  1. Congrats to Coach Moreno. I wish you well. I am sure Coach Clay will come with him. Maybe Coach K can be convinced to stay. Apparently, the job was turned down by the outsider. Now tell me why the guy has to find out he is a head coach from his new PTSO instead of his new principal.
  2. Wilson Central High School will be hosting its 4th Annual Boys Basketball Team Camp (June 11 - 13). The camp consists of various levels of competition from all classifications A - AAA as well as Division 2 that plays on the varsity, junior varsity, & freshmen levels. Varsity teams will be guaranteed "9" games for the cost of $350 as to JV & Freshmen teams are guaranteed "6" games for the cost of $240 per team. We use certified TSSAA officials for all games. There is "NO" individual player fee. Additional games can be scheduled upon request. There is also a coaches' hospitality room provided throughout the day for all coaches. We would love to have you & your teams participate in camp this summer. I have attached the forms needed for signing up with this email. For more info contact Troy Bond, bondt@wcschools.com or (615) 453-4656. Troy is still the coach at Wilson Central and he has no idea where the rumors have come from.
  3. Troy Bond is not going anywhere. I received an email from him yesterday confirming that he was not leaving and again today asking me to pass it along to CoachT members and nonmembers. In fact I am also posting info on his camp.
  4. What happened to Coach Turner?
  5. I have attending the state for nearly 30 years. I believe the best single A team has to be one of those awsome Bolton teams or the 37 and 0 UnionCity team. You guys have named a lot of good teams and a lot of good players. The Carlos Groves teams for East Robertson were a given for me. I expected them to win the state and they did not disappoint. I don't think they get close to the other teams that I named. That clears me of a biased opinion. A lot of memories on this thread.
  6. I saw the Humbolt game and Buckner got popped in the back by one of the guards from Humbolt. At center court during a dead ball, he reached out and shoved the guard in the face in retaliation. There was an official standing ten feet behind them. He must have been daydreaming about his paycheck. I feel certain that crew was well informed after the game about their lack of attention to what was going on. I would imagine that each crew after that was put on alert. Buckner is a baby in a man's body. He does need to grow up. He may need to worry about SEC officials. He definitely needs to worry about SEC players that don't care who he is. They will hurt him. My gut feeling is that he was protected in high school because everyone new who he was. Those days are over.
  7. How much handling do you have to do to guard a 6'9 guy that stands out at half court most of the time? I just don't get that.
  8. Congratulations to Coach Smith and the kids from Clarksville Academy on a great year! Sorry to see a great year come to an end, but you guys have a lot to be proud of.
  9. I have been fortunate to know Coach King for the majority of his head coaching career. He has had many great teams and many great players. Everything has been done with class. He will be sorely missed by all. Good luck to coach King and to Oakland in the future.
  10. My wife taught a lot of these girls at Head. We sat there watching the game and rooting for them. When Pace took that last shot, it seemed like the ball was up on the rim for a lifetime. When it finally dropped, we both screamed and scared the crap out of my daughter who was sitting in my lap. I had a lot of explaining to do. They could have easily lost when that press took its toll late but I believe thge best team won. Great job Lady Burros! Way to bring a title back to Metro Nahville. Great game and effort by Memphis Central.
  11. East Literature still has openings for their holiday basketball classic on Dec. 29 & 30. This is a boys and girls classic. If any school is interested, contact Jim Fey for further information at james.fey@mnps.org or 615-262-6947 ext. 1113.
  12. The match-ups were the problem for CPA. The defensive strength for CPA is playing zone which allows Z to stand in the paint and clean up mistakes. The Offensive strength of MC is shooting the 3. Those two things spelled doom for CPA. MC's biggest player is their PG (Johnson). Are you going to guard him with a statue? Z was CPA's best offensive weapon, are you going to take hime out for a better defensive matchup? CPA had a good year. Nothing to hang their heads about. Not what they had hoped for. I really don't think they could have done anything to change the outcome.
  13. BigPoppa, give me a call. I couldn't make it to the game but you must have had your guys ready. I was hurtin for you.
  14. Congratulations, BigPoppa!
  15. Pin, my comments were not directed at you. They were a generalization pointed directly at otis. If I have offended you indirectly I apologize. If my generalizations actually struck a nerve, well then you might need to rethink being offended by me and take care of yourself because, like the saying, the truth hurts. I sincerely wish you and your son the best. Also, I am not hiding behind a made up screen name.
  16. Otis, 110 Gallatin Road. Whose your daddy?
  17. Otis, what's your problem? Are you one of those parents that want everyone else to pay for wrestling matches but whine like a little pig when you're asked to anti up? Or, are you one of the losers in the world that make excuses and cry "we got cheated"? Whatever the case you are way out of bounds. Last time I checked this was the region 7 wrestling tournament not the East Lit Invitational. Oh, it might seem like it since your kid and his teammates spend so much time on their backs at the hands of the East Lit wrestlers, but hey, you should be used to it by now. The officials are not assigned by East Lit. They are randomly selected the arbiter which is an assigning program adopted by the state. I know it would be easier for someone with that loser's mentality to believe otherwise, but hey, it is what it is. When Coach Whittaker (please learn to spell when you want to rip someone) started the program, he did so at the request of one athlete, Antonio Boyd. Through his hard work, Coach Whittaker has excelled at coaching wrestling, taking East Lit from not having a program to being one of the most respected programs in the state. The East Lit kids are offered one thing. The opportunity to be successful by working hard. You might not be familiar with this phrase. You get out, what you put in. I recommend to you an extra diet of hard work but leave the whine alone. You have officially embarrassed yourself.

I'll give everyone something to comment on. We just finished up with MLK. They kicked our butts tonight. Now we have played everyone in the district. I believe that Antoine Christian is the best pure basketball player in our district. Mason is the toughest matchup and Miller is a tremendous shooter. What do all of you guys think?
  19. PHargis, our crowds are reasonable. They tend to vary depending on the night and the team we play. Overall, we are way ahead of where we were when I came to East Lit. The coaching has proven to be solid in our present district, both boys and girls. I believe the future will hold some new and exciting rivalries that will also boost attendance. I have always said that the toughest district to play in is the one you're in right now. Next year will be no exception.
  20. CPA David Lipscomb East Lit Hume Fogg MLK Maplewood Pearl Cohn Stratford Whites Creek
  21. I could tell you more about the lower half of these teams next year since they will be dropping down to double A and will be in our district. How many of you think there is some correlation to these schools sizes and there success?
  22. Just pointing out a fact that they have Pack who is arguably the best girls coach in the state. David Pack is a good coach but to throw him in an argument with the states best girls coaches? He won a state championship in the play for pay league over what, 10 schools? C'mon!
  23. I saw Johnny Lynn Saturday and I couldn't remember if he was still the county's all time scoring leader. I would think that John Jenkins would have to be all over that record. I remember Jo Jo Dabbs being up there and I would think that Corey Brewer would be in the conversation. Can anybody shed some light?
  24. Crowder left Antioch two years ago. He is coaching in Florida now.
