  1. Questions to answer that: Does Macon have other reliable scoring other than Carter and Gregory??? Can Macon rebound well enough?? Can Macon turn Westview over?? Can Macon run off Westviews shooters and make them have to restart the offense???
  2. This region is gonna come down to South Side and South Gibson..........everybody else has 3-4 major flaws. North Side isn't good enough, ancient offense, coach who doesn't care, and players who have low B-BALL IQ. Dyersburg is wildly inconsistent, one very good player and not much else, defensive effort lacks at times Crockett is offensively challenged, turnover prone, and not much in the interior.
  3. A-Moore-McNeil, Darby, Weathers AA-Carter, Wade-Warren, Rutherford AAA-M.Hayes, A.Hayes, D.Wells D2-A-M. Lee, E. Jones, L. Jones D2-AA- Waggoner, Wynn, Brown
  4. Greenfield obviously and then the second team.......I'm not sure. GC is gonna have a TOUGH first region game against either Gleason OR Dresden. UC is gonna have to navigate tough waters early too
  5. Anyone who follows the high school scene, myself and @GCPioneer and others, have said she is holding out for ONE SEC school........and the mid-majors have been turned down.
  6. Right now today, I'm taking Westview and Dyersburg. Covington is next in line. McNairy would have a shot too, but everything will have to break right.
  7. Some pretty big games tonight: Dyersburg at Westview (first place in 13-AA) TCA at USJ (first place in their region) Gibson County at Peabody (first place in 14-A) Who wins and why????
  8. I went to see Covington and Fayette-Ware last night and it was worth the admission price. Covington is the second best AA in West TN, behind South Side, and I think they would have a real shot of beating South Side. Very athletic basketball team, with all 5 starters who could probably win the long jump in track. They are that good. Fayette-Ware is really good too, and what hurt them last night is Covington crashing the glass hard and a few bad turnovers. But I think both will be in the 15-AA title game and if they can solve Wooddale should have a shot to go to Murfreesboro.
  9. McKenzie is the REAL deal!!!!! Barring anything drastic happening, they are a LOCK for state. Very good guard play, #1 should get a offer or two from a D1 if he plays well in Murfreesboro, I don't care what his height and measurables are. He's a ball player. #5 impressed me as well. Strong kid who gets to the rim and has a good shot. D2 and NAIA coaches should be in hot pursuit. #25 is your lefty, undersized post player (reminded me of the Reed kid who played a SS a few years back) but #25 is a better athlete. He should play somewhere as well. Humboldt had some bright moments when they locked in defensively, but there were way too many possessions offensively that they couldn't capitalize on. Very young team, but I think they will make a run
  10. I still would take Gibson County in that second tier. They are gonna figure it out. Union City has a solid team, but outside of #10 and #23 I don't trust that anybody else can make a play, plus to be so athletic, they don't rebound it well. Bradford is solid, 3 really good players (#44, #23, and #15) but they aren't great defensively, and offensively it's ugly when #44 isn't in there, she's the key to everything they do. Gonna get a look at McKenzie's girls tonight.
  11. Now after seeing everyone: 13-AA 1. Dyersburg 2. Westview 3. Crockett 4. South Gibson 14-AA 1. McNairy 2. South Side 3. Chester County 4. Scotts Hill
  12. 1. South Side 2. North Side 3. McNairy 4. Lexington
  13. 1. Wooddale 2. Raleigh-Egypt 3. Mitchell 4. Craigmont
  14. 1. South Gibson 2. Dyersburg 3. Crockett 4. Westview
  15. 1. Covington 2. Fayette-Ware (BUT they could win the district title) Very good basketball team. 3. Bolivar 4. Haywood 5. Ripley
  16. Any weaknesses that Greenfield has, OR anything they can improve???? I agree with another poster. A athletic team, with good rebounders who can handle their pressure could give them problems.
  17. I will be at that Humboldt-McKenzie game Saturday. Good chance to see them against a decent opponent.
  18. Well AA in West TN looks very wide open. Time to reassess our contenders again: Westview- Still a very good basketball team, BUT they have a serious issue right now and that's shooting the basketball. They need Callins back in a hurry. All bets off on them against Dyersburg now. Covington- I saw Fayette-Ware's girls, and I honestly think they are gonna give the Lady Chargers a good game. If they can stay injury free, they should cruise the rest of the way into the region championship. Dyersburg- They need to strike while Westview is finding themselves. Big game Friday at home against Crockett County. McNairy- Yes, the record is good, but I'm not seeing much meat on the schedule. Two losses to Dyersburg by a total of four points isn't bad at all. Still have to play South Side. South Side- Very young, inconsistent, and talented basketball team. Some days they will look great, other days they will have you wondering what are they doing out there. Game with McNairy on the horizon.
  19. Like I said before the season, 15-AA is gonna be a WAR. Covington and Fayette-Ware are the top 2, BUT Bolivar isn't gonna go quietly. And Haywood at 3-11, took apart 9-4 Ripley by 25. Fayette-Ware is at Haywood Friday Covington is at Bolivar. Should tell us more about this district.

Just my thoughts on Briarcrest, East, Wooddale, and Lausanne: Briarcrest: I really like #1, he's probably end to end one of the best PG's I've seen in the last 4-5 years. Really great vision and basketball IQ, I see why the blue bloods are in hot pursuit, NOW having said that, he must improve as a shooter, shot looks like it has a major hitch. That's the key if he wants to be a high school to NBA guy (if it passes before 2022) #4 is a monster athlete, great motor, shot is solid, heard he was all-State in football, and I see why. When he dunked over the IMG kid I came from my seat. He should be all-conference in the OVC. #13 is a BIG kid, but he moves like a wing. Soft touch around the rim, and actually surprised with his quickness defending outside the lane. Should have a chance to play pro football if he continues to work. East: #1 is gonna be a STEAL for a mid/low-level D1, very good run and jump athlete. Actually shot it better than I thought he would. Very good defender. I think he's a plug and play kid at the next level because he's sooooo athletic. #23 is gonna be a very good player at a D2. Good-mid range game and gets to his spots at ease. Solid athlete as well. Wooddale: #11 I honestly don't know, he's athletic and long-armed so there's that. He's a 4-star kid, but I don't know what he does well, not a good shooter or explosive athlete. He's gonna have to rev up his motor, get committed to grabbing rebounds and rim running. If his shot develops, he will be in a Power 5 rotation. Also, didn't like the fact he tried to go one on one with #1 from Monteverde. He's not that kind of player. #3 is a 2021 and he has a solid skill set. Scored from all 3 levels, needs to improve his decision making. Probably best for him to move to a prep school type setting to develop good habits for the next level. Lausanne: #23 was the BEST player I saw and it wasn't close. Shot blocker who pretty much forced Vashon (St.Louis) to take long 2's because he challenged everything at the rim. Used his long arms to grab every rebound in his area. Very intriguing offensive game too, handled it some and hit two threes. Top 5-10 player in his class and a good shot to go high school to the NBA. #5 is gonna be a great player at Evansville. A guy that just does everything for a team. He can score, rebound, defend, and he's unselfish. #0 is a ATHLETE!!! Gets downhill with ease and puts so much pressure on your defense because he can finish at the rim so well. Really good vision and instincts, shoots it good. Gonna be a very good college player.
  21. I still need to see more of Union City.
  22. Dyersburg is good, but are they gonna be able to hit enough shots????? I still like Westview, even Covington as well.
  23. South Side knocks off a undefeated Southmoore, Oklahoma team 70-60 to win Poplar Bluff Showdown championship.
