  1. If Haywood cleans up their snap issues from last week, it will be a hard road for CC to navigate.
  2. Haywood by 5 over Cordova. Someone please find me a bookie to take this action.
  3. Anyone taking shots at BigRed88 has no idea the passion and feeling he has for HC football... he has always been fair and objective in my conversations with him. These days everyone is so woke, you can't even have a little fun or even an opinion. Truth is HC defense has faced four of the better offenses in the state and will get better. Coach Counce never dodges anyone and always has his team around at the end. For many of us, this poster is the face of Patriots football - a throwback to the old days.
  4. Another way to keep the crowd down is what it sounds like.
  5. Cordova always has players, but Coach Smith is very familiar with them and definitely won't overlook them. I believe this is the only team in the 6A Memphis area he hasn't defeated (0-2) so he will have his team ready. Hywood 41-6.
  6. To be clear, I feel like in real game conditions, we would have probably defeated HC handily when you consider the kicking and return games. Our kicker puts 80 percent in the end zone. When you kick to Haywood, they get excellent field condition. Haywood was starting to click in the passing game towards the end. Historically, this staff has been pretty good in its third year. After two years at Germantown, Coach Smith went 11-1 and 12-1 back to back. It's been a good offseason and as someone who has seen this first hand, this appears to be the best squad HC has had in his time here. Lewis on offense is going to be dynamic, but it will weaken the defense at times as he rests. A key starter is returning at linebacker from surgery this week. I look for a lot of high scoring games from the Tomcats and for them to be there at the end.
  7. Not overly concerned with Cordova, but they are 6A and you never know what there Covid situation was... and all of a sudden the Tomcats Jamboree win over Henry County doesn't look quite as impressive. .
  8. You and I have conversed a lot lol, so I kinda know your style. Best of luck to the Patriots. When they aren't playing my Tomcats, I always pull for them!
  9. LOL - I knew it was you by the wording first time I read it!
  10. Good deal! Like I said, I am a big fan of Henry County and Coach Counce.
  11. That was no ordinary Jamboree between Haywood County and Henry County. I thought it would be vanilla, but if you were there you know it wasn't. Those two teams went at it tooth and nail and both coaches opened the playbook up. Both teams played their starters the entire game. I think Henry County is strong for sure, but in my opinion they have some problems in the secondary against a throwing team. Once Haywood established the run, they went up top and their tall, athletic receivers won every battle for 50-50 balls. They are noticeably short and not very physical. Offensively, Damron was on point and is much improved over what I saw last two seasons and will only get better... but I did notice six drops which could have make a difference. Not worried about their offense at all, but defensively, they are going to struggle if they can't stop the run. Just an unbiased opinion. I am always pulling for HC when they don't play against us, so Good Luck!!!
  12. I guess Sonny Moore can predict things like Haywood's Jaylin Lewis moving to offense and having 224 yards receiving in a half. Or a new soph receiver Haywood has off the basketball team who is a breakout star. Or Cordero Walker actually playing like a senior at qb. My guess is he has never seen any of these teams play. As a former decades long sports writer, I can attest that most have first hand knowledge of only a team or two. First I read that Walker's 7 on 7 performance didn't matter because it wasn't real football. So unless I am wrong, Henry County is predicted to be great in 5A and played its best to win the other night. I've been on the sidelines every Friday night for four decades or more and I feel somewhat qualified, but never compare teams or comment til I see them play.
  13. So I guess Henry County would be ranked third in these rankings?
  14. You guys are going to talk everyone to death... if Coach T won titles, we'd be crowning a lot of champs right now!
  15. I hated to see the series end and it will be the first time in six years I haven't been involved from the stands with a HC game. Saw their last three with Germantown and last two with Haywood County. Coach Counce and Coach Smith got tired of opening with each other I guess. They are also pretty tight and clinic together so there will be not many secrets in this one. Just two good teams banging heads and trying to escape injury free in what will probably be a vanilla matchup with nothing at stake.
  16. This is being held at Bethel in McKenzie at 6 p.m. Friday night because Henry County Stadium is not ready
  17. Never count Haywood County out...
  18. The Haywood-Whitehaven scrimmage was set up as 10 plays on offense at a time for each team and rotated ones and twos. Based on video I saw it looked like the two teams went nose to nose. Both very athletic and fast. Big plays for both sides. Defense looked slightly ahead of offense but Haywood had some big plays and a couple newbies really stood out. Good gauge for both teams as to where they are. I know Haywood is looking for another scrimmage to iron a few things out.
  19. We play vs. Henry County on August 13 in a scrimmage... other than that I don't believe there is anything else.
