  1. As a fan of high school football and tradition, I really hope that Marion will get back to the point of the mid 90's. I was in high school around that time and remember the Marion / Tyner matchups and how we were just hoping to hang in the game with them.
  2. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I totally agree with you here. Other than the Boyd game and hopefully paying them back this year, there is no doubt the Rams want to win this game really bad.
  3. I will agree with the fact that East Ridge 3A should not lose to 1A Lookout Valley. However we are talking about big bad 1A powerhouse 3rd ranked in the state Speed Pittsburg playing at home, finally getting the big game against a 2A school they have been craving for.....how can they have nothing to lose.... A question for everyone with this nothing to lose attitude....if Tyner wins...does that mean they should have won since they are a 2A school? The majority of the people posting are saying that South Pitt has a better team than Tyner anyway, so would that not mean they should win regardless of 1A or 2A?
  4. Like I said before, we can agree to disagree. I wish Marion luck the rest of the way because I believe they will have problems with both Sequatchie and Bledsoe. I am not going to sit here and say that Tyner has a great secondary, because it is obvious there are holes in it, but they have a good enough defense to win Friday night. I just think it is funny that Friday nights game in my mind was completely one sided and in your eyes it wasnt. But like I said we can agree to disagree and move on to South Pitt. Tyner has faced Brainerd who is without a doubt faster than South Pitt. South Pitt is a fast team and may be faster than Tyner. Tyner had issues with Brainerd due to poor tackling and miss assignments which will not only get you beat, but get you blown out against fast teams. Fulton was a big and fast team. Tyner should have had that game won, but let it slip away. Tyner will not come into this game surprised by either size or speed, this is going to be the 3rd best team we have played out of 5 games so far this season. And for South Pitt, this is going to be the best team they have seen thus far (IN MY OPINION). It should be a very tough game for both teams. Like many other high school games, it will come down to tackling and turnovers. That said, South Pitt should be favored since they are at home.
  5. I will be more than happy to take our "slow" DB's any day of the week. I dont think they played that bad of a game last night. To hold a Marion team to 6 points that most Marion fans thought were going to score 30+, I think they did ok. The whole Single A vs Double A team argument is weak for the sole purpose of South Pitt is one of the premier teams in Single A. I will compare it too Tyner AA vs Brainerd AAAA. Although it has not happened in the past 3 years, that is a game Tyner is suppose to win. Each of the past 3 years when Tyner has lost it has been much more of a "The Ram Train went down", instead of a AAAA Brainerd beat AA Tyner. Most people are predicting South Pitt to win, and like I said they should be favored since the game is at home. I know how good South Pitt is and yes they could beat us by 14 and should have a home field advantage. Tyner is very talented but is not in the top 5 to 10 AA teams in the state at this point. So to say South Pitt is the only team that has nothing to lose is wrong in my eyes. I will be extremely surprised if Tyner comes out of South Pitt with a win.
  6. Congrats to Brainerd on a big win. It does not ease the pain of our lose to them, but still very impressive. I cant wait for the Brainerd > Red Bank game.
  7. I will agree to disagree with you on several points. 1. "Tyner's DB were toasted all night"....well on the touchdown play yes, there was not another play were a pass was within 5 yards of a reciever, true it could be because of the QB not having time, but how would you know they were toast if no other deep balls were caught? There were several catches over the middle, but to say the DB's were toast all night is a little far fetched.... 2. Tyner has many many more weapons than #28. I can assure you that SPitt will have more trouble than just 1 running back. Given that... South Pittsburg is going to be tough, the coaches know that and the players know that. I would say that South Pitt should be favored coming into this game for the mere fact that it is a home game for them. I dont think that South Pitt is the only team that can play like they have nothing to lose. This is an out of region game, against a team that is very talented. The talent is about the same for both teams, both teams have speed and big play ability. This game is just going to come down to turnovers and who can limit the big plays.
  8. Tyner wins 35-12. Marion scored with 5:20 left in the 4th on a long pass play, then scored with 3:11 on a blocked punt. Marion had 2 blocked punts on the night and a long kickoff return to the 7. Tyner had several running backs with a great night. The Tyner defense played great and the offense played very well considering they started with bad field position most of the night. Tyner led 28-0 at half, not much of a game really. Tyner scored in the 3rd quarter to go up 35-0. Marion played very tough, but the Rams speed and big play potential seemed to do them in. Tyner had 1 interception on the night. Good luck the rest of the way to Marion, and the Ram Train rolls on to South Pittsburg.
  9. I will be shocked if Tyner only scores 21 points....I can't wait for Friday night....should be fun!
  10. I will be more than happy to make a prediction....Tyner will have BIG plays and they will result in a BIG win!
  11. I expect several things to be worked out in practice this week....I think Tyner will be extremely sharp Friday night in Bledsoe and for them to look like a different team. Tyner by 3....touchdowns.
  12. Good luck to Boyd and I know all of the Tyner fans are hoping the best for Nic Hughes. When a player is injured it makes you realize it is just kids playing a game. Our prayers are no doubt with him and his family.
  13. I am going to say Boyd by 14, I am expecting a huge year out of Nic Hughes.
  14. I will go with Howard in this game by 12. This is a good game to start the year off with.
  15. David Brainerd was the most exciting team of the night to watch.
  16. My favorite for several reasons in Remember the Titans A football player who graduated with me in 1999 from Tyner, Arron Ellison, was a cast member in the movie. He played one of the players in the movie, he had one line in the movie. During the game when "Sunshine" the QB told the line to let the guy through the line and he up-ended him he said....."That is one crazy white boy."

  18. Several questions for every team this year. Still looks like a Boyd/ Tyner region winner to me, not sure who that will be yet.
  19. Without a doubt this will help a team, given no serious injuries of course. Tyner has played McCallie yearly, and has played Fulton the last couple of years. Those games always seem to bring out the best in the players, and show them the level they need to play at. I still think there are lessons to be learned from every game no matter what the level of competition is. Alcoa will have talent, it is just making sure that talent is playing together when the playoffs roll around.
  20. I am trying to contain my preseason surge of overrating our team. Every year I get all jacked up on Mountain Dew and start thinking about how great we will be or can be, so I am taking it slow. Give it time, by the time we play SP, I am sure I will be typing with much more confidence about the Ram Train.
  21. I agree with this, however it is only mid July and I am not sure what each team is bringing to the table this year. Very strange year for all of the teams in the region, (mostly because each team lost key players). I think each team has clear weaknesses that need to be addressed, but that is what makes it fun.
  22. Everyone I have talked to is very excited about it, we have been waiting several years for this game. I would expect a very large Tyner crowd to show up. We still have a ton of question marks to fill in this year as far as our team goes, so to say what type of team we are bringing down there is tough at this point. Regardless I will assume it will be entertaining and fast paced.
