  1. Was last week's (Sunday's) Beech team outstanding? Vol74 is there another team in 5A that has Henry County's depth at O-line or D-Line? ..or running back for that matter? Was/Is Station Camp outstanding? Was the atmosphere outstanding in your opinion? I've heard the Internet Streaming last night WAS outstanding...please clarify your definition of outstanding!!
  2. Unfortunately..given the despair among the Beech faithful and the armchair QBs giving their senseless "what if's"...not one person has mentioned the atmosphere last night at Shackle Island Stadium!....I thought just one poster might say.."wow, I'm glad I was in attendance for such a great game between 2 great teams!"...great job to both communities for supporting their programs! P.S. can anyone give me/us a total number for last night's gate? Also, an estimate for what the Beech FHA?? collected last night in parking fees?
  3. Since (according to Beech fans) Henry Co. cannot use last night's game/outcome as a measuring stick for talent, depth, ability, or toughness...I guess we'll just move on to the Ridgeway game in 2 weeks at Patriot Stadium to determine just how good the Patriots are! However, all Beech fans, Hurd supporters, Vol lovers, and any/all non-Patriot believers are also welcome to attend! The game begins at 7pm yet tailgating starts at around 4pm! Come see for yourself what Henry County is able to do against (what Beech fans would consider) a more worthy opponent! Best of luck Bucs in your next 8 games..see you in November!...(thankfully -most likely in Paris)

  6. love the respect shown here by each fanbase...I think this is another reason the Pepsi MidAmerica Football Challenge is so popular.....indeed the Milan/Dresden game will be an intriguing one! Please spread the word in both communities and let's pack Patriot Stadium on Aug. 16th!

  10. May the Lipscomb Mustangs find strength and comfort during this difficult time....Coach McAdams is/was highly regarded from border to border of our state....the Henry County Patriots are thinking and praying for the McAdams family and the Lipscomb High/Academy Mustangs......
  11. GCPioneer, give us your best (top 10) Northwest TN girls basketball teams. (North of I-40/West of TN River plus adding Lexington, Riverside, and Jackson Schools if they would qualify)....
  12. If HC "was not Beech's first choice...to retain on its schedule", who was their first choice? Apparently McGavock was 1st on the Buc's list. HC was first informed that the Patriots/Bucs series would not continue...then the following Monday..the game was back on..we assume McGavock declined the Beech offer. Nonetheless..congrats on the gold ball! Well earned and well deserved!!
  13. maybe in basketball....but in football...that statement is hilarious!!
  14. http://www.timesfree...y-dooley-staff/ I'm sure most of you have read the artical above from the Chattanooga writer in this past Sunday's paper. Unfortunately, Memphis has been guilty of this same offense under several different coaching staffs. Hopefully, with the new staff and conference affiliation, each will help breathe a new breath of life into the Tiger program and more of West Tennessee's top athletes will catch the eye of Tiger recruiters. I can assure you that UT-Martin has made it a focal point for their program and it already has proven to be beneficial to the Skyhawks. It is my hopes that Memphis will continue to improve and be competitive in the Big East. I know there have been some preliminary discussions between Memphis and Vanderbilt about the possibility of having a football series between the two schools in the near future. I think without a doubt that many will benefit from such a game particularly if Memphis continues to show signs of improvement and directs more athletic emphasis on its football program. The downside to all of this would be a continued fight over Shelby County's top athletes for other D-I schools...particularly, UT. Factsonly and KWC alluded to it. To confuse one person's passion for UT with every high school kid's desire to play there is simply erroneous. There is more to recruiting than big stadiums, jersey colors, marching bands, etc. How comfortable does the player feel with the coach that is recruiting him...whether that be the position coach or the head coach? What amount of success does the recruiter have to show the athlete and what is the outlook on/for future success? These are the questions most kids must answer and decide upon with their families.
  15. Simply heart breaking to see the end of the rivalry with Dickson County as far as we all know it! That game has been played every year since 1977 and was as even of a rivalry over the years as one could ever hoped for! Know that every possible avenue was exhausted on Henry County's end to keep this game on the schedule for the forseeable future. Unfortunately, the importance and passion for this game was not shared by our Dickson County bethren which is equally heart breaking! Also, it might be worthy to note, Henry County was not Beech's first choice either to retain on its schedule. Nonetheless, they did agree to another 2 years of playing the Patriots. WE better hope that each Clarksville High School starts to experience some good fortune in football as well as Springfield!...we need the support of these schools to help further our program....which traditionally, the support has been plain ol' poor! Love them or hate them, hats off to Liberty! That's one team you don't have to worry about their motives or plans....they simply want to play! Thank you Crusaders!
  16. Btw...the credentials of the new coach is not what is at question here. I trust he is an outstanding person, coach, educator....nonetheless, Humboldt has a mess in which others nearby are going to reap the rewards of...
  17. Ok...next question....If the "booster club president" "wanted rid of Bland"....why is he/she allowed to be the booster club president to begin with? The job description is to help raise funds to and for the betterment/furtherment of the football program...regardless of who is the head coach!.....when these individuals lose sight of their mission...and start "slinging their weight" around....it's perhaps time to appoint someone new to that role. (not that it is an easy role to fill) Booster club president is a job....not a position!
  18. explain to me why/how a "football booster club president" has any say or input in such a matter as firing and hiring of a football coach!!?? Humboldt High is not a "state university" nor a "private institution" where $$ moves the meter.....please tell me that your post is purely speculation and hear-say!?
  19. I think the term "D-I" talent is what is/was being discussed...thus, if a person makes a roster, regardless if he's a walk-on or scholarship player....most would agree that this person posesses "D-I" talent....
  20. Well, my good friend, the Whitehaven Senator hit on something that got me to thinking....is he right? or is he just partially right? As we all know, the term "D-I" does not "ONLY" mean SEC. It also refers to Sunbelt, ACC, Big East, Pac 10,12,14..whatever they are...and the Big 10, WAC, Mountain West..or even Independantsfor you Notre Damers ....BUT, I figured we could all look at the SEC rosters to get a better idea of the overall landscape of the State's best D-1 football talent. So here we go! Tennessee has the most players from the State of Tennessee on its "current" roster with the 38. Vanderbilt is next with 21 (with also an impressive number of commits for next season) Kentucky is 3rd with 12 players from Tennessee. Ole Miss is next with 11. Alabama has 5 players from Tennessee. Miss. State, Arkansas, and Georgia each have 4 players from Tennessee. Auburn has 3 and LSU has 2 from Tennessee on their respective rosters. Mizzouri, Texas A&M, Florida, and South Carolina are the 4 teams without a Tennessee player represented on their team. Now, here is what was at the top of the debate...where/what area are most of these players from? Well, here's the answer! Of the 105 players on SEC rosters who are from Tennessee, 45 of them are from the Western third of the state. Middle Tennessee has 33 represented. East Tennessee has 27 players on SEC rosters, 19 of which are wearing orange on Rocky Top. Disclaimer; The two young men on the Auburn roster which mentioned their hometown as being Memphis actually played high school football for Scott Samsel at Olive Branch High School in Olive Branch, MS. Nonetheless, the Senator is spot on with his accessment even though the SEC is not a full recap. Lastly, for the record...Jon Gruden is not going to Knoxville as the UT head coach.
  21. I was referring to both fan bases.....like quads 3 & 4, the winner of quads 1 & 2 will be extremely tough!!
  22. Dresden...but don't get carried away....one week at a time!
  23. Even though the "holler" is the 2nd closest High School Stadium to our county's border, I've never seen a game played there! This will change as of Friday night! I can't wait to see this one....and, I hope to bump into the Enforcer240 so I can buy him a bag of popcorn!!!
  24. Reminder Patriot fans, the fan bus will be departing Paris as close to 3pm as possible Friday. There are still approximately 30 seats remaining on the bus. Call 642-0860 to reserve your seat! Go Big Red!
  25. I love reading posts from KWC....very wise poster!!
