  1. Foozeball....I can guarantee you that it is just as difficult for my team to schedule 2 non-districts as it is for your team to schedule their non-districts....we've fought this battle much longer than any other given our geographic location......while I respect your team and its rich history, the Conquistidors are not the "only" team left that would play your Bulldogs......you can't make us redneck fish eaters believe that....
  2. For the record, the team I follow has a 8-2 overall record and a 7-1 district record. We actually finished the season in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the district. Nonetheless, we will be traveling this Friday as a #5 seed to play a team that is 6-4 (win one of these wins coming by way of forfeit). Our community is excited about this opportunity and many look forward to visiting this historic venue which to my knowledge, we've never played in before. In the postseason, when trying to admit teams in or leave teams out of playoff brackets...I have a hard time feeling sympathetic to those who do not handle the "on the field business" in the 11 weeks prior. Yes, injuries occur, teams can not play to their potential on occasion...but all in all, the majority of the teams playing this week are among the very best in their classification. The only exception to this is White Station in 6A who I believe to be among the top 15 teams in 6A.....if their team could behave properly and their coach/AD had a better understanding of the rules, they would be hosting a game this weekend....however, they will be watching other teams around the city instead...
  3. ‎9:32AM...37 seats are left on the fan bus going to Crump Stadium Friday night! Go Big Red!
  4. If your team beats another district team head to head, but that team finishes ahead of your team in the district standings...are you suggesting that your team should be seeded ahead of them? If so, what incentive does winning your district or finishing 2nd have? Why have districts at all in that case?

  6. Patriot football fans; There will now be a fan bus heading to Memphis on Friday afternoon for the playoff game against Memphis-Hamilton at Crump Stadium. Seats are $30 a piece and does not include admission to the game. There are 55 seats on the bus and there are already 15 fans signed up for the ride. The bus will leave at 3:30pm from the Patriot Stadium parking lot. There are 40 more seats available. Fans can post here on this page or call 642-0860 starting tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 8:30am to reserve a seat. Go Big Red!!
  7. based on your description, there is nothing that seems unfair about it the current system Each team knows the teams in their district they must defeat prior to qualifying automatically for the postseason. It is absolutely impossible to construct each district the same from the number of teams, number of teams in the same postseason class, or the same talent level. Therefore, each team has the same opportunity knowing ahead of time the challenges that lie before them. Coaches can also choose how they schedule their non-district games to better allow them an opportunity of qualifying for the postseason. Now, is the system perfect? I answer that with a definate no. Does the system allow more student athletes and schools to experience the postseason...to this I answer absolutely! Is the system fair based on the issues you described?...to that I would also answer yes!
  8. 1. Arlington Tigers 2. Whitehaven Senators/Tigers 3. Southwind Jaguars 4. Germantown Red Devils 5. Brighton Cardinals (do not like this pick) 6. Northside Indians 7. Henry County Patriots 8. Craigmont Chiefs 9. Ridgeway Roadrunners 10. Covington Chargers 11. Sheffield Knights 12. Dyersburg Trojans (not very confident here either) 13. Mitchell Tigers 14. Milan Bulldogs 15. TCA Lions 16. Briarcrest Saints 17. McCallie Blue Tornados 18. Harding Academy Lions 19. DCA Wildcats 20. Fayette Academy Vikings 21. St. George Gryphon
  9. What difference would that make? What different outcome would you predict if this were the case? Why would a larger school care if there were schools with smaller enrollments in the same district?....of all things to be concerned about, why is this an issue?
  10. Ridiculous arguement.....Dyersburg is 9-1...there only loss is to a team in the same classification.....Covington is in the same district and classification as Dyersburg....and represent Dyersburg's only loss...absolutely ridiculous arguement that holds no water. All teams in the district is classed as 2A for 11 weeks....therefore, everyone is "the same" classification.
  11. How so? Northeast placed 2nd in District 10....Hendersonville would have been an at-large bid.
  12. Henry County will more than likely be on the road next week at Crump Stadium to play Memphis Hamilton who finished their season tonight by beating Melrose 14-12. We will know for sure tomorrow at 10:00 AM but look for the Patriots to be a #5 seed in Quad 4. We also will be the only District 10- AAA member in Quad 4.
  13. That's how it works...Henry County is also 8-2 and will be a #5 seed and traveling to Memphis to take on Hamilton High School(more than likely)! Be proud if your #4 seed!
  14. White Station forfeited their first game against Ridgeway due to a internal fight on the team. They actually beat up a kid to get themselves ready/prepared for Ridgeway.....Prophet is correct...they will not host 1st round.
  15. Limiting travel has never been a factor in this new playoff system. Allowing more teams to experience the postseason is the main purpose of the Z plan and counting the revenue each brings in.
  16. For clarification purposes only (not to be hostilely debated) is anyone suggesting that Olive Branch was "the only" out of state team the Bulldogs could schedule that particular week? And, was the Smyrna coaching staff aware of Coach Samsel's success prior to scheduling? There was no Metro-Memphis team the school could pay to come to Smyrna 2 years in a row? Again...just asking the question for clarification purposes only!
  17. 1. MUS Owls 2. CBHS Purple Wave 3. Arlington Tigers ( I don't like this pick at all) 4. Whitehaven (Da Haven) Senators 5. Northside Indians 6. Ridgeway Roadrunners 7. Brighton Cardinals 8. Fairley Bulldogs 9. Munford Cougars 10. GW Carver Cobras (GW Carver has scored 44 total this season to Oakhaven's 40 total points)
  18. Bulldog Fooze....First off, the "Fair" you speak of was back in August...sorry you missed it. Next, I didn't realize this topic was a comparison between 7-AAA and 10-AAA. I think I can speak for the Dickson County fanbase by also saying that we in Henry County play according to what the TSSAA tells us regarding district alignment and classification! Given our large geographic area and the number of large high schools within that area, each member school is only allowed 2 "non-district" games! (we would be in favor of a 11 or 12 game regular season) Both Dickson and Henry County scheduled a "tough" and "challenging" game as non-districts unlike the majority of the state's teams. The Cougars schedule the annual affair with Columbia while the Patriots scheduled the Beech Bucanneers....So, my question is, who is/are the nobodies you speak of? Secondly, the team I follow closely would have no problem scheduling your Bulldogs, Brentwood High, or even Independence for that matter given that we (as well as Dickson) were all in the same Region together just a few short years ago! (except Smyrna) While in those days, the Bruins were tough, Independence was far from elite....furthermore, you ask how do I think "my team" would do against either of them, well, I like our chances against any of the Tennessee teams you mentioned!...I can't speak for Dickson! While not in the discussion, I would take Beech ( the team we were defeated by early) over each of these Tennessee teams you mention without waivering and without hesitation! I can also say without compromise that if my Patriots were to line up against Coach Wiley's Arlington Tigers,(who we have also scrimmaged recently) I'll take Henry County by 14....(especially given his QB is out for the season!) We have all here wondered about playing Olive Branch given that our former head coach Scott Samsel is coaching the Conquistidors! This year's team in OB I feel is probably much more talented that are we.....over the next couple years tho, my attitude will/would be quite different, thus, don't rule out that game either! While pointed at the Dickson readers, your boosting regarding Oakland is intriguing! We here would love to play Murfreesboro's Patriots given there is a tie that needs to be broken....Henry County lost the first match against them but beat them the very next season following their lifting of the State Championship Trophy! (work on that will you Coach Foozeball!?) However, there seems to be some confusion related to scheduling...no one "makes" a team play the "privates" as you indicate. That is merely a choice made by a particular coach wishing to compete against a Father Ryan (who we often scrimmage) MBA (who we've play in the past & who "might" be added), Brentwood Academy (who we have played in the past) MUS, Baylor (who we've never lost to), Briarcrest, etc. The only "private" on your team's schedule the last 2 years is BGA...therefore, I wonder what leverage you have for an argument. BGA is hardly Ensworth, MBA, or even CAK! ..wish most feel was scheduled as a "cupcake" game only to have the table turned on your Bulldogs. Let's talk common ground...nowhere in the archives will you find "our school" defending the current system....no one here has a problem playing in a 3 class or a 4 class system. While we aren't out activily petitioning for this plan or that plan, you also will never hear HC suggesting that there should even be a Div. II class in existance. Have you been told otherwise? Those are things you just don't hear from us. We simply do as we are told by the TSSAA.....you might can refer to us a Patriotic Sheep....proudly competing where we are led! Lastly, better luck next year to your proud program! We understand moreso than ANYONE the challenges of assembling a 10 game schedule. Few face the geographic challenges as we do which are compounded by our teams recent success! p.s. Smyrna also has a great fish restaurant right off of I-24 on the Sam Ridley Parkway!!
  19. DC80; you are correct on a couple matters here.....first and foremost, we understand the impact Creekwood has had on your community, however, according to the admimistration in Cougarville, Creekwood's fanbase resemble that of our other district brethren in Montgomery County....which is to say....its backing of their team is poor at best. What was scheduled as a community rally game....has not reaped many dividends....neither on the field, nor in the bank account. Secondly, Henry Countians did not/has not patented the large following of its sports teams as you say. As a matter of fact, I can remember when we advertised/rallied the community to turn out on Friday nights because Dickson County was coming to town!...In many ways, in the early days, our goal was to mimic and resemble the excitement and fanfare created by the Dickson County followers. Look what these efforts created!...the atmosphere Friday night as well as last year here in Paris, and the previous year in Dickson on that Thursday night were all outstanding! Again, we can only hope that this will continue to be the case and possibly grow in excitement and respect for one another's accomplishments! On this note, we are in the "early stages" of declaring the Henry County/Dickson County football Friday a "working man's/business man's" holiday!.....Hopefully, Dickson County fans will accept the challenge and travel to Paris next year to compete in a highly contested 4 man scramble golf outing!!....We hope to play for a trophy much like "the Barrel" our two teams play for! If this event comes together, HC/DC fans can play this competitive 4 man scramble for 4 years without ever playing the same golf course! (Paris Landing State Park, Greystone, The Tennessean, Montgomery Bell State Park). This is an idea to rejuvenate and grow our rivalry yet also allow an opportunity to visit and fellowship with others who share the same enthusiasm for our communities and high school athletics!.....now that I think of it, this might be worth a patent!!!.............more info to come!
  20. First off, Dickson County is 9-1 and a very good football team. Secondly, Dickson County, Henry County, Clarksville High, and Clarksville Northwest are the oldest and charter members of District 10-AAA. The next oldest member of this district is Springfield who was added in 1979. So, this argument that Dickson Co. or Springfield should be in other districts is laughable! Yes, many of us would trade West Creek or Northwest for any other team/school who is competitive and has the support of its community. Neither DC, HC, nor Springfield has the authority to add-to, or subtract from the currently district alignment. If any could, this would have already taken place! The reason Dickson's schedule ranks as one of the weakest, is due to the weakness of West Creek, Northwest, Rossview (who will probably make the playoffs) and Kenwood (who too will likely make the playoffs if the beat Clarksville High). However, given the new enrollment figures just released, this district will remain intact for the forseeable future. On a positive note, Clarksville Northeast and (for the most part) Clarksville High have made improving in football a focal point in their athletic program. I personally hope each of these find success to boost our overall district strength to a level of respectability...and hopefully Kenwood and Rossview will build on this season's success and eventually do the same! As far as the Cougars go, they are as well coached of a high school team as you will find in Tennessee. Rarely, do you have a graduate who played on the most successful team in that school's history come back to lead his alma mater in such a capable and dedicated fashion. It is not time to push the panic button in Dickson. As a matter of fact, it's time for the exact opposite to happen.... it's past time for the community to rally behind its Cougars in an effort to return them to the fierce and feared Cougars of the late 80s and early 90s. Last week's crowd was a respectable one for the host team but it is still lacking from the support I remember seeing follow the Cougars routinely as a young Patriot! Early in the game against Henry County, the Cougars lost their best play maker/difference maker on defense. We all knew this game would be a low scoring affair given the strength of both defenses...of course when the Cougars lost their run stopper, the dynamic of the game changed somewhat. Lastly, if there are those out there who believe that the top teams in 5A and the Mid-upper 6A teams are all that different as it relates to strength or district rankings, I encourage you to glance over into District 9-AAA and recite back to us the current district rankings over there. You'll find that the game between Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet (both 6A teams) is for 2nd place in the district behind the 5A Beech Bucanneers. You'll also find the same scenario in District 8, District 12, District 13, District 14 (tie between a 5A & 6A), and in District 15 (tie between a 5A & 6A). Other than Maryville in 6A and "possibly" Dobyns Bennett, I am confident enough to say that there's not a 5A team in Tennessee that couldn't/wouldn't beat the rest of the 6As. That theory is a myth yet to be proven by actual facts. Pick it up Cougar fans, many teams wish to be in your scenario headed into the playoffs! Get it together as a fanbase....Coach Williams will have his team ready...that you can bet on!
  21. DC80....are you kidding? HC's postgame meeting was on the opposite side in the exact same location on the field as was Coach Williams' postgame gathering!....Furthermore, you obviously weren't at the game in Clarksville...otherwise, you would have seen the same scenerio take place following the loss to Northeast as has been the custom now for years....win or lose...Patriots fans, parents, students, etc. gather around the team and coaching staff to pray, revisit the important matters of that night, and receive the marching orders for the upcoming week!......the fact that Dickson County sings their alma mater following their games has no bearing on where/when the opposing teams has its postgame ritual. Give it a rest.... btw...excellent football team the Cougars have....we in Paris hope they do well in November....that will never change!..(so long as they aren't playing the Patriots!)
  22. Enforcer, who are you taking in the Huntingdon/Dresden game next Friday? I have not looked yet, but it may be that this game is part of the big ones contest and I must pick a winner. Believe it or not, I value your opinion. Who wins and why?
  23. I have said it once and I will say it again, the Olddevil is wise. A wise person will listen to the wise Olddevil. Most fans, Parents, and students rush onto the field to join the team in prayer and listen as the coach points out the good of that night's game. A deliberate effort was made by myself and a couple others to divert Henry County fans around the Dickson County team post game meeting. Sande, luckily I know a few of the coaches and administrators at Dickson. Therefore, I know you represent only a small sampling of cougar fans. Most DC fans would likewise encourage us to join our team in their prayer and post game meeting.
  24. I must say- after seeing the Golden Tide in the Pepsi Mid-America Challenge...I'm not all that surprised either....they are/were extremely athletic! FactsOnly; I agree..if a cat were to sit in in the pregame pep talk-the cat would leave there a lion!!
