I know Anthony Hayes feels more confident about this game than any other this year, but not me. I don't think White Station stands much of a chance. Sure, White Station could be anybody on any given night, but I don't see it happening tonight. Seems like west Tennessee was able to get it done after all. I guess Arlington won't have to move regions, just schedule better. Congrats White Station. -------------------------- What is the deal with everyone pointing at Arlington's schedule? Come on man, they have been playing varsity football for 3 years! Do you think anyone public school would be scheduling White Station, MUS, CBHS, Whitehaven types in the first 3 years of varsity? Are district has been tough over the last few years. I would assume in the future they will schedule some more challenging out of district opponents. But keep in mind, in the last 4 years they have sheduled: Ensworth, Germantown, and Collierville as out of district games. All of these are very good programs. Congrats to White Station!!! Bring it home guys!!!

Or are you saying that adding only 45-60 minutes, does not make it "anymore of" a disadvantage? How about 75-90? Or 110-125? or 135-150? and on and on. It makes a difference, be logical. Sitting on a bus for hours at a time is not where you want your team to be before a game, however being on a bus traveling to play for a state title is.
  3. Solomon, here you go. P= private. Really a disadvantage to the West Tennessee Teams by doing this. I guess Independence was at a disadvantage when they traveled to west TN to play Arlington. On wait, Indy won that game. --------------------------- Yeah they won. This still means nothing, as far as the distance/time traveled. It is a disadvantage, and this is a fact. I do however agree: 1) that if you make it be happy to be there, and make the most of the opportunity, and 2) if you don't want it somewhere do not attend, then they make less and might move it. Hey mafia, congrat to you and wilco on a great season, but I can't say I'm sorry wilco got beat at home. Especially by a much more inferior WEST TN football team, from an area of inferior football. Somethings are simply priceless.

Theodore Roosevelt" ----------------- Congrats on a good season. The quote is a good one. Now it would be nice, if your posts live of up to it. From what I've seen so far from the Wilco. posts, most of you have NOT. Congrats to White Station, and win it all. All of us in West TN are pulling for you.
  6. Humm --I did NOT realize that, SpartansFan. That's very interesting and quite revealing.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congrats to both your teams and district on a great season. I sure would like to see one of you two beat the snot out of the Brentwood bracket winner.
  7. Fuzzy "we had a bit more size & about equal speed as you all". I'll agree with the size, but you are wrong about the speed. We had several burners, just didn't get them the ball deep. We missed a wide open wr in the 1st half and never really threw deep after. Also, we were deep, starting separate 11's on each side. Anyway, next year started, this one is history.
  8. My 2 cents. I'm not a coach, but have coached and know several coaches well. I played at a good HS program and played some college ball as well. IMO, the problem is parents expectations and attitude. I purposely try to keep most contact with other players parents to: "hi"s, "byes", and "good game"s, because of the constant complaining, and gossip. Also I try to keep my negative thoughts to myself or my family. If things were sour for my kid, tried to counsel him at home, and convince him to prove himself..work harder, hustle more. Most parents have unreal expectations for little Johnny. Every player cannot play Qb, be a starter, or D1 stud. Some parents are too "me" oriented and could care less about what is best for the team, especially with their "oldest or only". Too emotional. Their main concern is their kid. Get several of these "I coached my kid every year so I could make them a star, now he is in HS and this so and so coach knows nothing.. types" and your program is on life support. Also, too many of these parents do not really understand the real game of football, but they think they do. Examples, unless you know the assignments/automatics, etc on any given play, how can you possibly know who did what wrong? OR if the coach was wrong? They also don't what a 3, 5, 7 technique is, A, B, C pressure or gaps, shades, rips, swims, mirror techique, trail techique, etc... I've heard parents and other fans heckling 8-0 coaches as they're winning they're 9th! 5x district champs, former State champ coaches, etc. I've even seen parents whose kids have graduated and they still come to games just to heckle the coach... crazy loser type stuff. These coaches are not paid (really) for their 100hr weeks. Yes, I said 100hr weeks. Think about that 100hrs in a week for like an extra 5k. These parents are heckling, second guessing, insulting, because they see 2 hrs a week. 2hrs! Nice logic. I will say that all coaches certainly do and will make mistakes on strategy, personnel, discipline, judging talent, putting players in the wrong position, are arrogant at times, defensive, whatever. But hey they are not perfect, I mean come on. There are things that evolve/change constantly in the 4 years, one year, 1 week, 1 day, 1 hour for that matter: the kids grow, regress, work hard, hardly work, get injured, are emotionally distracted(home, girlfriend, teen life, whatever... growing up, stuff), academically suspended/distracted, in trouble at school or other places. There are a ton variables. The main thing is the vast majority of the coaches coach because they want to: #1- make difference in young peoples lives, #2 - love the game, #3- want to win. In that order. They did not sign on, because they like to be dogged by some self-centered parent who wants someone to give their kid something. All parents should decide to support their kids program and encourage their kid too as well. They should tell junior to work hard, pay attention, hustle to front, drop him off and leave. Let the coaches coach. If you have questions for the coaches(and this shouldn't be everyday or the same everytime), ask politely after practice, about "what junior needs to do to get better to help the program". Then do it, and realize that teaching him to have good character is the best thing for junior's life, not whining or being selfish. After all, you should let him play football because you want him to be part of the team, not because you want him to be the team. Encourage him to learn to win people over with hard work and character, not politics and gossip.
  9. Based on the Memphis area. There is no doubt private schools recruit.(I don't care either) Of course they do. Its absurd to think otherwise. End of story there. Public schools have as well. I remember back in high school years, many many years ago, schools were doing it. I would not say it is common however. Mostly this is spilled milk, jealously in my opinion. Winning is the best recruiting. Keep winning and people will want their kids to play at that school. Also a fun scheme, similar to what is played in college football helps as well. What kids/parents see on TV. In other words, I would never want my kid(if he had college potential) to play for a wishbone or wing type option team. The focus is to singlar from a player stand point. From the development stand point: o-line do not get enough pass blocking experience. From a skill position standpoint: the focus is usually on one player and kids get too little exposure to the passing game. Yeah I know what option is, and you know the focus is usually one player and on running the ball. The spread or spread option is by far better at getting a maximum number of players involved for all O-players, as for the defense, they benefit from practicing against this balance as well.
  10. You won. How about that sweep play? Ran it the whole 1st half, then all of sudden couldn't run it....3 pass plays. one dropped punt. That was the difference. You didn't want more. You and the rest of your arrogant people will get what you deserve from either Whitehaven or Whitestation. We will have the last laugh on you rich boys. I was impressed with the class your kids showed during and after the game. I guess the school or the coaches taught them that, because you posters have absolutely no class. Good luck to your kids, you posters know where I think you need a kick.
  11. Hey david is your idea going to be accurate like the Moore "You Got To be" insane Poll? Arlington 10-0, ranked #73 and 4 teams that are 5-5, one of which lost to Arl. at home ranked ahead of them by at least20 spots. A joke, overall record is the standard, anything else is BS of what other people want or believe. nice...Must be a future BCS system, based on years past in a league that 50-60% of the starters change yearly.
  12. I have been reading quietly all the BS from the haters. This is the facts: 1) We do not care who thinks we are overated. 2) I do not care how many times Wil co. has been in the playoffs. It has nothing to do with this year. Do you think we should expect Wil co in the finals every year forever? Maybe the refrees need to be investigated.?.? 3) No matter what you say or do this is about the teams and coaches. Not you or me. You mean nothing, nothing. I mean nothing. These kids will determine these games. 4) I am sick and tired of Wil co. saying they are better than our kids. You are not any better and neither are they. It will be proven on the field. WE WILL BRING HEART AND PASSION, I guess you are bringing the past and your arrogance. I DO NOT THINK IT WILL BE ENOUGH. GOOD LUCK.
  13. I agree - but no system should be in place that uses overall record of any kind because of that fact. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David still pushing for a TN BCS rating nice. I will again list a few reasons why this is flawed: 1) This is high school football. 2) If what objective critea can you use to determine who is the best/better team/s. Overall record is the only one. EVERYTHING else is subjective. 3) People can work the system, but they still have to win in their district. There is objective way to say one district is better than another other than if they all played. 4) The polls are subjective, is this what you want? 5) Every stat I saw you use involved the very stat you said should not carry any weight: Overall record. 6) Why is overall record not for a team in a district, but is on all teams in a district???? If they go to a goofy BCS formula, high school football loses. period. Unless of course you are the popular/sexy conferences with the populations to support the paprizzi that you will have to entertain to vote you into the playoffs.
  14. You know I love ya but if C-Mont, shows up like they did against Arlington and Millington they win. Doug ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I agree totally. Big, Fast, and Tough.
  15. My guesses: 5A: Craigmont over LC ................... 37-3 Too big, too fast , too tough. Mitchel over JNS ..................... 20-6 Mitchell, but tight 1st Bartlett over Melrose ............... 28-27 Bartlett stuns Melrose, and Willie runs and runs Ridgeway over HC ................... 31-10 a coaster 6A: Arlington vs Independence ........ ya'll know who I'm rooting for here, I have know idea of score. I just hope we win. Whitehaven over G-Town .......... 21-7 Haven gets it done against a tough Gtown team. Millington over Woodale ........... 21-7 Millington D too tough here. Kirby over Brighton ................... 24-23 a squeaker. White Station over Cordova ....... 35-28 Cordova could shockem though.
  16. Arlington has a good team this year. Do not think that Millington was the only team to not play their best football on that night. It was a hard fought game between two good teams. good luck
  17. I think this is because the 5A schools are playing 6A schools all year. This skews their records.
  18. "Assistant coach Lynord Crutchfield is very familiar with the Trojans having been the head coach at Bartlett not too long ago. Trojans will have to play mistake free football to advance to the second round." I believe Coach Crutchfield played at Bartlett, but he was head coach at Cordova. Good luck Trojans.
  19. Cam6 is right about Arlington being in an unfamilar pod and playing against teams that the west hasn't had much success with. However, Arlington is a 6 year old school, that has only played varsity football for three years making the playoffs in two of those ('09,'07). We have no history of playing this pod or really any pod, nor do they of us, and we run an offense that is different from others in our area, that I'm told is similar to offenses run in the middle Tn area. No one thought or gave us anything this whole year, so maybe we can keep surprising people. Hopefully, we will play hard and see what happens. My potential upset watch involves the teams from our district, all of whom I think are quality teams that are capable of winning it all, if everything comes together right. My list: Millington(6a), Cordova(6a), Craigmont(5a), and yes, Bartlett(5a). Good luck to all

  21. Please somebody, describe what could team, program Indy is/has.
  22. To Dou and the trojan nation: Thanks for the congrats. You have a great team, with great, classy hard playing young men and great coaches. It was a tough game with many swings in emotion. Obviously, you could have very well won, if one thing or another doesn't/does happen. Good Luck in the playoffs and beyond.
  23. Randy, Craigmont is 5A, as far as I know. Thanks for the interesting read!
