  1. Squatch the only person that believes that is you. MC expects to be in a slobber knocker. Somebody might win by 2 TDs with a late score or two but we fully expect this to be a game for 4 quarters. Might need some of that liquid courage you are drinking if this one doesn't go our way. If you are right, then you need to start a fortune telling business my friend.
  2. @TynerRamFan he used to live in Jasper, but the prodigal son has returned home. He has some kinfolk that were good players for the Warriors in the past. @Roy Dillard you fellas are really obsessed with the rearview mirror . Roy/OP I think we are going to have to start putting a limit on you at the Red eyes place. MC posters have said the Warrior's have the pieces to potentially make some noise this year if they work hard. Not to get confused with the skillet gang, who have 22 players faster than Usain Bolt and 22 hole knockers meaner than Mike Alstott and are going to win every game by 50 points. Also, that new nickname for that Jones man the skillet gang come up with was a swing and a miss. You fellas sound like those politicians in fancy suits that blame blame the other side for your mess ups. He made all the promises and guarantees (money back?) but at the end of the day wound up falling short. I think Captain Jones or Davy Jones is more fitting if I say so myself
  3. Man alive!! I've been missing out on all the good stuff, you TC fellas and Watertown fellas really dislike each other. It's refreshing to see some good ol fashioned small town hate from time to time. Sounds like Gordy has a good squad this year and I haven't seen TC play since FC. TC looked to have the pieces of a very good team but wasn't maximized in my humble opinion. If the coach has decided to open the offense up and let some of those athletes get the ball in space similar to the end of the FC game, then I would give the nod to TC. Would come up and watch it but we will have our hands full with Tyner Friday night. Depending on the game goes, I might head your way to see the showdown on 10/29.
  4. You have to remember, we don't have our own alumni buttering up those city slickers. MC has never been a darling of the Chatt times unless they are just absolutely forced to cover us. His articles give me a giggle sometimes.
  5. If you get some free time throw it together and let's discuss. You are right though, it all depends on the age of the person given their opinion. Top 2 have to be Eddie and Eric hands down. If you are strictly talking running backs I would put the Z train at the 3rd of 4th spot. @TynerRamFan where did Keelyn Craddock go play after high school? I thought that young fella was lightning in a bottle and could make some noise at the next level at a big D1 program. You have to forgive my old memory but I thought he was getting strong looks from Alabama and Florida at the time.
  6. Good post. In the 08 season, MC was coming into that game with a 1-2 record. First loss was to our rival and the second was a 1 point lost that came down to not converting a 2pt conversion to win the game against a good Boyd team. They picked up a win against Grundy before the Ram train come to town. MC won the game in a dominant fashion, first time beating Tyner since 1995 and that team never looked back. The talent was there, they just needed confirmation that they can play and WIN against the big boys. Coaching also plays a big role as well. Same can be said about the 2012 team. Coming off of a 1-9 season the previous year, a new HC and staff won 2 hard fought games against Grundy and Bledsoe to start the year, not great teams at the time but MC was beaten soundly by them in 2011. That team's confidence changed overnight. (This was the Z-trains freshman year for reference) I think the winner will get a boost either way but if Tyner wins look out. A talented team that believes in themselves and is clicking at the right time is very hard to beat come playoff time. If the Warriors win, they took care of business and beat a talented and maybe faster overall squad. Iron sharpens Iron!
  7. Got to take care of business this week and the weeks leading up to Meigs. Maybe I need to start drinking whatever Bush and Pride are having. Makes me feel like I'm all doom and gloom over here
  8. I hope I am trust me. Love the confidence you have as well. Football is simple game, yet very complex at the same time. Every year is a new team, even if you have all 22 starters coming back on both sides of the ball. Each year new leaders emerge or don't fill the void left from the player(s) before them. Maybe they aren't as hungry as the previous year and didn't work as hard in the offseason or during the season to maintain that success. Instead of being the favorite for the majority of the games now you are being told you will be lucky to win. The teams chemistry is completely different from year to year as well. Does the team get better as the year goes on or can you see them making the same mistakes each week and getting worse? These are just a small percentage of the things that impact a team every year. Those statements are not directed at Tyner or MC, just in general. I'm not the most reliable source when it comes to Tyner, but traditionally they're always good and a tough team to beat. On top of that they usually have a very tough schedule, so don't judge them by their overall record. With that being said, they have beaten the lesser teams on the schedule just like they should have. On top of that they have a first year head coach who seems to have his team clicking at the moment. I always try to treat our opponent with respect no matter if it's Alabama or team who hasn't won a game in 5 years. Not saying you haven't, but that's just my approach to every week. I would really like to see the Warriors come out and dominate the game for 4 quarters.
  9. Always glad to see new posters for the Warriors. Welcome to the board and we are glad to have you. As for Truth's post about the line, I don't think that he meant it in demeaning way or in a negative light towards the kids. This team has high expectations, which is a good thing and something you want surrounding your program. Let's try not to fight amongst ourselves and be reasonably civil. Nothing wrong with disagreeing, that just comes with the territory of forums. Don't want our threads to turn into a tire fire like some others every week. Looks like the rain will be out of town by the early AM on Friday. To be honest, I would rather have it that way.
  10. I'm leaning towards the Rams in this one. Sure is a lot easier to stack the box and stop the run game than it is to stop a spread team with a good qb and skill players. Hope I'm wrong but if MC doesn't come to play, we could get smacked in the mouth early and often.
  11. It's easy to do with teams that didn't bring home the gold. But I think they are worth mentioning for sure. If Pruitt stays I think we would have seen them face off against Alcoa 3 years in a row in 06, 07, & 08. Most talent MC had seen since the 90s. We squandered it with a very bad hire. Depending on how this team performs for the remainder of the year, maybe Dale couldn't have gotten those teams to that point. The jury is still out but this upcoming Friday will be a very good indicator if we are at 100% going into the game. I'm in the camp of still feeling uneasy about the team.
  12. Rarely ever disagree with you PP68 but I believe the 08 team could have brought home the gold against a good Milan team. if they got past Alcoa. Played them as tough as anybody had up until that point minus Maryville. Shot ourselves in the foot to many times with turnovers and we should have attacked them differently on offense in that game. 09 should have been at least an appearance for the gold. That year was the beginning of the end for Troy. 14,15,16 we just ran up against better teams in 2 of the 3 years and didn't get it done the other year. Just the way the cookie crumbles some times.
  13. I'm not one to boast about the team but I'm not for sandbagging either. Meigs is the king of the East until proven otherwise. This bunch at MC has the POTENTIAL to challenge for a state title but only time will tell. Bledsoe gave MC a good game for the most part. I believe the line on both sides of the ball are going to have start playing with a little more attitude from play one. Can't remember who said it earlier but what we want to do on offense isn't a secret. Pruitt wants to establish a physical brand of football, so for 4 quarters we are going to line up and run right at you with the occasional pass/trick play thrown in depending on the night. The polls are a great tool for some type of measuring stick but I wouldn't put all my faith into them. Hopefully both teams escape injury free tonight. The Warriors need to build on last week and get off to a fast start on both sides of the ball. Forrest folks, have a safe trip down to the valley. Looking forward to some Friday night football!
  14. Thought MC was in your rearview mirror? Can't seem to make your mind up. Guess that's been in the water down that way recently. Good hard fought game by Bledsoe. The injuries were unfortunate. Definitely made a difference. Get healthy and good luck on the rest of the season.
  15. Seems like a nerve was struck. You might want to go back 5 or 6 pages and read my post on the current situation. Don't think I threw any childish jabs and I actually gave support and words of encouragement. I don't blame the kids, parents, or community for being upset about Chris bolting. Geno makes good points for Chris but I'm in the camp of if you start something, then see it through till the end. Every man needs to do what is in the best interest of himself and his family. If you guys should be mad at anybody, blame the genius that even considered him for the job. As for the Ross remark, if I found out he bolted because he didn't have full freedom to operate the football program as he wished then I couldn't be mad at that. If you are going to hire a man for the job, let him do the job and give him the support needed for him to be successful. That's neither here nor there. My post was in reference to the comments I highlighted in bold from TTP's post. Anytime MC has feel on hard times, SP has had their fun with it and rightfully so. However, it seems when the Pirates come across some hiccups, the threads are asked to be shut down or laws/legal stuff gets brought into the discussion to discourage anybody from commenting on the thread. Just my opinion. One last thing, I've been a Marion County fan for quite some time. I've seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, if anybody knows humble we do. That is if they are living in reality. I think you fellas are the ones that wouldn't know what humble was if hit you in the face.
  16. Everybody can dish it, but there are only few who can eat the humble pie. Guess some just don't have that acquired taste.
  17. If memory serves correct I believe you are right. Funny how quick people's mind can change. @PP68 Glad to hear that MC is willing to play the wait and see game. The adults have ruined the rivalry and I hate it for the kids, that's all I've got to say about that. As for SP's current situation, it's a tough pill to swallow. SP faithful say they were expecting him to leave but not this soon. Not sure there is much truth to that. If it were to be in fact TRUE, then why would the powers that be even consider hiring him if there was even a hint that he would move on in 3 to 5 years? Also, if Vic was leaning towards a certain candidate, an outsider looking in would be under the impression that his opinion would carry a lot of weight towards hiring the next coach. Maybe there was some feathers ruffled on the way out the door. It's still early but I think this next coaching hire is crucial for the next 8 years for SP. As for Wes and Heath taking overfhink SP should be thanking their lucky stars. Family names that are synonymous with Pirate athletics and only want the best for the school. Just my personal opinion but I think Wes should have got the job the first time Vic stepped down due to the fact that Heath has no desire to be the head guy (I don't blame him, it's a lose/lose situation). Maybe Wes feels the same way but I always thought his short stint at BB had something to do with that. With that being said, they will both get their spot in the limelight and have a good chance to navigate a talented team to another shot at the gold. We live in a different time now where loyalty is a rare trait to find. If the right hire isn't put into place, things could go downhill very quick and the talent will start going elsewhere to a stable competitive program. Nothing lasts forever and all good things come to an end eventually. I've posted this a couple of times but I don't think you guys fully appreciated Vic like you should have. He may not have always been able to win the big one, but he provided stability and consistency. To the SP players, you've got a lot of talent and a chip on your shoulder from last year. There is a very good chance that the team that sent you home with the silver last year will be waiting for you again. You are in the foxhole now and the bullets are flying. Look to your left and to your right, those guys are all you have and they are all you NEED. Band together and show CJ that he missed his opportunity to be a part of special season. Don't say this often but good luck from a Warrior up the road.
  18. Greenville looked impressive tonight. Lots of talent but Gillespie and Gudger are some players. Hope Betsy keeps getting better and will definitely make the drive up to watch a playoff rematch. Glad BVD was able to make the game, I've always admired his passion and loyalty to his teams. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.
  19. I believe this week is going to paint the picture on what type of season this will be. Tyner has a new coach but he seems to have those guys playing hard for him. Hopefully we have a good week of practice and get to Friday without any hiccups. Really looking forward to this match up.
  20. Tyner is no slouch. They always have talent, some years more than others but they are always a solid opponent. I agree with you Truth, that's why I'm in wait and see mode. 04 team had a couple of weapons and 05 was strictly Van after losing Bragg. Coach Pruitt did a great job of adjusting to what he had and building the offense around them. Now he has a plethora of options, which should make his job a little easier when it comes to dialing up plays.
  21. @Yeti I believe there is some validity to your point about Grundy. MC has a lot of work to do if they are going to make a run in the playoffs this year. As far as the play calling is concerned, Dale might come from the camp of "calling plays that shouldn't work against a team your supposed to beat" type of guy. The thinking behind the mindset is that is the best way to get better against lesser competition and you don't have to open up the playbook too much. I know he wants to play a physical brand of football, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see us attack the outside more frequently than we have been. Still early in the season and I have high hopes for this bunch.
  22. Heck of a game to watch. Was sloppy on both sides at times but both teams left it all on the field. #5 and #58 for FC are hard nosed ball players. TC has a scrappy team. TCRadio, make sure those fellas are hydrated for next week. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.
  23. Well said I think the future has the potential to be very bright. Looking forward to this upcoming season.
  24. No sense in arguing with them PP68, both programs have done great things. The run Marion had in the 80's to mid 90's was something special and to be honest not many programs will ever be able to experience. Not many programs out there that can say they lost 1 game in 4 years and won 3 state championships in two different divisions. You fellas can poke fun at the old heads for bringing it up, but it is something to always be proud of and to have been grateful to be able to witness. 14,15, and 16 teams were very good who just happened to have bad timing Since the influx of talent SP has had beginning in 04, they have had a good stretch of success with few down years. You fellas should have way more gold in the trophy case. I believe we should have at least 2 more in the trophy case but sometimes the breaks just don't go your way.
  25. Had a little time on my hands so I decided to do a deep dive on the rivalry. I'm and old head, so some of this was new information to me. The series stands at 52-40 right now in favor of SP. - SP has led the series for its entire existence with the exception of 1932-36 when MC held an 8-3 lead. - SP has won 2 games or more in a row 12 times. There longest streaks where: 5 (1933-37) 4 (1941-43 played twice in one year) 6 (1946. 1949-53) 4 (1962-65) 4 (1974-77) 8 (2006-13) 4 (2016-2020) - MC was down in the rivalry 32-17 going into the year of 1978. From 1978-1995 MC went 16-2 in that time span (put that in your pipe and smoke it OP ) to bring the series to 34-33 SP. - MC has won 2 games or more in a row 9 times. Their longest streaks where: 6 (1927-32) 8 (1978-85) 8 (88-95) Fun Facts In 1985 SP was the state runner up and lost to MC 35-21. In 2016 MC was the state runner up and lost to SP 24-17. This was the second best game of all time in the series that I have been able to witness during my lifetime. In 1994, both teams won the state in their classifications, SP in 1A and MC in 3A. When both teams met that year, MC came out on top 6-0, thanks to some guy named Eric Westmorland who returned a Perry Hutchins INT for the only points of the game. This game is hands down the best game of all time in the series in my opinion. I was alive but not old enough to really comprehend what was taking place in the 1969 game. My dad and the majority of the really old folks are of the opinion that this was the best game of all time. SP won 28-22 in a close one. This was also the first year they won the state championship. An honorable mention would be the 2004 game, where Scott Wilson went streaking down the field to put the Warriors up with less than a minute left in a 27-22 MC victory. Some folks say he and Eric are still running till this day MC best class since they began playing football went a total of 56-1 over the span of 4 years and won state 3 of the 4 years in 2 different classifications (2A and 3A) SP has had some classes with some good runs but I am unsure of which had the highest win total. Need some of you Pirates fans to enlighten us on this. Hope you guys enjoy this, and hopefully this gives some of the outsiders like BPM and others some info on it.
