  1. Senior night at Karns, and if Campbell County could beat Oak Ridge and Karns wins, they get a home playoff game. Could be Bishop's last home game if Karns loses.
  2. As a fan of both schools (having been a teacher at Powell for 47 years and having a granddaughter at Karns), this had to be one of the most exciting games I have been to (not counting the State Championship game last year). Large fan support by both teams, neither team giving up, huge mistakes by both teams - both teams were up two touchdowns during the game. In the final analysis, Powell’s defense and running game came up big.
  3. Last time Powell beat Maryville (‘96) a Stooksbury was QB. He was a Senior though. Our Stooksbury is a Sophomore this time. Hoping Powell will be respectable, but the Panthers will do their best.
  4. Powell is Region 3; S-D and Central are Region 2. However, Powell ends the regular season on November 1 at S-D
  5. Powell improved this week over last week. Still has a long way to go, but remember this is the fourth coach in four years. Give him some room to get to know the region and his players and let the players have some time to adjust. We opened with two very good opponents. Let's wait a few more games to make a judgement on the season. Clark Duncan went 0-10 his first season at Powell.
  6. Powell 34 Clinton 0 with 5 minutes in 2nd
  7. Powell wins but only barely as they hold off Karns from about 2 yards out & first down with over two minutes in the game. Karns had two penalties that backed the ball up to the 12, but had one last shot with 6 seconds to go. Final - Powell 19 Karns 13. Tough loss but good game by Beavers. Panthers must correct self-inflicted problems.
  8. Karns usually gives Powell a good game regardless of records. Somehow, they keep games close.
  9. Great game CAK - Powell needs to buckle down now and work on their Region.
  10. Beautiful stadium, great atmosphere, exciting game. The "what if" of Strozyk going out in the second and not coming back allows us to believe we could have won if...; but that is a part of the game. Congratulations to a deserving Lion's team. Good luck against Beech. We will be pulling for you.
  11. Powell's schedule did feature teams without impressive records this season, but it was about the same last year and Powell came within a last minute fumble of winning the state. It is extremely hard comparing teams from different areas until they get on the field and compete. Looking forward to Friday night. It should be an exciting game.
  12. Ought to be a great game. Glad I will have the chance to see it.
