  1. Who is going to replace Dinger and Triplett? I haven't seen anything in the papers.
  2. McMinn had to throw their #5-6 pitchers at central since they played district games monday and tuesday. With Moses on the mound for Central, the 'kees had no chance from the get go.
  3. How have everyone's scrimmages gone so far?? Meigs fans where are u?????
  4. Its never wise to drink hard liquor before noon eagle
  5. 1. Of the pass oriented offenses that polk has played the past few years, this is the only quarterback that is going to college to actually play quarterback. There is a difference. 2. You obviously haven't seen Alcoa play if you'd rather play them than Loudon. 3. Turnovers, not who wants it more will determine the game. Im pretty sure that CAK wants to make it out of round 2 as much, if not more than Polk since they've been matched up with Alcoa the last few years. 4. If you go by the "your only as good as your last game" theory, the offense will have to get it together. less than 150 total yards of total offense will not get it done on Friday. I believe PC will have a much better night offensively than against Tyner.. or i hope so anyways. 5. The guy that posted the picture of the coach getting carried off the field supports a team that has won the last 6 state championships. Their idea of success is a little different than that of Polk's. It was good for PC to get the Tyner monkey off their back, but the Tyner team that lost last friday wasn't the same caliber Ram of the 90s and early 2000s . Nonetheless the boys gutted out a hard fought game to survive and advance. Its easy to see that you don't look at things from a big picture standpoint, thats fine. With that said Ill think we'll get the warriors GO CATS!
  6. I wasn't refering to you as a fool ump, sorry if i came off that way. i simply meant that it would be foolish for anyone to to compare apples to oranges in different classes of football.. believe me there is a difference. not that some single A players wouldn't stand out at AAAAAA schools, but there level of success would be at a completely different level. In football, the supporting cast plays such a huge role in the individual success of others.
  7. Easy ump I'm not knocking Allen or Hargrove at all. They are great players and two of the best in our area. I'm simply saying that Tyner will not be overwhelmed by their talent. Thats all. The two guys I mentioned played against DII competition week in week out. You are a fool to compare district 5AA talent to DII talent. Again not a knock, just a point worth making.
  8. The Doc says it would be wise to err on the side of caution before popping off on the boards here Cats fans. Tyner has played a much more difficult schedule than Polk County. They have gone up against a qb as talented as Allen when they played Baylor (Huesman). They have played against a linebacker as talented as Hargrove when they played McCallie (Coleman). They wont be surprised. Polk wasn't preparing for the playoffs when they were sitting starters in the 2nd quarter in more than half of their games. Tyner was when they strapped it up against McCallie and Baylor and Ooltewah. I wish the cats well but i dont have a good feeling about this one
  9. Meigs has NO chance in this game. As for looking down the road I agree with bigcat, Loudon, CAK, and Alcoa could care less if they played Polk. I do however believe that PC could beat CAK or Loudon and would compete well with Alcoa. Polk's season will end when they run into a team that has linemen they can't blow off the ball. Until then I expect the Wildcat train to steamroll along.
  10. the substate used to be apart of the state until the tournament expanded to 8 teams.
  11. Polk 6-0 Central 4-2 Meigs 1-3 Sweetwater 1-3 Sequoyah 1-3 Is this how the standings are as of now??????
  12. Polk Co. hasn't lost a district game to this point. I've seen them play a couple of times they can really hit the ball.
  13. Note to South Greene fans.. Polk has slowed the ball down exactly twice all season. Once against the #1 ranked team in the state, and the second time against Upperman who had a girl that was 6 inches taller than our tallest player. The best chance we had to win was to keep the ball away from the big girl. SG, you will find out that Polk's guards will are fast, physical, can handle the ball, and score. PC will do what it takes to win whether it means scoring 80 or 42. PC can play the fast game or the slow game.
  14. I couldn't agree with you more fb, this rule is absolutely absurd. It makes no sense to confine the head coach for the actions of the an assistant coach. Futhermore, how does it help the players if both coaches are confined? This is another move that proves that the powers that be don't care about the players. I think this is a rule to give incompetent umpires who have poor judgement an easy out when confronted by an assistant coach.
  15. This goes to show you how much stock we should put into these all state teams....... none. Its a joke. If coaches aren't going to put the effort into doing it right then they shouldn't even have an all state team.
  16. first off good 09 season to sp. the doc saw two sp games this year, polk and UC... and sp lost both. PC and UC were a lot more physical than SP. With that said how do you think a change to the wing t will help you next year powerp? Because this year you didnt make it to the state championship running it down other people's throats.
  17. McMinn Central and every one else playing for second
  18. Something to ponder pirate faithful... Randall Cobb was a better quarterback than Robinson is and you see where he is. If T.R. want's to have a shot to play with the big boys in a big conference he would be wise to look at the path of Cobb. Who was the last quarterback from East Tennessee to play for a big time conference FBS school?
  19. Anyone on here griping about excessive noise has probably never stepped between the lines in any sport. And if they did participate in sports they were probably on the splinter crew.
  20. The doc has a few observations after reading this topic. 1) Robinson is one heck of a football player and competitor. I saw him play one time against Polk Co. and the kid never gave up and never quit. He displayed leadership leading his team back and made numerous big plays. He took a POUNDING against polk county and didn't quit. 2)Small school players do get overlooked but that is the nature of the beast. One reason Baylor and McCallie players to get the nod to some schools is due to their academic performance. Athletes with good grades make themselves marketbale to more schools and get more academic money with their scholarship. 3)All college recruiters have to go on in football is the games the players play in high school. No one can evaluate talent when the score is 60 to 0 (not just 1A but also 2A and 3A). Unlike baseball where players can compete on elite summer teams or in basketball where players can play high level AAU, football has difficulty spotilighting individual players against elite competition. Best of luck to Robinson, I wish him the best at UTC. I hope he proves the big boys wrong for passing over him.
  21. As an east tennessee football fan i'll chunk my two cents into the ring. Alcoa convincingly defeated the #1 6A school in the state of tennessee. The manhandled Bell Co. Ky, who was knocked out of the 4A semifinals last week. Along with the gold balls the resume speaks for itself. Futhermore, Alcoa plays in a stout district (Their #3 team knocked off previously undefeated Polk Co.). So Milan fans don't get your junk all in a wad because east tenneseans are backing the tornadoes. People aren't saying your team is awful, they're simply saying that your team is going to lose... and probably big.
  22. Malcolm actually runs a 4.4...the fastest player on the team is a freshman....Demetric Johnson So you are trying to say that you have two guys with 4.4 or better? This is the most untrue thing I have ever heard. If that is true I would just put them on both sides of the Qb and run GO routes all day. Everbody use to say this about Marco daily too, but he MIGHT have ran a 4.55 at best. There are only a handful of players in the nfl who run sub 4.4 forties. I cannot wait to watch this game, bc I want to see the two fastest players in the state of Tn playing on the same team. I would say we have three people that can run a 4.4: RB Raquis Hale, WR Malcolm Jones, and WR Demetric Johnson and then everyone of our starters at skill positions run between 4.5-4.6....That is what makes our defense so good...they are quick....you have linemen that run a 4.6 and linebackers and db's that can run into 4.5-4.6 range it is a big help!!!!We our lightning fast and for people who do not believe it just come and buy a ticket and watch us play Friday and they will make believers out of ya Speaking of tickets all SP fans need to buy them at the highschool because if you do the school gets some of the money so do not forget to stop by there UC fans dont get caught up in all this hype about how fast the SP players are. their fastest players prob run in the high 4.6 range. Polk County's skill position players were everybit as fast as SPs. Trust me they're not that fast. If UC can win the battle in the trenches on both sides they will have a chance. If not, SP will be putting more gold in the case. Go UC!
  23. Wareagle if the truth were known it would be your beloved private schools that won't schedule small classification public schools not the other way as you have suggested. btw wareagle..... Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer!
  24. I have seen them play twice buc, and they left a tread mark on your baby blue just like we did!! Just cause central couldnt compete with them doesnt mean Polk or Loudon can't or won't. Loudon stuck with them as well as anyone has this season. Bad news buc, the measuring stick for how good a team is in our district no longer wears blue. It should be a head knocker tonight!!!!! Go Wildcats!!!!
