  1. No players from Solomon's line yet. I will throw in some money to the QB Club though, will that help?
  2. What day does that service run? Just finished moving into the friendly confines over the weekend myself and have enough garbage to bring in a whole new load of players if needed.
  3. Been a Cardinals fan my whole life. Made 2 of the last 3 Word Series and have convinced my wife that if we have 2 sons that the second can have Musial in his name. Does that suffice?
  4. I will gladly put West TN humidity against any in the country. I've been to N'Awlins, Houston, all of them, and West TN has stacked up with the best of them.
  5. Eh, just call em what we do, drunken morons.
  6. Well, we got moved this weekend. Now just to unload all the boxes and fix up the old house for sale, which we have determined is going to take more work than we previously thought............
  7. I didn't think it was that hot, but a couple of the other chaperones (not kids) were complaining about the heat. I told them that if they thought it was hot there, that next summer we should take a trip to west TN to help build a church. Heat plus the 99.8% humidity. Now just to get your butt in a church pew on a regular basis.
  8. He's probably still sulking that Live Earth was one huge ratings disaster. Also, only because I was curious to see what entertainers were performing Saturday, I went to liveearth.com and quickly noticed that it was much easier to buy stuff than it was to find any information about the event or global warming in general.
  9. I refrain from making any comments until I see the O-line in action. If UT can manage to run for 175+ a game, then 10+ wins is not only possible but probable. If the line doesn't improve any over last season, then 6-6 is also a possibility. The defense is going to be pretty dang good and the juco receivers have the ability to be playmakers, it's just if Trooper can have them SEC game ready by Sept 15. I think another pro for them this year is also the lack of hype. I mean, even in Knoxville all anyone can talk about it UT basketball right now. These are they years they always seem to step up and do more than the experts predict. (See 95, 98, 01, and 04 as examples.) But, it all comes back to the O-line. If they are capable to take over a game, UT can be a very good team because all of the other pieces are in place for it to happen.
  10. We had a great time. I got to experience everything from dining at the house of one of Mexico's senators to handing out food to people who live in a dump....literally. The missionaries we worked with have hearts of pure gold (as well as some pretty cool cars).
  11. Returning from leading a high school mission trip and seeing that more of the kids are starting to get it. Seeing 3 people accept Christ as a result of your work (making the 250 mosquito bites worth it). My nice, soft matress. Air conditioning. Realizing that as angry as I get sometimes, the ol' US of A is still the best country on earth. 50 high school kids, 3 other adults, and yourself partaking in a hugh mud pit fight. After a week of riding around in a Mexican van, getting to drive a fully-loaded Navigator around for a day.
  12. Being bitten by mosquitos approximately 250 times over the past 6 days.
  13. That is all I am trying to say. Whether steroids were involved or not are of little concern to me. The guy killed his wife and kid. Period. But the major story in this has become the steroids angle which is based on a lot of speculation and not much fact.
  14. Sounds like a merit plan to me. I've said my idea before, but here it is again in brief summary. 4 classes, name them however you like. For sake here I will call them A, B, C, and D with A being strongest and D being weakest. At the beginning of a 4 year cycle have a school decide which division they will play, and each school must be approved to play at that level by a board that uses a computer ranking as well as human element. Put cutoffs in place where a 1200 person school cannot play any lower than division B if you will for fairness. In a new twist, using I believe coach15s idea of requiring all privates to play class C and up after their first 4 years with a football program. In the regular season play whoever you like regardless of classification. Bring back the old regional conferences. Assign a points system based on W/L, SOS (classification of opponents), margin of victory (to a point), etc. Set it up to where a class A team going 7-3 against all A and B level competition would be ranked righer than a class A team going 10-0 agains B through D level competition. Week 0 or 1 would be a preseason kickoff game much like the HOF games in bball for old non-profits to use as a moneymaker as they did the bowls, but would not towards the computer rankings. TSSAA can get their cut of the profits, and you can use this as a way to have some local rivalries be played without hurting SOS, or allow great inner-state grand division games to be played. Then have your 10 regular season games. Preseason games are not required, but give a $$$ incentive for teams to participate. 16 teams in each class make the playoffs and brackets are set up based on computer ranking and location of teams. (For example - Cloudland and Lake Co - I cannot think of two schools it would take longer to get to from each other, 9 hours minimum - would not play each other until the finals even if 1 was ranked 1 and the other 16). I think this would work. The only question is who should play in what division and who should approve it. All things considered, I don't know if it would be a lot different than how teams are alligned today. I think this allows teams at the same perceived skill level play each other, regardless of public, private, open or closed zone, etc. And the A division would be some GREAT November football games.
  15. The only problem I have with that statement in this situation is that we have bought into ESPN's reporting that it was a matter of a fact roid rage. We don't know. All we know is that he killed his family, anabolic steroids were in his house at the time that seem to have been prescribed by a doctor, and that at one time he used steroids illegeally. Too many people have bought into the ESPN steroid hype. It may very well be that. But, it may have been something much simpler or something much deeper. We flat out don't and possibly won't know.
  16. Just curious on what you would do with the family in this article if you had the power. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287043,00.html
  17. We're just going with the off-white/khkai/whatever-color-it-is. Eventually we may redo it, but we're just going with that now. I really don't care about the inside except for the room that will be "my room." I'm much more concerned about the outside and the yard. What is going to be our headache is we still have her little starter house that she got to establish in-state residency in college. We've got a lot of work to do to it to have it ready to sell before we can put it on the market.
  18. Champaign, University of Illinois. But, from the home front, the wife tells me that all is going well unpacking. More importantly - our yard is starting to show signs of improvement from the constant watering all weekend. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. As long as you admit that, then I am ok with the rest. I do think it is going to be hard this year to get there. But, we will see.
  20. FTT - Just out of curosity, but who pulled the trigger to draft him? Fisher, Reese, or Adams?
  21. Wish I knew. Currently in Illinois for a week for a continuing education thing for work. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  22. Very true, but what happens if they go on with the show Monday as planned, especially since it was going to be a "Memorial Service" to McMahon in his "death" and it turns out differently? Then the criticism is just the opposite. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm sure a decision had to be made quickly. Given all of what was known at the time and probably the time frame of a decision having to be made of what to air that night, I would say 99% of us would have made this decision as well. Not necessarily praising the move, but I'm not going to throw him to the wolves over his situation either.
  23. 5 years after the team the rally was supposed to help left, yes, they did. Mainly due to the NFL not wanting to have an odd number of teams because of the embarassment they suffered when the Browns hopped ship for Baltimore and giving a team to Cleveland 3 years earlier. That, plus LA was not viable. Given the current state of the NHL, I don't think the same scnerio will apply.
  24. Except as far as I know the cause of death was not known when they ran it last night.
  25. I remember laughing at fans in Houston about 10 years ago when they did something like this to keep the Oilers in town.......
