Jax North Side played in one of the toughest Regions in the State, 7-AA. All four of the final teams have been ranked in the top 5 all year and when you add NS to the mix that makes for 5 teams. Obion, Milan, Westview, Dyersburg and then NS. So their level of competition has been very tough. If they continue to play as they have then they will be very tough to beat. They also have that very valuable weapon called State Tourney experience. This is their 4th straight appearance and the 6th in the last 7 years. They are also the State Runner-ups. They feel as though they have sometime to prove this year. Keep playing at your level and bring home that Gold ball this year. Good luck Lady Indians.

Region 7-AA is loaded with talent. Brittney Williams, Sophomore - Jackson Northside LaVanda Ross, Junior - Jackson Northside Amber Reichis, Freshman - Westview Jana Roney, Junior - Obion Central Chantel Poston, Junior - Milan Adrain Sanders, Freshman - USJ Forgive me if I omitted some, but this is one of the toughest Regions in the state and has got the talent to prove it. Please add to this list as their are many more from this Region. Good luck to Martin Westview and Jackson North Side in the Sub-state games on Saturday night. Go Lady Indians.

I know ya'll got a grant for alot of the things you are doing for your baseball program. Do you not have to share it with the softball. We had a player whose father died and his grandmother wanted to donate a "Large" amount to the baseball program, but we could not use it because of the Title 9 rule. If the girls program does not have whatever we were doing to do with the money then the boys cannot also. How have ya'll been able to get away with this rule.

Obviously you have not seen too many of the NS games. Delk is a great shot from the top of the key. But this should be a great game. Westview does have a very good team or they would not be in the Regional Championship, but then so does NS. Good luck Lady Indians.

Not sure where you got your information but Coach Lowery has been at this for longer than he probably would like to say. But never has he shown poor sportsmanship. And NEVER has he not shaken the other coaches hand win or lose. Don't comment on things you don't know for sure or are hear say. I know for sure what I am talking about. Coach Lowery is a Class Act and a Great Coach.

This is true. Hopefully it was an eye opener. The North Side players, coaches and fans also witnessed something that I have never seen or heard of in my MANY years of attending sporting events. The All-District teams where announced and when the MVP-Gwen Delk and the Coach of the Year-Farris Lowery were announced the majority of Fayette-Ware fans stood up and booed. What lack of class. North Side was undefeated in the District and up until last night had only 1 loss for the entire season. Both of them were very deserving of their awards. Giving credit were credit is due. Fayette Ware did play awesome last night and could possibly go far. But let them learn how to win and show some class in doing so.

That was cheap. She really looks up to her Father who is always in the stands. But she has NEVER not done what her coach has instructed her to do. Maybe you should see her in practice when there are no fans in the stands.

Also congratulations to Jenna Roney. This just goes to prove that Region 7-AA is one of the toughest Regions in the state, having two finalists from the same region. It is true that the other finalist is a Freshman from Smith Co. That may be a first, having a freshman selected as a finalist.

Congratulations to Gwen Delk for being selected as a Finalist for the Miss Basketball Award. Gwen Delk is a true champion. She has lived up to her namesake "Delk." We have had the privilege of watching a Delk play for several years at NorthSide. Her family will be greatly misssed. Gwen is a terrific young lady. We all wish her the best in her college endeavors. Congratulations Gwen. Let's make it a clean sweep and also get that GOLD ball this year. Go Lady Indians.

This is so true. Last night North Side had both Delk and Clifft on the bench with 4 fouls in the 3rd quarter. The bench came to the rescue.

Linda Gortney was actually my coach. And yes I do know my basketball. And maybe you should be a "Farris" come lately fan. His record speaks for itself. Every "real fan" loves to see the girls get the recognition they deserve and being ranked high is a great thing for the girls to see in the paper. You are right it does sell papers. The "LADY INDIANS" have a good team and time will tell how good they really are. Good luck to the North Side Lady Indians.

Jackson NorthSide hasn't been called the Maidens since the 70s. Try Lady Indians and they should be #1.

Hillcrest is not very good. They lost 4 starters from their State team. North Side beat them 72 - 34 without Gwen Delk who is sidelined with a hip injury.

Being a former teacher, many years ago at Moore Co, I can honestly speak of Coach John Tucker as I am now in West Tennessee. John Tucker retired from Football a few years ago, but he is one of the winningest coaches in the State. He took Milan to the playoffs and also won the state numerous times. I find it very hard to believe he would move from Milan, and also go back into coaching. But he would be a tremendous asset to the program. He is an "Ole School Football Coach."

The AA state runner ups are undefeated. But it is early.

The score between the Lady Indians and the Crusaders is incorrect. NS actually won 47-34. The score reported was for the boys game.

Dyersburg should be the team to beat, but Obion is also loaded. Really tough district. What is up with Holloway? She is an awesome player.
