  1. Bledsoe...when you can make the gramattical sentence structure of a five year old on a consistent basis, then I will want you to cheer for UT. As for the cheering for teams, when the Packers visit The Colesseum on Sept 1, I will probably be in the stands.....proudly wearing my Packers tee shirt, and quite possibly a cheesehead. The Titans are #2 in my book, but when the Pack was there in 01 I cheered for them, and I will do so this time. I've been a fan since Reggie signed there, and once I became old enough to understand the greatness of Lombardi.....the deal was signed for life. It's not about proximiety, but about a person's loyalties in his heart. I have no hockey allegiences. I figure a game or two and I will consider myself a Predators fan. And dandy....watch the St. Louis bashing.
  2. Actually they were in the NL West until the 3 division format began. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL_1990.shtml
  3. I was there that night at sat on the Huntingdon side. Rainy and cold, that is what I remember. When it hit 14-0 I looked at my buddy I was with and said something about UC might be hanging 50 on them that night. The huntingdon fan on the other side of me proceeded to chew me out and asked me if I just thought they were going to roll over and play dead. Now that wasn't you now was it.
  4. Has anyone else seen the episode of SNL making fun of Madonna for winning a Gloden Globe for Evita when she wasn't even nominated for the Oscar? Every time someone points out she wasn't nominated for an Oscar she alwasy rebutts with "But I won a Golden Globe!" Anyway, every time I read Gerry talking about the "13 straight division titles" I keep thinking about that scene. That is all.
  5. Should have researched that one more before I made the claim. I'll give you that. You keep the home run title, I'll keep the 9 Series titles. thumb
  6. Ok, I went through every year since the NL began is 1892 on www.baseball-reference.com and added up the cumulative total records of the Braves and Cards. The grand totals through the 2004 season are... St. Louis - 8896-8448 (.513 pct) Atlanta - 8447-8867 (.488 pct) (Please note that in the early years that rain-outs weren't made up as frequently as today unless to standings were riding on it - hence the discrepency in games played.) There. Since Atlanta fans are so hung-ho over the divisional titles, aka their regular season achievements, I thought I would point out that even then, they still trail the Cards in all time regular season wins. Congrats, win your division 20 more years in a row, and you might catch us in wins.
  7. I've actually got more in that department to enlighten all of you with when I get home from work today. I tried to post it last night, but it was late and my computer locked.
  8. Your right, we're not on your level, we're one above! Two of the original franchises, and we've got more of everything - rings, hall of famers, you name it, St. Louis has more! Well, expcept the fact you are in your third city and we're still in the original! thumb By the way Gerry, what year did you become a Braves fan? 91 or 92?
  9. They will never make it through Alcoa, sorry my friend.
  10. Walk into my office tomorrow morning and make that statement to the 4 die-hard Cubs fans that I work with. When he got traded to Detroit, every one of them were estatic. They could have gotten 5 drunken monkeys for him, and they would have been happy just to be rid of him. Just to compare............... Farnsworth: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pl...php?p=farnsky01 vs. our right handed set up man, Julian Tavarez: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pl...php?p=tavarju01
  11. The two teams use different philosophies on how to create their team. The Braves front office has done an excellent job of drafting and developing talent consistently over the past decade, and the Cards front office has thrived on making good late season deals for players and then locking them up for a long time. The Cards have also done an excellent job of acquiring great bench roll players. Mabry, Taguchi, Nunez, etc. It's all about philosophy of the front office, and both teams have excelled in their style. As for payroll........the Cards are at $92.1 million and the Braves are at $86.5 million. Both teams COULD spend more on payroll if they wanted, but both teams ownership have instituted a self-imposed cap that neither really wants to break.
  12. Well, I am going to try to make the Blues game on October. I always considered myself a Blues fan until the Preds came along (the word "fan" means that I would check the standings in the newspaper a couple of times a week to see where they were and then the Preds joined them in the category) so I figure that will be the next one to go to. The problem is that during the fall, all of their weekend games I would go to happen to coincide with a football team about 200 miles east of the GEC that is still my first love.
  13. I was actually a little disappointed over the lock-out last season because I was looking forward to going to a game or two after I moved to Nashville. I've been to a few minor league games in Knoxville and they were a blast. They say the NHL is a sport you won't even enjoy until you see a game in person, so I am going to give it a fair shot and make a few games this year. And I figure you are right, I will get hooked quite easily.
  14. Is there anything sweeter in baseball than the walk-off grand slam? thumb See you Braves in mid-October. We'll pick up and make it a best of 13 series for the season, whaddya say?
  15. What are the actual possibilties of them signing Lindross? I know very little about hockey, and even less about the Preds. Is there an actual chance this can happen?
  16. I dare say Fayette-Ware has had just as much talent as Memphis schools in recent years, just no legit coach to harness all of it. It's definitely going to make 6-3A more interesting. There's not going to be a dominant team is the region, but all seven are going to be fairly equal. No state title for FW, but they'll shake up the region and maybe ruin a Nashville area team's playoff hopes early.
  17. What time does is start?
  18. stangfan, Is that going to be the order of the games?
  19. Can someone please provide the schedule please?
  20. He's also a very fundamentally sounds tackeler as well. I bet high school coaches have used that replay to teach their players how to tackle.
  21. I thought the Cards had the unfair advantage with Mondesi in the lineup to begin with and we blew it. How in the world was he ever considered a legitimate MLB player anyway? That night was so funny because they guys I were with (both Braves fans) sat in right field and heckled him all night. When he hit the walk-off homer, they just sat there and started laughing. One of them said he was suprised he didn't miss a base when he was rounding them. What's he doing now anyway?
  22. Do what? Jocketty is considered to be one of the best GM in the game by many today. I am scared to death that when Cashman finally gets canned or tells The Boss what he can do with himself, that the Yanks are going to come calling. Have you not seen what we have been playing with? We're basically playing with Memphis plus Pujols, Grud, and Ecketein lately. And we just went 4-2 on a West Coast trip. Who's complaining? And believe me, the Cards teams from 85 and 87 can tell you all about injuries being part of the game.
  23. You have to change your screenname because assistant coaches from your town ask you why you said what you did...........
