  1. Bga will be very tough in div II a
  2. Ive read this thread on here and also on the high school football forum. Its quite evident who is posting the messages. Its understandable for the South Pitt folks to support one of their own but the posts are extremley misguided. I am a huge sports fan and travel the state regularly with my job. I try and watch the best games possible wherever I end up each week. I have only seen Trob play 3 times and Huesmann a few more than that but that was enough to say without a doubt you people bashing Utc decesion have absolutley no clue. Jacob Huessmann is the best athlete I have seen in the state of Tennessee. Has it ever dawned on you people that maybe he is just better? Basically everyone I know who has seen him play feels the same way. We were actually shocked he chose Utc as he could have played at much larger schools and had he wanted to switch to safety he could potentially play in the nfl one day. He has that kind of athleticism. Everything that Trob accomplished in high school Huessmann did also but in a much tougher division. While I love small town football and the pasion of the fans its not even comparable. DivIi is like small college football. you have 1a,2a,3a,4a,5a,6a and div II. See how far apast 1a and divII are on that liost? jacob didnt play against Grundy, whitwell, marion County, ectt.. Huessmann played against kids now playing for Michigan, virginia tech, stanford, Tennessee, vanderbilt, ole miss, and on and on. South Pitt plays in the weakest division in Tennessee by far and its not even close. Heck they gave up how many points to signal mtn when trob was there? I watched that same signal team scrimmage Baylor and were blown off the field in the varsity competetion. The qb for signal that killed s pitt was a third string qb at Baylor. Now take into consideration all the practices and scrimmages, Fom what I read Huessmann was better in those as well. I know a couple of players on the current Utc team and they said without a doubt Huessmann is the real deal and in no way should Trob start over him. They said their was only a few players who felt he should start over Huessmann. None of this is a knock on Trob as he is a very gifted athlete and should be on the field somewhere but Huessmann is just better. He has played against much better competetion his whole life, He is incredibly smart, he is faster thanh trob, his arm strength is just as good if not better, his mechanics, throwing motion, foot work are much better, so how should trob start over him? What if Huessmann wasnt the coaches son? What would your argument be then? It appears Huessmann had a heck of a game saturday. Where are the S Pitt fans now?
  3. Nothing like some pre-season fireworks!
  4. Maybe they are looking at the other hardship kids you have up there because its not just one. Even though your principle was very coy in bringing up the number of no child left behind kids you have and how many of them play sports. That wasnt an issue and shouldnt have been used to muddy the waters. How many non zoned, non No child left behind kids do you have playing football this year and last? Answer that honestly signal fans. Lets see how honest and forthcoming you really are. Remember before you answer that those kids all came from somewhere else and many of us know the answer. Maybe since your defense was "we didnt understand the paperwork" the Tssaa is looking at the history of the paperwork filed by your ad, Principle and coach in the past. Considering they have all been doing this for over 25 years each that would mean they have been doing it wrong all this time. Or did they just in the last two years somehow forget what the rules were? It would look pretty bad if the Tssaa did a little research and finds in years past that things were done correctly by your administrators but now all of a sudden they dont understand the rules. Everyone knows all sports related eligibility questions go through the Tssaa. The HCDE can approve a kid to go to school out of zone but that kid must get cleared by the Tssaa and you dont say he lives in your zone if he doesnt. Maybe the Tssaa is too busy laughing at the academic statements that were made. I know Im going to make some Lfo people mad and thats not my intention but Im going to be 100% honest. To say Lfo was too hard but Signal is not is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Signal is a supposed world school of excellence. Check out Lfo's test scores, drop out rates, expulsions, ect.. Lfo doesnt compare to Signal academically in any shape, form or fashion. So you are saying an academically struggling kid from Lfo cant graduate because Lfo is too hard but come on up to Signal because our curriculum is way easier. Ba ha ha Signal is correct in saying there are kids all over Chattanooga at other schools on hardships approved by the Hcde. Are they cheating? Yes, I would say with 100% certainty some of them are and thats why the other area coaches arent in an uproar because they also have kids at their schools. Does this make it ok because other people cheated too? No it does not. You got caught unfortunatley and you will be made an example of. Maybe they will look at other schools as well now. While they are at it they should take an even bigger look at the private schools that compete in the public school division. They are not supposed to give any financial aide, work out any deals to reduce tuition for student athletes but they do and we all know it. Best case scenario is that Signal is given two wins back because they werent notified when the Tssaa was.
  5. well, I will give you an unbiased persons opionion. I am not a Baylor fan, I just went to watch a good game and usually root for the public schools over private schools. I thought there were some terrible calls that went in Columbias favor. Baylor got called for a facemask that didnt happen, Columbia interfered with a fair catch on a punt and they didnt call it, there were several questionable spots that went in Columbias favor but the worst was the long pass you completed on Baylors sideline. The kid was 2-3 steps out of bounds before he gained control of the ball. The game was much more of a blow out than the score showed. I dont think anyone is trying to put down Columbia but maybe some of the earlier posts about how good they are and how they whip Ensworth in a srimmage every year riled some people up. Baylor had almost 400 yards of rushing. Imagine how many yards they would have had without the turnovers. Probably 600 yards of rushing. They did this without a starting lineman, their starting tailback and their #1 receiver (according to the guy sittng beside me who kept informing me of that all night, lol). A team that gets 5 turnovers should win or atleast be in position to win, especially a team self proclaimed as the best or one of the best in the state. I thought most of the turnovers were very bad turnovers. The Baylor qb threw one right to the small Columbia player on the pick 6, he threw another ball up for grabs that shuld have never been thrown. Other than the first drive Columbia did nothing other than a lucky questionable catch and the pick 6. The game could/ should have been about 60-6. I think Columbias passing game looked good when they had time. They just simply got whipped on the line of scrimmage all night. They probably would have been in the game if they had more time. I think against a team without such a dominant line they will do very good as i was impressed with their qb and wr's.
  6. 32-20 with 4 minutes left. Baylor has their backups in now. Whew... Much closer than it should have been. Columbias qb has a good arm and #5 is a great rec. Baylors o and d lines won this game. They could have ran all night.
  7. 32-20 with 4 minutes left. Baylor has their backups in now. Whew... Much closer than it should have been. Columbias qb has a good arm and #5 is a great rec. Baylors o and d lines won this game. They could have ran all night.
  8. I think the kid has two picks tonight. I don't think he is close to 5'10. He looks way smaller but he has played a great game. I can't wait to see the stats on this game. I bet Columbia doesn't have 100 yards . Baylor will have to have a lot more ball security in the playoffs. D2 teams would have scored 40 with all these turnovers
  9. Well in what should be a 40-7 game Baylor throws another pick that was returned for a td. 25-20 Baylor as of now
  10. These calls and lack of calls are horrendous. Interference on a fair catch not called. Baylor fumbles yet again but picked it off to get it right back. Columbia is too good to keep turning the ball over to.
  11. Well Baylor got a little help from the gods. On yet another fumble the qb picks it up and lofts one to the back of the endzone. Columbias db was in position but than goodness for 6'6 receivers.
  12. The football gods are shining on someone. Columbia stops Baylor on the goaline on 4th then barely gets out of the endzone for what could have been a safety. The referees spots have been critical.Great game so far.
  13. what you are describing isnt what most people would call a cut block. What most coaches and players would call a cut block is blocking the knees or lower. You are simply describing getting your head and the play side like you should do on all blocks. Like youthcoach said, it all depends on your terminology. Just because thats what your coach called it doent mean thats what it is or that you are right and everyone else is wrong. When in fact if you look up the rules it will state a cut block is a block below the waist.
  14. They won a title in 1997 and a runner up in 1996.
  15. you win one year with everyone elses kids and now you win everything? I know you havent had much experience at winning and everyone has always thought of you as ... umm... soft. So its almost understandable you would be extremely excited to be winning for the first time in your life. The problem is you wont shut up about it. The kids won, not the cardigan wearing accountants who post on here so often. We know you played the clarinet growing up and are excited for your kids and that it gives you some sort of vicarious thrill but enough is enough. You have a great coaching staff but lets be realistic. Is it the signal mtn kids winning the games or kids from other schools?
  16. Goes back to just because a kid looks like an athlete it doenst make him an athletes. Dont get me wrong, Central has had a few here and there but not a lot at once. The previous years kids were never that good as youth or in middle school. The ones that were pretty good went to Ooltewah after middle schol or to private schools. This crop of Freshmen and sophmores they have now have grown up winning. I think they won the county league championship every year in football won middle school last year and the state in baseball every single year since they were 5 years old. Most of them decided to stay together and they havent lost the kids to Ooltewah or private schools like they normally do.
  17. I dont think they will be a doormat. I do not think he will jump ship or if he does it wont be for Ooltewah. I do not think they will be world beaters this year but will be much improved possibly going 6-4 or as good as 7-3. The next couple of years after this could be very good. The tide has changed in that these young kids coming up are very talented. They have won their whole lives from kids through through middle school. Not just in football but in all sports. Central has always had the reputation of having athletes but not winning. The truth of the matter is they didnt have the athletes until recently. Just because you look like an athlete doesnt make you an athlete. I think Brown middle won the conference this year.Ooltewahs feeder programs have dried up and the few athletes that would once go to Ooltewah from Hunter midle chose to go to central this year. With east hamilton now pulling kids from Ooltewah and the athletes going from Hunter to Central instead of Ooltewah its not looking good for Ooltewah in the immediate future. I dont know coach Allen but I can say this. This group of freshmen and sophmores have won everything their whole lives and there is no reason they shouldnt continue to win, doesnt really matter who the coach is as long as he's decent.. How did Central look in their scrimmage last night
  18. good point. Ill rephrase. Nashville is 5.5 times larger than Chattanooga. Add in in the ones that did drive from Memphis and take into consideration that a lot of middle schoolers actually wrestle under Aau in other parts of the state (not Chattanooga)then the west tournament should be a lot larger than the other regions.
  19. is the west region memphis and nashville? if thats so I would hope you had way more kids than the other regions considering memphis and nashvilles population combined is about 10X Chattanoogas. I think Chattanooga had 310 kids and their middle schools dont really compete in Aau very much.
  20. yep, all schools should have 5 classifications because we are in the south just like Georgia. Forget their population is bigger. Forget that their teachers get paid more and they can attract quality coaches. Forget that we cant adequatley fill our lineups for more than half our teams. Forget that our administrators refuse to hire quality wrestling experienced coaches in favor of guys who have never wrestled. Then these coaches go coach in Georgia or Alabama. Forget that our population is about to grow anyway due to the fact that the people at the grassroots level have increased our youth participation by 100% in the last 5 years. wow, is that number correct? We have increased participation by 100% at the youth level? Did they add more divisions or something? Or did some people roll up their sleeves and get to work?
  21. Its funny to see how people view these facts. Clearly everyones opionion is based on their wanting or not wanting the split. When I try to be objective and look at the stats and also use some common sense I view the stats a little differently. I think the states with the largest population growth also grew in wrestling which makes sense to me. Alabama is one exception but i think this is where common sense comes into play. Do you really think Alabama grew because they have multiple divisions? is it possible they grew because they had so little numbers that it was not possible to do anything but grow as the sport became more popular? Maybe because the sport is just now catching on in Alabama and because they have some good , young, energetic peop-le down there promoting it has grown. That brings us to georgia, clearly with a population increase like they have they were obviously going to grow. Add in great leadership, an abundance of great coaches, top notch youth wrestling programs and they were obviosuly going to grow.
  22. What are the results? was there some drama?
  23. Lol, you might not win any of those 7 matchups. . You might win two and you might win 0 with bonus points for Baylor in several of those matches. As tough as Bradley is , I don't think they would match up well. Of course this is hypothetical.
  24. True statements, Bradley has done an excellent job and been a joy to watch. But that reign will end this year. Soddy and Cleveland are loaded with more studs coming in middle school and their feeder programs. The best middle school kids are Soddy and Cleveland with nobody else even close. The best feeder program is Baylors for the last few years with Soddy right behind. Bradley will still be good but might be third for the next 4-5 years .
