I believe "they're" is what you are looking for there. I agree that public schools do not benefit by playing private schools and can see why a public would prefer avoiding games with privates. My point is simply that the private schools are on the rise and have been poaching the better players at an increased level the last several years. I cannot speak as to any specific reasons as to why SH did not want to play Catholic though. I can say with certainty that several of the best players from East TN are at private schools instead of the normal public school powers. However, I do not blame the private schools for recruiting because they are allowed to, and I do not blame kids for going private. The national movement of the best players going to private schools is just now coming to TN. When you look at the best teams around the country playing in big tournaments or on TV they are almost all private schools. You do not see any county or small city schools at those big tournaments like the City of Palms; You see prep schools and catholic schools and academies. Lastly, look at the schools for the top 100 players coming out of high school. They will be 90% private school kids. That trend has started here

Two starters. Shamarcus Brown was one. He was all-state in football and on the all state tournament basketball team. I believe the other starter was named Robinson that also played football

Consistency with what? Like I said before, I believe there were guys on that state championship team that played football

In the old days at Bearden there were almost no kids who played both football and basketball. I am pretty sure the 2019 state championship basketball team had 2 football players in the starting lineup.

Thank you. I think Oak Ridge is up there with DB, Bearden, and Morristown East in East TN AAA. Not hearing much from Middle TN, but Siegel should make some noise

I agree Houston and Arlington should be at the top. Who would be out of Middle TN AAA? I know Siegel should be up there. As for East TN right now in AAA, I would say Dobyns-Bennett, Oak Ridge, and Bearden from what I have seen so far.

Private schools did not poach his best players back then though. The best players that are zoned for Science Hill are at private schools now

They lost to Kingston, Greeneville, and Webb already. I do not see how they are at the top of AAA if they cannot beat small private schools or AA teams. Just my opinion

That Concord Christian score with the Wildcats seemed odd. Did you watch that one? I don't see how they could keep it that close

How did they only beat Stone by 5 @WillieTheWildcats and @SweetScience? I saw Stone play this year and was not impressed

Jordan all day and twice on Sunday. BJ is a great high school player, we just disagree on him compared to Skyy Clark and Springer. It is a shame Knox Co. has shut down sports. The kids are safer in sports than in the classroom in my opinion. In the classroom they sit all day in close proximity to others and at lunch it there are no masks and just like normal. Knox Co. does not care about kids or sports and has a complete lack of leadership from the top down based on what I have seen this year.

I was at the Catholic game last night. BJ was guarded by a 5'7" kid from Bearden and only scored 11 points. He did not look like an SEC-caliber player to me last night, but that was the only game I have seen him play.

What happened in that West and LC game? I am shocked that West lost that one

Can't sneak anything past you. I cannot remember any basketball transfers at West in the last 20 years, but maybe there have been some. There has to be a link to a coach or someone close to the program.

Maryville got their transfers last year. Does anyone know how those two transfers ended up at West?

Maryville is the reigning District 4 champs until proven otherwise. Central has the talent to compete with Oak Ridge. One wildcard will be Knox West with their new coach and questionable transfers.

Were they scared of losing to Cleveland again and not living up to their hype?
