  1. Where' the love for the long snapper man? It all starts with him. If the snap is slow or off, the holder and kicker are screwed. Linemen never get respect.
  2. I know they are 6-0, but is CC as good as they have been in years past? It seems like they are relying a lot more on on defense this year and not scoring as many points. Lexington will have to fix the defense, it seems to found a leak last week. Could be a great one.
  3. Evans has verbally committed to State. Here is today's artcle in The Jackson Sun. http://miva.jacksonsun.com/miva/cgi-bin/mi...200410056563532
  4. I love how one of the JMC school board members finally threw in the race card this morning. I was waiting for that to happen. And JCM in a landslide BTW. I'm looking towards a JCM/Maryville meeting in the Boro.
  5. Well, we're all proven wrong. The biggest idiots in public education don't reside on the Cheatam Co. school board, but in Tacoma, Washington. You are off the hook for now Mr. Stuart, but I am willing to say you willwork hard to regain your title. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...he_me/no_recess Good luck at the meeting Monday night! Let them play! Let them play! Let them play!
  6. I agree completely about punishing anybody who goes over the top in heckling. Some good natured fun is all right as long as they keep it in check. One of my favorite memories is a couple of high school rookie hecklers sitting in front of me, my dad, and others at a bball game and trying to do their best to get on our nerves. We took a lead and they got up to leave and my dad asked them where they were going and told them to stay and take what they dished out. It doesn't come through on here, but it was a priceless night. It was always fun to see your dad turn into a 16 year old breaking in the new guys. However, I hope that ALL high schools punish kids who go over the top with it, especially adults w/ kids present. On a side note, does anybody know anything about the religious/faith side of Coach Fisher? He seemed to handle this situation with the utmost class as he always does, and his kids go to CPA so I was juts curious.
  7. Thanks to all. They shouldn't have done it, and applauds to Coach Fisher for the way it seems he handled it. However, blacksheep is right. If it wasn't someone famous, nothing would have happened. That is what irritates me about this.
  8. They were suspending for heckling? Please someone that knows more facts please give them.
  9. Who's being sarcastic? I do what I can, I do what I can.
  10. If you move these games to the end of the season, then you would have to reschedule the state championship games at Vandy and MTSU. While I am sure that MTSU in December would not be a problem, Vandy in late November could have a conflict. And don't say move them elsewhere, unfortunately contracts between parties wouldn't allow that. Besides, West TN doesn't look like they are going to get too much out of this. I see your point, but it isn't plausable. The TSSAA may be powerful, but not powerful enough to get a stadium anytime they need it like the NFL.
  11. If it was gang related, I wouldn't jump in either, nor would any of you. All I am saying is that everyone here says the kids who stood by should be thrown in jail, and that is wrong.
  12. From everything I have read, it was a fight. How many of us stood around and watched a fight in middle school and didn't break it up? I'm not saying that these kids were innocent, but don't bash the kids watching until all the facts are known. If it was a fight gone bad, then probably everyone of us reading this could be faced with the same situation.
  13. It hit me like lightning last night! Ok, we take all the teams, divide them up large and small. 160 in each. Let them form their own conferences, and determine a conference winner. Then....we let media hype and tradition tell us who the 4 or 5 best conference are, give them automatic access into the "BlueCross Series" (BCS) of 5 games throughout the state, then make the smaller, mostly rural small town conferences have to gain an at large bid which will be hard because if you can't average 10,000 fans to travel with you then no matter how good you are then you won't be selected. If you don't make it into the BCS, we can still offer the smaller bowls around the state that arent' as prestegious but still a post season game. If we have 160 teams in each division, we'll need at LEAST 40 bowl games in each classification. Oh it gets ever better! We can use a formula that takes the AP poll, and a few of the computer polls to help determine the #1 and 2 teams in the state and they can play for the state title in either large or small categories? The game can rotate among the 5 BCS sites over a 5 year period? Liberty Bowl, Adelphia, MTSU, Neyland, and UT-Chat. Man, I think this is a winner! Think about it, it makes so much more sense than a playoff! Every game will matter in this format, instead of those pesky 3-7, 2-8, 1-9 teams making the playoffs! Man, somebody should jump on this quick! Call Ronnie!
  14. I will save the wrath on the Bush basher since my fellow posters have taken care of it, but I will offer an example of unnecessary costs in administration that seem to be the focal point of this. A few years ago at a little college in eastern TN that will be referred to as "UT" there was a crisis because the professors salaries were lagging way behind those of peer institution accross the southeast. So I, alone with a few other students who wanted to make a difference, hopped on a bus (paid for by money made from the 98 nationala title) on several occasions to drive to Nashville to lobby legislators for more funding for UT for the professors. I was still a young'un at this point and didn't fully understand, but one of the state senators said "when UT uses the money they already get, we will give them more." That made little sense to me. Now, let us flash forward to President John "Schuie" Shumaker. What is the first thing he does (besides a trip to Alabama)? He INCREASES the amout of administration in the UT system. All the work for nothing. This is an example of wasteful spending, the same problem that I would be willing to bet is going on the Cheatam Co. as well. It stinks because not are only athletic going to be cut, but I'd be willing to bet the arts, and extra for classrooms will be cut as well. There is so much administration and bureaucracy now in schools, it KILLS the actualy education part. (I could go on a complete tirade of the need of federal govt, Democrats and Republicans, to stay out of education, but I will pass.)
  15. If you broke it up like that, you could offer 7 or 8 man football to any 1A school.
  16. Ok, here goes........... 1. Combine them all into one. Use whatever multiplier you would like for the private schools, but 1 division. 2. There are roughly 325 schools in the TSSAA that play football. Divide these schools into 4 classes with roughly 80 each. 3. One of two things here. You could go with either 16 districts with approximately 5 teams each or 8 regions with appromimately 10 teams. If you do the districts, then take the top 2 from each district. If you do the region, then take the top 4 from each region. There could even be a regional divisions where you play all the teams in your division, and maybe maximum 8 regional games. 4. Keep the standard 32 team playoff as is in each of the 4 classifications. Just my dream world.
  17. This would be 82 in 1A, 102 in 2A, 75 in 3A, and 25 in 4A. Plus, the extra two weeks for the "super champion" are pointless. It's just killing the smaller schools basketball programs. My thoughts in a bit.....
  18. H-town passed last week with flying colors. I'm not convinced they are as good as they were last year, but goodenough to win this one by 20. People say Camden may give them all they want though. A female kicker? Really?

Is JCM really that good this year?
  20. WHEN ARE THE NEXT ROUND OF SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS IN CHEATAM COUNTY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  21. Huntingdon has a great little concession set up. How many people work that thing anyway? As for bands, I quit caring when my junior year one of the band parents who was substitute teaching that day said, and I quote, "The only reason people come to football games is to watch the band." Did you know it is possible for more than one person to fall out of their chair laughing at the same time? I'm a fan of the bands who follow the traditions of TSU, Grambling, Southern, etc. I'd rather be entertained than listen to kids play classical music walking around making geometric figures. Has anyone heard of a school band at any level doing a Johnny Cash tribute this year? If so, I am there.
  22. Three main reasons for me: 1. Less travel for district/region games for many teams. 2. Playoffs would be tougher to get into. Right now, in a 5 team region, a 1-9 team can realistically make the playoffs (I can think of 2 instances). Playoff births would be an accomplishment to get. 3. More even distribution of teams in regions. There would be no more of this 5 teams in one region, 10 in another. Personally, I am an advocate of a 4 division format, with public and private schools together with a multiplier.
  23. No one has answered my questions though. 1) Can these board members be recalled? 2) If not, when are the next elections for school board in Cheatem Co.?
  24. I just read on tennessean.com that the walkout is expected today. The county commission is also vetoing any budget sent to them without athletics funding. The students may also hold a walkout today to show the support of the coaches. And all because of a bunch of crooked school board members. This Stuart guy sounds like an A+ "rear end." Gerry, I understand your point. And if you keep that same attitude you will be an excellent coach one day. However, I wish that is all there was to it. Sometimes you've got to take a stand. Don't blame the coaches in this situation. I'm sure none of them slept last night and hurt worse than anyone else involved with this whole mess. But if they don't stand up now, then they will continue to just be walked over time and time again by the idiots in charge. Let us hope that something happens soon so these boys can all play Friday night!
