  1. Surprised you didn't have any Memphis teams, but like everyone has said Southwind and Ridgeway. Melrose and Bartlett could get there.
  2. Its not Jones. His name is Jajuan Johnson.
  3. I think Southwind and Ridgeway would disagree.
  4. Cedric Miller II is a better back after watching film and seeing Miller. He's faster has good size and has track speed( 4.4, 4.5) guy and has excellent vision. He leads the city in scoring and is a threat catching and returning kicks. Kid has to be the most improved player from his junior to senior year.
  5. At the Southwind Jamboree Collierville and Millington played to a 7-7 tie or it might've been 7-6. Either way Millington's running game was pretty strong but they looked astrocious trying to throw the ball. Threw 2 picks I believe. As for Collierville I believe they were missing two of their better players and I was under the impression they weren't playing all of their varsity players or else I'll be disappointed with their season. As for Southwind they stomped Bolton 22-0. Which is what I expected. Two of their TD's were 70 yards or more and they had another 80 yard TD called back. They threw the ball well and ran it well too. Their defense looked vulnerable against the Screen, but other then that they also stone walled Bolton and a JV player got an INT once again it was Bolton so it'll be hard to get a read on how really good they are until next week, but they're O-Line is massive tall and wide bodied, but athletic and they return all their WR, The QB, and their Tailback. The defense was missing a starting LB, and DE as well. From the article in the commercial appeal Houston and Germantown were the strongest teams at Arlington.
  6. Ridgeway WILL take a step back. Their defense looked very poor against Olive Branch, they'll miss Jason Card, Trip, and a couple of their LBs and DTs. We all know how important those are. Their offense should be pretty much explosive and Sheldon Dawson will switch between RB and WR. The district should be heated this year with Ridgeway, Wooddale, Germantown, and Southwind in its do or die year. I'll be at the Southwind Jamboree Bartlett. And I'll also be checking out the City School Jamboree on Thursday.
  7. Report on Southwind, Whitehaven, or White Station?
  8. Nobody is disputing Middle TN is playing football as of now, but to say Memphis teams play nobody is also foolish. Most talented portion of the state and the gap seems to be growing smaller just going off the success of White Station and Whitehaven, but Memphis lacks that 3rd special program since Millington has fallen off, and Germantown doesn't have access to the much needed skill guys at Southwind anymore.
  9. Thats true, but what he is saying is that Memphis football isn't weak by any means, the coaching maybe but not the teams. White Station will have to go through Ridgeway, Whitehave, Mitchell(I think?), Melrose, East, and probably a MUS or CBHS again. That is not an easy schedule by any means.
  10. Lol a Southwind doesn't have any 6'8 monsters at that school except for two or three basketball players and they're not leaving so I don't know where thats coming from, but I agree with the rest of the thread.
  11. Skill guy wise for the most part they were, but at the key positions in their system they had Seniors, but they bring back Lowe so they should be fine, but I hear Sheldon Dawson is going to Whitehaven, I watched him torch Southwind and came away more impressed with him than Walton. Solid Corner, Explosive athlete, Gamebreaker.
  12. Blackhaven you're misinformed about Gtown. They lose alot on their O-Line, QB, and 2 of their top 3 running backs and a couple of guys in their LB corps. They'll have alot to replace and might seriously be considering moving to a more modern offense due to their loses.
  13. Umm Hollins was the BEST player at the tournament and the only people picking Bearden to win were non-Memphis fans and I'll say this every year, once Southwind gets eliminated I root for Memphis and thats all that matters. Memphis has own the state championships the past decade so we deserve the right to talk smack! All the Middle and East TN teams can have the gaudy stats and records, but we'll take the hardware next year beware of a few names like these: Cameron Golden Nick King Jajuan Johnson Blake Johnson Anthlon Bell See ya next year hopefully you can stop this Memphis dominance, but I think you just missed your window, because the 2012-2014 classes are LOADED.
  14. Memphis prevails once again and Craigmont isn't losing much, Ridgeway, East, Southwind, and Central are all bringing back probably their most talented teams in awhile. Better luck next year Bearden smh Memphis STAND UP.
  15. The kid scored more than half of his 28 points in the second half, but he wasn't the best player on the court? Ok, oh well survive and advance Ridgeway had a bad game against this same Clarksville team a few years back. Survive and advance.
  16. Melrose..is back. They've defeated White Station, Central twice, and Ridgeway in a short time span. They always start off slow, but they're coming to form.
  17. Yes Stokes is a gamer, but his performance yesterday has to do with Southwind's D. He was constantly trapped and the Jags did a good job of keeping him off the board and made him go to the stripe to get most of points though he has to learn to be a better passer out of the trap though and defensively this is just the matchup problem J3 causes and is why when they play White Station, I don't think you'll see big Marvin for long stretches.
  18. Let me step into the fray, I'm no lover of White Station, but they've hushed me up as a a critic for the most part, but I believe Southwind is the number 1 team. I just like their balance and the matchup problems they cost. Big Marvin simply will be out of place when these two teams meet up. KD Sullivan is thin, but has the attitude and they basically showed me today they can defend the paint as a team. Stokes and Clear could never find a groove. When Darious Paige is on point, this team is almost unstoppable and they were able to play outside of their own tempo and then force Central to speed up and the Warriors looked uncomfortable at times. Unlike last year this team isn't in love with the three, but until Leron gets 100 percent healthy I'll take Southwind over White Station anyday.
  19. Hold on GC, I don't think there is a clear cut best team in Memphis, though I do think Southwind has all the ingredients. They have an inside presence in J3 and KD who cause matchup problems, and have solid guard play with Jajuan Johnson, Looney, and Denzel hardy. Keep in mind Darious Paige, 2nd leading scorer from last year has been having a lackluster year. They also have depth and enough experience. Melrose still has the most talent to me, but they lack an inside presence and PG. White Station has Andre Hollins, but his sidekicks are inconsistent as of now. Central has a solid starting 5, but lack a bench IMO.
  20. J3 is a top 15 player nationally just sayin'. Is Hubbs is slow footed than the Crawford kid at Melrose should really be ahead of him.
  21. Hubbs is top 10, but I think Austin Nichols should DEFINITELY be ahead of him, and Markell Crawford and Jajuan Johnson are pretty good guards.
  22. Yeah..White Station was pretty much hanging with White Station so I'm pretty sure the Big 4(Melrose, Central, White Station, and Southwind) could hang.
  23. Well Dragonmaster, the teams have struggled enough with the press and half court defense when facing Memphis teams, and Memphis basketball is a whole 'nother beast flaming eagle. Bearden, Dyer County, and Science Hill are the only teams I could see realistically beating any of the big 4( Southwind, Melrose, White Station, Central)
  24. Memphis teams don't play defense? Don't be a moron, the defenses from Memphis are always top notch and most of the presses can't be broken by Middle and East TN teams, White Station, Melrose, Raleigh Egypt, and Ridgeway have all proven that the past few years.
  25. Jeffs I'm pretty sure you know what I mean by wins and Losses. Quality of opponents and overall record should be the criteria. I can bet Central has played a tougher schedule than Bearden up to this point.
