really follow the game. I respect that. Anyways I'll be up there in about a week and I can't wait to get into practice and then two a days.
  3. I know that everyone has problems and everybody has to deal with their own small "tragedies" in life. But my heart really sank this morning when I found out that the most recent Willis star to come out of Bruceton drown Monday while swimming with friends. This was a great kid. I played against his older brother Patrick when he was at Bruceton. They are both great people that had great raising. They were well mannered and no matter how the game or even the previous play came out they were the first ones to say good job or something to that extent. My heart goes out to this family and especially to Patrick at this time. I coached against Bruceton last year and I saw Detris play first hand. He played very hard and really loved the game. I don't really know what else to say other than I'll be praying for everyone in the Bruceton/Hollow Rock area that knew this young man, and I hope others of you will be too.
  4. I told my wife that last year about the Rose Bowl, but we see that it didn't turn out that way for vol fans. I still could have seen a great game, but it just wasn't the right orange and white for me.
  5. Sorry guys please excuse my friend/part time roommate. He is more trouble than he is worth sometimes. He told me what happened so I need to get on here and straighten things out. I think nothing but the best of coach Rodgers. He was there when I played, and he turned Dresden's program around. They were having trouble competing at 2A for a couple years, but now they are doing fine. I have had my own trouble at Greenfield for a couple of years now, and I will surely have some more down the road. I hope he didn't bother anyone, and I am sorry. I told him he had to get his own account, but he hasn't done it yet. Once again I am sorry. Josh
  6. First of all, I don't know who you are, but I thought you should know that Josh didn't write that. I am his friend and I just use his screen name when I feel like posting on here because he has a membership thing. Anyways, who is his boss that he is attacking? And I was just saying the same thing another poster confirmed after me. East Robertson outscored Dresden 30-6 in the second half because Dresden didn't make any adjustments. I am sorry if I offended someone. I guess I should think about Josh's name before I say bad things about someone. My bad I guess! Dresden plays hard and I believe they will make the playoffs this year. My appologies to whoever was offended!
  7. They have Matt Hewitt back and that is the most important thing. He'll be one of the best backs in West Tennessee this year if he can stay healthy. They have one big Tackle who is pretty good named Vallee. They're quarterback is just a sophomore. They will be a good team, but not great. They are poorly coached in my opinion, so they'll never be too great with this guy. You don't have much to worry about I don't think.
  8. I know that the new coach up there, Josh Puckett, took this job just because of coach Finley. I know for a fact that Haywood County offered him 2,000 more dollars a year and it was about an hour closer to where he was from, but he agreed to go to Cheatham because of Finley. That says a lot about a coach. They may be short on talent and experience this year, but they won't be short on effort. Go Cubs!!!
  9. cubs will be young, but always well coached. I don't think they can even get close to challenging for the region, but they may slide into the playoffs in the four spot. Don't know though. Good luck to them and the staff at Cheatham County. Go Cubs!
  10. They better find someone who can run faster than 5 flat if they are gonna go 5-5. I want these guys to have a good season, really I do. But lets not jump on the bandwagon too fast. They have searched out the easiest schedule they can possibly have so its not like they are on the brink of being a contender.
  11. Greenfield and Fulton City Ky. At Greenfield
  12. I know they will be young, but do they have any playmakers coming back? Who's the best player?
  13. No, they don't beat Gleason and Greenfield in week 0 and 1. Last year they split with these two tiny single A teams. This year they'll split again. I think they'll beat Gleason, but I have my doubts about Greenfield this year! They have a long way to go. I thing they go 3-7.
  14. Because buddy. I don't know what sport you are watching but in football you really need speed to win. Union City will always have it, Lake County has a lot of it this year, and Mckenzie is like the rest of the schools around here...Too many white boys that aren't very fast. Don't get me wrong I think Mckenzie will eventually win this region in the next three years, but not this year. Not enough speed...OR HORSES how ever you want to say it!!!
  15. Ok thanks. I wish I knew what the problem was. Lance is a good guy, but sometimes he loses track of his priorities. He'll be ok though.
  16. What were some of the rumors about coach darnell? I went to college with him. I'd just like to know. What was the problem? Was it baseball or school related or something else?
  17. Who is the baseball coach there now and who was there last. Where did the other guy go? What was the reason? Any info. will help. Thank you.
  18. Do some players usually go both ways at a 3A school like Cheatham? I was wondering if it was only the best athletes, or if it was usual for 7 or so guys to go both ways? What about other 3A teams as well.
  19. Yes he will assist with football as well as be head baseball.
  20. The new Coach's name is Josh Puckett. He graduated from Tennessee Martin. He's coached football for two years at Greenfield. He was an all-state baseball and football player at Greenfield. I think he is a wonderful hire for Cheatham County. He turned down two other jobs for this spot, I know. Good luck coach Puckett and Cheatham!

  22. Does Cheatham County have good boosters and support from the community. Is the program short on money all the time, or does it get taken care of well. What about baseball team also?
  23. What is the Cheatham County fan support like? I don't know anything about the area. I've heard that for a 3A school they don't have big crowds at football games even when they are pretty good. I just wanted to know about that. What about booster clubs and stuff?
  24. Yes head baseball assistant football.
  25. I think a decision is going to be made in the next few days!
