  1. You never know it happens sometimes. I remember back in either 2011 or 2012 a 0-9 Lebanon team knocked Hendersonville out of the playoffs in the final game of the season. And Hendersonville had just lost 3 in a row to Mt. Juliet, Beech and Gallatin by like a combined 12 points. And nobody should just assume that Lebanon is gonna beat Rossview. They are more than capable of pulling the upset.
  2. I don't know about 8K but I do remember several with 6K+ back in the late 90s they had some big games. I believe it was BGA one year where the practice field had several news helicopters in it for the game.
  3. I doubt it. In order for that to happen Hendersonville has to beat Mt. Juliet and I don't see that happening. Because if Hendersonville loses they will likely be in a 3-way tie with Wilson Central and Lebanon. And Wilson Central will have the tiebreaker of those 3 with a better record. Then Lebanon has the head-to-head over Hendersonville. Here is what needs to happen and pretty much every spot is still in play. Mt. Juliet plays Hendersonsville, Wilson Central plays Station Camp and Rossview plays Lebanon. As it stands right now you have Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville, Wilson Central and Lebanon in that order. With the first 3 teams already in the playoffs and Lebanon/Rossview for a final playoff spot next week. If Mt. Juliet wins they will be the 1 seed. If they lose they will be the 2 seed. If Hendersonville wins they will be the 1 seed. If they lose they will be either the 3 or 4 depending on whether or not Lebanon beats Rossview. Wilson Central will beat Station Camp. They will get either the 2 or 3 seed depending on the game above. If Lebanon wins will either be the 3 or 4 depending on the Mt. Juliet/Hendersonville game. If Rossview wins they will be the 4 seed.
  4. Nothing is set for Region 4 as far as playoffs except for Station Camp being out. It will all depend on next week. Mt. Juliet plays Hendersonsville, Wilson Central plays Station Camp and Rossview plays Lebanon. As it stands right now you have Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville, Wilson Central and Lebanon in that order. However that will change next week due to the matchups.
  5. heck there are regions that only have 4 teams so everybody gets even if they go 0-10.
  6. I agree. Just saying that people shouldn't be assuming that Westmoreland is now automatically gonna be the 4 seed. I don't think that Westmoreland has shown that they are that much better than Cascade to allow that.
  7. Looking at like opponents it may not be a guarantee that they go to Chat town.... They still have Cascade who beat Jackson County, played East Robertson & H20 closer and had about the same score against TC.
  8. They have 4 common opponents in Station Camp, Lebanon, Hendersonville and Hillsboro. Station Camp is a 0-10 football team and both teams won by 45-50 points. But in the other 3 games Gallatin outscored their opponents by 75 points. In those same 3 games Beech outscored their opponents by 34. "This is a rivalry game throw the records out the window" yeah we heard that when Gallatin played Station Camp and Hendersonville too.... Having seen them both in person I feel that Gallatin is the better team. Gallatin 28 Beech 14
  9. Yeah the scoring was the surprise in my opinion as well.
  10. Gallatin has allowed 21 points in 7 games. And 14 of those were against Hillsboro. They have 5 shutouts. Gallatin 21 Hendersonville 7
  11. This doesn't look good for the future of that program.
  12. Its worse because those kids had to know it likely would lead to a forfeit because they don't have enough players. Its one thing to skip a game and abandon your team. Its another to skip a game knowing that it means they won't even be able to field a team.
  13. I mentioned him to Lebanon when they were looking for a HC but they got a good one in Chuck Gentry. I felt like TC should have offered him the job but they weren't looking for a long-term HC they were just looking for somebody to be here a few years until Satterfield was ready to take over.
  14. Lots of places do it. Trousdale County started doing it this year. Kids can pay and come from out of county. Its kind of like an arms race between countries. You may not want to do it or be doing it but if your opponent is doing it then they have to in order to keep up.
  15. I done a story about it for Yahoo around that time. They had losing streaks of 69 and 61 games that were only broken up by a handful of wins. But yeah they had a decent run with Kyle Shoulders as the HC. They had a 3-year stretch where they went something like 4-6, 6-5 and 4-6. That year they made the playoffs they lost to Gordy like 28-35 and scored 28 on TC which is unheard of in both of those matchups.
  16. With the way the numbers are looking we will be back in that region in 1A here in a few years when they redo classes. I can understand and sympathize for not having enough numbers. I know its tough at that program. That school has about 200 kids but is also grades 6-12. So in reality most likely they only have about 120 kids 9-12. Then consider that about half of those are girls. So you are talking about a school that probably has 60 or so boys in 9-12. But when you have kids leave town to go on vacation rather than show up for a football game knowing that its likely gonna result in a forfeit.... I have no words. They need to do the right thing and scrap that program and let the kids that want to play do so with Macon County. Who also have a numbers issue considering they are a 4A school.
  17. They went like 5 or 6 years ago when Shoulders was the HC. They went like 6-5 that year. But to my knowledge that is the only winning season they have ever had at that program.
  18. Could be.... But you don't see players coming off the field left and right due to cold.
  19. Just looking at some of the top teams in 6A last year. Oakland lost during the season to Maryville 24-21. They played again in the playoffs and Oakland won 38-0. Whitehaven lost to Germantown during the season 37-19. They played again in the playoffs and Whitehaven won 14-0. Ravenwood lost to Brentwood 31-28 during the season. They played again in the playoffs and Ravenwood won 47-24. There were plenty of odds scores in the first couple weeks. There always are as teams are still coming together and the heat is often a factor.
  20. Having seen both teams against Lebanon I think that Gallatin and Beech should be a good game.
  21. Better not overlook Glencliff in that final game.
  22. Yeah that isn't happening in the cases I know of personally.
  23. I wouldn't have a problem with the that transfer policy he stated above in cases where the kids didn't move and are just opting to play out of zone. Something that is increasingly happening across the state.
  24. I've heard that is a big issue at Overton as well. Probably not. You have to consider that they lost to 1A Republic last year 34-11 and that team went 5-6 losing to teams like Clay County, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns and Monterey. I know a kid that got held back in 8th grade a few years ago because his parents felt he was being bullied because he was too short. Mom and Dad are both 5'3-5'5....
  25. There are many variables that go into it that is for sure. There are many reasons that are demographic and really they can't be controlled by the schools. I read an article not long ago talking about how income makes a big difference in high school sports. They said that in studies they shown that in high school football the teams that were from areas with above average income won almost 90% of the time against teams that were from below average income areas. For a multitude of reasons including funding, equipment, facilities, parental involvement etc. Then you have the makeup of the community. Is your area a place where people own or do they rent? In areas where you have more people renting it is often reflected in their sports programs. Because kids are coming and going and not building any attachments to the area.
